QUOTE(mALX @ Nov 1 2015, 10:21 AM) That might be a trip better made with a friend in a better working car to drive you there and to take the strain off you; be there if needed if the trip gets to be too much for you.
Around here they have agencies that will transport you to appointments at doctor's offices or the Social Security Administration (etc) if you have untrustworthy transportation and are elderly or infirmed in some way; (and usually when the destination is too far to afford a taxi to take you there and back, which it sounds like this place is).
We have the same situation here on the Veterans Affairs = 3-4 hour drive through some of the worst mountain roads imaginable, and if you are lucky you won't be crushed in a rock slide or your car go out of control on the steep grade and/or drive off the side of the Black Mountain. (they have "Runaway Truck" ramps all down that mountain for those huge semi trucks that go completely out of control on that steep a grade; and more than one semi was not able to stop by the end of that ramp).
Sage advice. Had I my wits about me I might have followed it, at least to the point of seeing if such assistance is cheap and readily available. I suspect that before too many more years pass I'll be forced to rely on such assistance. I made the trip yesterday. Left the house circa 0630. Was home before noon. I didn't dawdle at my destination, wanting to be home prior to expected rains with potential storms moving in later in the day. (Those didn't materialize excepting some insignificant rainfall overnight.) Am surprised by the low quality of my new ID photo. I had expected something more modernized than the 1992-issued black-and-photo which graced my old ID. Not only does the new photo remain black-and-white, but is so washed out it looks very like an old 19th century time-worn image, its subject rapidly fading into oblivion. Oh well, so long as it gets the job done I'm content. The car performed like a champ. Me, I felt rather poorly but survived. (I feel much better today. Go figure.) I'm glad to have gotten it out of the way, procrastinator that I tend to be. This post has been edited by Decrepit: Nov 6 2015, 02:14 PM

It sounds like you made that long trip in record time; and I'm so glad you have that done and over with now, before the bad weather sets in. Also glad you bounced right back today to feeling better, that is great!

QUOTE(mirocu @ Nov 5 2015, 11:15 AM) Yeah, Iīm really glad it got done before winter really sets in. We were lucky the carpenter just got a job cancelled and could start working at our place right away We donīt have enough boards to cover up the backside completely but weīre gonna use what we have and continue next year. Weīve had enough expenses for this year It amazed us though we did have enough for both longsides, none of use believed that. Saved a lot of money with those boards still being usable! Awesome! QUOTE(mirocu @ Nov 5 2015, 10:02 AM) Oh, good.It did happen after all! And just for comparison, this is from early March. Iīm so happy we got the garage up this year! I certainly didnīt expect it WOW! This is amazing! What an Awesome job you and your father did on this shed! It looks fantastic! I want a shed now!

I've a project that has been postponed far too long . . . reorganizing my computer drives and partitions. They are a mess! It started soon after building my correct computer in 2010, worsened when I had to rebuild my C: partition following unrecoverable Windows corruption last year (and bought an SSD to use as my boot drive in the process), then worsened again this year when I bought another SSD to use as gaming partitions. Beyond partition G: I have little idea of what on those drives, and my partitions go up to W:!!!!! (I'm a long time fan of multiple partitions. But having so many defeats the purpose if you let them go to seed.)
I used to glory in this sort of thing, and not too many years ago might have gotten everything back in shape in a day or two. Nowadays my mind loses focus within minutes so that I have gotten very little done. What I have found thusfar is interesting. For instance, I found four (!) installs of Everquest 2 on as many partitions. The kicker here is that I stopped playing Everquest in 2009, the year before assembling my computer. I found two or three unneeded installs of Oblivion, backups so old they no longer serve a purpose. (I do have a very recent backup that will stay.) I found two redundant Minecraft save directories, which take up a LOT of space. (My most recent Minecraft saves are something like 500mb each!) And so on.
I've deleted most of those unneeded backup copies, but much much more needs to be done. One regrettable mistake has been made. So far as I can tell, while deleting some extra Minecraft game installation directories, I mistakingly deleted the only copy of my first Minecraft install, which contained my earliest screenshots, the only shots of the Hill Fort while its perimeter walls were still under construction. That hurts. Too, I seem to have messed up my Banished install. No biggy there. My saves or safe. I'll just reinstall it once things settle down.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Nov 8 2015, 03:09 AM) Thanks We had an old electric building saw which helped to speed up the work with the bords immensely. No need for manual sawing with my carpal tunnel wrists Aw, bless your heart! Holy Cow!!!! Maybe you should copy the drive onto one external back-up drive before deleting it so you don't lose anything important again; but can still move forward on that clean-up of your hard drive - which most def sounds needed!

QUOTE(mirocu @ Nov 10 2015, 09:16 AM) Done and done!! I still canīt believe we managed to get it done this year!! I know it may seem strange to have a gap in the wall like that, but itīs very practical. Yes, of course you need to be able to access without walking around to the back, and the airflow will keep everything fresh in there; but out of the rain or snow pouring down on them. I love it, and if you could do this so quickly you could build me a small garage ... and finish the sun room that was framed out but never finished ... Gaaaaah, I wish you and your Father could visit !!!!! This post has been edited by mALX: Nov 10 2015, 04:14 PM

My birds loved this over any other bird treat I got them, even the honey-seed treats! I used to drive over 30 miles to buy it fresh for them; hand picked the best/fattest stalks of it; and kept it in the refrigerator tray in a plastic baggie so it stayed fresh till the day I gave it to them to eat, lol. I started working on Anchorage Reloaded, a mod that will allow you to revisit (or pre-visit) Anchorage. I was inspired by the Return To Anchorage mod, which was nice, but left a lot to be desired. My goal is to allow the player to travel to Anchorage in current day Fallout time. It is not a sim, so won't have any of the simulation/FPS mechanics like derezzing bodies, health stations, and so on. It will be just like visiting any other part of the Wasteland. The entire thing is completely separate from Operation Anchorage, so you can do it and Anchorage Reloaded in any order, without one affecting the other.
I made a separate world space(s) and cells already. Copying the old ones and renaming them was easy. The hard part is that it broke all the door links between cells. I have been recreating those to put things back together. I have also been removing all the Operation Anchorage quest-related stuff, like activators that set quest events, x-marker headings, and so forth. The same with the simulation ammo, health, and weapon dispensers, etc...
So far it is taking a long time. But I did create a vertibird on the deck of Rivet City to transport the player to Anchorage, and another to take them back. I copied the elevator button from the Washington Monument and stuck it into the side of each vertibird to act as a door between the locations. It looks a little odd, but works perfectly. Now I can take a characters back and forth to test.
Once I am done setting up the world spaces, I'll start populating. Chinese Ghouls are an obvious choice, as are American robots gone mad (like the ones all over the Capital Wasteland). I am thinking wildlife for other areas, like molerats in some of the caves, and feral ghouls. I am also thinking of an American Ghoul living in General Chase's old Headquarters tent, who can act as a vendor and repairman. I'll probably put a sleepable bed/cot in there as well.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Feb 25 2016, 11:26 AM) You must have made quite a few mods now, SubRosa. Do you keep count on them? Sure, let me see, 1, 2, 3... lots. Lots of mods. Putting up boards? Sounds like a good spot to place some wonderglue, scrap metal, turpentine, fission batteries, and maybe a few tin cans... This post has been edited by SubRosa: Feb 25 2016, 08:01 PM
