QUOTE(haute ecole rider @ Jul 6 2015, 01:56 AM) I'm in the middle of being charmed/suckered by a new show, and I just had to share it with all of you Skyrim/Dragonborn/Dragonblood fans:
Dragons: Race to the Edge
Oooh I didn't realise it had been released already! I've seen the first two seasons, and I love the How to Train Your Dragon films. I don't have netflix though, so I'll have to wait until it surfaces elsewhere on the web

And yet I am, and live—like vapours tossed. I long for scenes where man hath never trod A place where woman never smiled or wept There to abide with my Creator, God, And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept, Untroubling and untroubled where I lie The grass below—above the vaulted sky.”

QUOTE(hazmick @ Jun 22 2015, 01:54 PM) Watched the new Disney Pixar film, Inside Out. It follows the story of a young girl, but through her emotions (Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness) which are personified as little people working in her mind. It explores the human mind as the young girl goes through a stressful time in her life. The way things like memory and personality are shown is really fun and the whole concept is great. The way it deals with things such as depression is really really well done, as it doesn't just try to make light of the whole situation, and you can really see where they put the effort in. During the film's design and writing they consulted psychologists to help them get these things right, and it really shows. Fun, cute, one of the best animated films I've seen for a while. Definitely recommend it. Also watched Jurassic World. It was ok. The idea is that some fancy corporate types splice some DNA together and make a super dinosaur, which of course breaks loose and starts killing everything in sight. Why they didn't make a super herbivore to start with, I have no idea. Enter Chris Pratt, the military-man-turned-dino-trainer who dashes around saying cool stuff and being a badass. Accompanying our hero is a corporate lady whose only notable feature is the ability to run in heels, and two children - One of whom is more interested in girls than dinosaurs, whilst the other is very excitable and annoying. The entire film is a big game of hide and seek with the big scary dinosaur, and we see very little of the park itself. Special effects were good, fight scene at the end was quite good, first 3/4 of the film was average. I was looking forward to it so much, but I just prefer more dinosaurs with my dinosaur films I've been dying to see this; but like you I thought there would be a rampage of dinos! Hearing it is one super one is kind of a turn off!

QUOTE(Darkness Eternal @ Jul 14 2015, 01:52 PM) Well the whole story for Jurassic Park was that they mixed in frog DNA to complete the dinosaur but ended up being a mistake since the dinosaurs changed sex like the species of frogs they used to complete the DNA strain... Dr. Wu should've learned that. It was a good movie... Especially seeing some old faces from film.
I loved the original (much better than the sequels); and was kind of hoping this one would be a knock out of the park. It was kind of disappointing to learn that the premise is one super dino though. I mean, it is not like dinos weren't a super power in themselves already, but to genetically alter them to make them even more dangerous just for a park attraction kind of makes no sense. I mean, if they planned to ship it to an enemy country and secretly release it on them for warfare, it would make more sense.

I finally started watching Longmire, after it has sat in my instant queue for over a year. I am liking it. It is nice to see Lou Diamond Phillips again. Katee Sackhoff is the big draw for me. She is a ton of fun to watch. I wish the show was about her. I also saw An Amish Murder today. It was sort of like Longmire with a female sheriff. Only it was Neve Campbell instead of Lt. Starbuck, and has Amish instead of Cheyenne. It was good. Nothing outstanding, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It would have made a nice tv series too, but even though it was talked about, apparently that never worked out. Right now I am watching In Search of General Tso. It is really good. To watch that is, not just to eat. It is about not only that specific dish, but also about the spread of Chinese-American food across America. Anyone who likes the faux Chinese food we have in the U.S. will enjoy this show. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Jul 20 2015, 10:50 PM

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Jul 12 2015, 06:59 AM) Gods is that film terrible.
Is there a "Guilty Pleasures" thread here? (If not, there should be). Ultraviolet is one of my guilty pleasures (on Flux is another). I admit it: I've watched it several times. It's one of my go-to movies for when I'm sick and my brain is running at half speed. I don't take it seriously. I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously. I think part of the film's problem is that it didn't communicate this very well.

And somehow they managed to fail to make Mila Jovovich look hot. That's almost a crime from where I'm sitting Aeon Flux is actually a film I've got a soft spot for. Because who couldn't like a film with Pete Postelthwaite in it? Even if he does only pop up for a few minutes. And they threw some pretty cool stuff into that film.

I recently admitted to watching the Transformers movies, and Michael Bay is definitely the Chad Kroeger of film. I never saw Ultraviolet. I have seen too many negative reviews about it. The same with the last Resident Good Evil film. I liked the Aeon Flux movie. Charlize Theron is a joy to watch in anything. I forgot that Pete Postlethwaithe was in it. Seargeant Hakeswill! Now I am going to have to go back and watch that movie again. Of course I loved watching the original Aeon Flux shorts on MTV. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Jul 21 2015, 01:50 PM

That's almost a crime from where I'm sitting I'm fairly certain that is against the Geneva Convention. Mila has long given me a funny feeling in my tummy <sigh> Loving the trailer for Suicide Squad currently. Jared Leto looks Awesome.

QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Jul 21 2015, 08:18 PM) Husband and I started watching Dr. Who. right now we are sitting through the atrocity that is Matt Smith's eyebrows.
I miss Nine. Ten was alright. I'm definitely an Amy Pond and Martha fan. Not too fond of Eleven, though he's a fan favorite, apparently.
Then you're a more resilient Doctor Who fan than me, I bailed on Doctor Who shortly after Smith's arrival. I just can't stomach the writing anymore.
