QUOTE(Acadian @ Sep 30 2015, 11:56 AM) Today I’m going to unplug and head out on another pilgrimage to visit Acadian Sr. I try to get out to see him each spring and fall while he’s still with us. If I count the years right, he’s heading into his 95th winter. I look forward to returning here in a week and catching up with the TES antics of our wonderful little chorrol community. We're all going to run wild like banshees in your absence! No more "Bread Loafs" or "British Boats" or "****" - it's time to PAAAAAARTEEEEEEEE!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOT !!!! Just kidding. You will most def be missed; but I so envy the time you still have with your Father. Enjoy it and him every chance you get, have a safe trip. This post has been edited by mALX: Sep 30 2015, 05:26 PM

Actually she's not kidding. I've got a whole year worth of 'British Boats' that I've been saving up! That second part of her comment resonates with me so much this year, and I can't echo the sentiment loud enough. Warmest regards to Acadian Sr.

So this story is going to require some background- which will unfortunately take away from the humor... but so it goes.
Earlier this year, Mrs. Treydog (she of the bionic knee) had a couple of falls on the steps into the garage and leading to the front porch. She is okay, but we decided it was time to have someone come in and build some ramps. This we did and they are a great success, especially the one in the garage, which the Three Kittehs (plus Mom) treat as a Feline BMX course, complete with handrails, perfectly proportioned for perching...
The other bit of background concerns the grey and white stray we took in a couple of years prior. He is the most... vocal... cat I have ever known. This is especially true when he thinks Mrs. Treydog has left the house and he suffers from separation anxiety...
Fix these items in mind to set the scene for around 10 o'clock on night earlier this week. Mrs. has gone to bed, an event which Rico Kitty apparently missed. So he begins to give a perfect auditory definition of the term "caterwaul."
This intrigues the garage contingent, which crowd onto the handrail near the kitchen door the better to listen... and incidentally, press the doorbell.
At which point we have Concerto for Doorbell and One Voice:
MEEERoooowowwowWOW
Bong
MEEEROWWWWWWWW
Bong
Bong
RuRRRRRR? (with rising inflection)
Bong
RaooooooWooWOOO

I just have one feline, and that's bad enough sometimes. Can't imagine having a whole clowder of them, plus doorbell.

Good news regarding Acadian Sr.! Maybe not-so-good news regarding the Tasmanian Devil perfect little angel in the house? Hopefully your son will find new digs for his family soon! Though the cocker sounds adorable! And welcome back!

QUOTE(Acadian @ Oct 7 2015, 03:31 PM) Treydog - musical cats! Wow, isn't medicine amazing? I didn't realize they made Rabbit replacement knees! All - Thanks so much for the kind wishes regarding my pilgrimage. I'm back from a tiring but good trip. . . only to find a Tasmanian devil two-year old granddaughter in the house, along with her mother and cocker spaniel that my son dropped off with poor Mrs Acadian for a week while he starts a new engineering assignment and finds suitable quarters for his family in a new town. Mrs Acadian is stressing (us being spoiled empty nesters with a decidedly not child-proof house). So it will be a distracting few days before I can really reclaim my peaceful little rockpile here in the desert. Thanks once again for the show of support for tough old Acadian Sr who, at least for now, is doing pretty well. WOO HOO! Welcome Home!!! I sent you a list of Mother Approved "distractors" that somehow miraculously mesmerize Tasmanian devils ... er, I mean two-year olds, (buy poor Mrs. Acadian some quiet time). Just remember how impy Buffy probably was at that age, lol.
