By the way, SubRosa: today's vid had several examples of the female Player's voice. I didn't link the vid because it makes every person enter their age regardless; so may as well just visit the official site for it.
If you watch it, I would be very interested in your impression from it. Mine was a lowering from my original opinion. The Player dialogue, the spoken lines = kind of like Witcher but with the ability to play a female; which means linear. The main quest may be forced on us like they tried to do with Skyrim.
If that is the case, I may bypass getting it at all, but I'm going to wait to hear from people who do get it.
One thing is clear, it will def require Steam for the PC version.
Also, someone said there would be no HardCore mode - but they do have something called "Survival" mode, (or was it "Survivor?" mode) - either way; which may be just a renaming of the HardCore mode.
The differences in the modes is supposed to be how many hitpoints the enemies require to be killed; and how many and how often legendary enemies spawn in your game.

Here you are mALX, my early impressions-
The game is very, very good.
The graphics are very detailed. Destroyed buildings look so realistic now and it feels amazing to just explore the game world. Not sure about the 'linear video' as the game feels like a standard Beth game, follow the MQ if you want, ignore if you want. Link me the video so I can have a look.
My first thought as I walked around was 'what would Obsidian do with this puppy,' as the engine is really good.
Music has been changed up a lot from Fallout 3. Heaps more pipe music, chimes, a real atmospheric score that suits exploring a strange, new world. Radio stations are still there but I haven't tried them out much.
Dogmeat is fantastic. He feels just like a real dog now, running ahead of you, sniffing the ground, exploring things around you, yawning and showing you those big bad wolf teeth. The AI is simply amazing.
The number of weapons and the upgrading is staggering. I can now understand why there is no need for repairing of weapons. Each weapon has such a changing damage/range that adding weapon repair would probably just cause the game to explode!
I have not tried settlement building yet. It looks like that is the next mission that I will plan to do.
Pipboy light is way more powerful and feels good. The green light can be modified as you like and it gives a nice nighteye look.
The only part that I do not really like at this early stage is VATS. It doesn't stop time anymore, only slows it down. The % are changing as the enemy moves through VATS and it is something that doesn't really suit me. The % numbers and the targeted body parts are quite small on screen and that only adds to the awkward feeling. The gore also has a slightly more cartoon look so that is a shame.
I really loved VATS and the gore level in Fallout 3 so this one doesn't feel as good. Perhaps a modder will have a play around with it.
The ironsights is really smooth now so I found myself only using VATS when I really needed it anway.
And it is strange that when you equip a grenade it doesn't show you carrying it on screen. You just keep holding the gun and can throw the grenade by using another button.
In Skyrim they abandoned the whole 'use magic at the same time as having weapons equipped' so I am not sure what that might mean for TESVI.
Hit the thread with any questions you might you might have.
-Cheers.

Ooh, thanks for the review! Okay, this should be the link to the vid I referred to that made the game sound very linear via the dialogue: https://www.fallout4.com/One question I had = player houses? Edit: Sleeping? Eating? This post has been edited by mALX: Nov 10 2015, 09:43 PM

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Nov 10 2015, 03:33 PM) I checked The Nexus and they already have a Fallout 4 site with two pages of mods. It is mostly graphics presets and ENBs, some desktop icons, and save games. The faces in the save games do look good. Much better than the vanilla characters in any other Bethesda game has ever looked. I guess they finally decided not to do stupid crap with the texture files like filling them with blocks.
I even downloaded the perk poster. You know, the one only people who pre-purchased the game are supposed to get...
I watched that trailer, and the synthetic at about 2:20 looked really cool. Why can't we play one of them?
Was that the pretty girl or that robot looking one? Bold: "Thanks, Bethesda!" Okay, the pretty girl is at 1:25. THAT is what I'd like to look like, lol. Where are these mods, can you link me up?

QUOTE(hazmick @ Nov 10 2015, 10:30 PM) I'm still not sure what gender character I'll be going for. Usually in games with voiced protags (Mass Effect, Dragon Age) I've gone for a female character, but I have plenty of time to think about it I suppose.
One thing I did notice is that the male presets are heaps better than the female ones. Out of the 16 or so I only had one female that suited the wife look I was after. So if you choose a female you will need to play around with the generator. This post has been edited by Winter Wolf: Nov 10 2015, 10:36 PM

I see me waiting for beauty mods before playing, like I did in Skyrim. I'll wait for SubRosa's help again like I did in Skyrim, lol. I still wouldn't be playing Skyrim if it wasn't for SubRosa helping me make my character look palatable. QUOTE(Winter Wolf @ Nov 10 2015, 05:00 PM) They are too busy fighting off Dogmeat I was kind of surprised that you have no control over the name of the baby, didn't Todd Howard say that they voiced in like hundreds of popular names just in case? Or was that for the Player character?
