Yeah, what they've done is complete bs.
But it's typical of EA.
They hedged their bets on the console front, even though it meant pushing out a product that they knew would be substandard, then just drop everyone on the old consoles. Probably because they're too cheap to scale it for the older consoles, who have gotten the short end of the stick on the patch front. Looking over a list on the BSN listing the bugs on the PS3 and 360 versions, it reads more like a horror story.
And of course, this being an EA game it goes without saying that plot content was cut to be released as dlc, screwing old gen gamers over even further.
The way Bioware has treated their customers, and responded to their fans, has gone straight to [censored] since EA took over.
It's times like this I'm glad that I bailed on Bioware before they released DA2.

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Jul 10 2015, 04:41 PM) Lol. Seems these day Bioware can't make a game without creating some backlash and controversy over it. Is this over them fixing that exploit glitch? Bethesda always fixed theirs too (as soon as they learned about them) - I don't remember them ever getting such a rabid response - usually just some groans like: "Well, it was good while it lasted..." The whole controversy seems to stem from the same "entitlement" that made those people feel they should be compensated for the time they spend making mods. What gives?

The whole controversy seems to stem from the same "entitlement" that made those people feel they should be compensated for the time they spend making mods. What gives? This time it's Dragon Age Inquisition. After spending months porting the game from the new gen consoles to the old, and releasing some dlc on all platforms, Bioware have decided that they're done with the old gen consoles. No more dlc for them. They have cooked up a save importer for people willing to buy a next gen console and a new copy of the game; a group consisting of maybe three diehard Bioware fans. The rest are paddleless up the proverbial creek. Someone's started a petition to get them to change their mind, not that they'll listen. The thread for it has turned into old genners saying that Bioware said repeatedly that they'd still get all the dlc, and new genners being entitled(read: telling old genners to shut up and upgrade, and gloating while demanding better quality dlcs because they're not working to old gen limitations anymore. And for bonus points they're calling the old genners entitled), while some pc gamers sit there being even more entitled, bashing the new genners for how their consoles are lowering the quality of their games. As with every Bioware farce, it's a disgrace that's little more than thinly veiled greed at work, and means yet more fragmenting of their ever decreasing fanbase. Edit: After a little reading on the Bioware forums, the thought occurs that they probably planned this from the start. Supporting the older consoles gives them an excuse to cut down on the content in the actual game, which they keep to sell as dlc later. New genners will trip over themselves to get it, because it's content the old consoles couldn't handle, and EA manage to cash in on the old consoles one last time. It doesn't matter to them about burning that bridge because they won't be making any more games for the old consoles. It seems like the sort of thing EA would do. Yup. today, the Writer's Block is strong with this one.
Aw, I'm sorry to hear that On your edit above = that sounds very likely based on their past performances. But as bad as they are, they can't even come close to the sick BS dished out at Konami - and I hope someone like Bethesda picks up Hideo Kojima. He's got the kind of dedication to his work that Bethesda and Black Isles developers USED to have.

QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Jul 11 2015, 01:25 AM) I'm super pissed off that they're doing the ending of the damn game as DLC.
Do not sell a resolution as extra. This is why I love Oblivion. Shivering Isle was a whole new world, and KOTN was a while new main quest. It was fantastic!
Bioware got dlc right with Dragon Age Origins. You had four add ons; two based on main characters from the game(one set before the game, one after), a 'what if' dlc(you play as the darkspawn to see how things would have played out if Alistair was on his own), and one that comes after the story of the game. And there was also Awakening, an expansion pack. Once they started chopping out bits of the plot for dlc(ME2), it stopped being worth buying Bioware games.

QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Jul 11 2015, 02:52 PM) And being an idiot and a rabid Solas fan, I'm gonna buy the damn DLC.
Who's Solas? QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Jul 11 2015, 02:52 PM) Edit really quickly: Shivering Isles was thirty bucks, as was Knights of the Nine, so I paid over $100 for Oblivion in its entirety. And the fact that I CONTINUE to re-buy the disc says a lot for replayability. I've continuously played that game for... Has it been ten years now? Maybe like eight?
*Reads really slowly* Yup, Oblivion was, and is, staggeringly good value for money. I've had a copy, either the basic or the GOTY edition, for a long as I've had a 360.

QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Jul 11 2015, 06:31 PM) Solas is a character in DAI
Was kind of hoping for a little more than that. QUOTE(hazmick @ Jul 11 2015, 09:27 PM) Meanwhile, free DLC has been dropping for the Witcher 3 like it's no man's business and there's ~30 hours worth of stuff coming out in fall which will cost about $24. Now that is how you do extra content.
I love love love Bioware games. I've spent countless hours on each of the Dragon Age and Mass Effect games, but EA seem more than happy to ruin the reputation of the franchises as long as they get their money. A disturbing trend among modern gaming.
Yup, CD Projekt Red are a damn sight better than most. And I think it was EA that started the trend of running franchises into the ground, they've certainly destroyed enough developers in their time by doing just that.
