QUOTE(Grits @ Nov 12 2015, 12:31 PM) Here’s something to consider. The headbob in first person makes me sick very quickly. I play mostly in third person but like to look closely at stuff in first. I am amazed that this idiotic gimmick is even included and disgusted that it can’t be disabled.
I get extremely motion sick even just watching youtube vids of video game play on some games. A lot of it is if there is too much swinging around of the camera (like people who "look around" a lot and/or with a fast or jerky motion. But I also get really ill when the player is in first person and running somewhere (or when I do it while playing) - I didn't know what was causing it, but I'll bet you are right about it having to do with head-bobbing. I have to play in 3rd person at all times anymore.

The game finally finished downloading so I've been able to play it at last. I'm just under 10 hours in. Got as far as Concord, got my power armour, and then ignored the main quest entirely. I've spent most of the time building up my settlement, and it's looking pretty cosy now. Character creation was a bit underwhelming, especially in the hair department. Bethesda's character creation has never been top notch, and it doesn't feel as if they've tried to progress with it. There was literally 1 option for long hair on a man, and only 2 or 3 shoulder length options for a woman. Aside from the very start of the game with that silly marriage and child situation, the game is super duper. Combat is good, visuals are fantastic, the world itself is really nicely done. The weapon and armour crafting/upgrading system is fun to tinker with, and the usage of materials means that you spend more time scavenging than in previous Fallout games. Not much more to be said that others haven't already picked up on.

Anxious to hear more impressions as you go! @ Winter Wolf - I never knew what caused my motion sickness when playing the games or watching gameplay vids; but I rarely keep my weapon out when walking around; and don't have the issue in 3rd person (which is the only way I can play anymore). So I really don't know why, but 1st person always makes me sick fairly quickly; but it is very noticeable instantly in vids if they spin or jerk the camera view as if trying to simulate their character is "looking around" by swiveling their heads instead of slowly panning the camera around to take in the whole room. And in first person running = I first noticed this in Oblivion, where the grass was eye level in first person for some odd reason - I started getting very ill when running in first person. Then I started getting ill watching anyone else run in first person. Well, I think it was SubRosa that told me about playing in 3rd person, and I was actually stunned to see my character head-tracking NPC's and smiling, etc - it was AWESOME! But to this day =- and in any game I try to play or any gameplay vid I watch; seeing running in first person always gets me motion sick now. Not sure why it is, or what causes it; it is just there now. It started sometime in playing Oblivion and just got worse as time passed. (so in other words, it could be me instead of the game itself).

Spot on there. I am spending all my time just scavenging with Dogmeat. Now let me see, does that item have copper, or screws.....lol. Speaking of settlement building, I love the generators and running lines, heaps of fun. You can turn the power off from the generator itself or the light from a wall switch. It is neat that the generator is loud when close up but really quiet if you move away from it. Helps with sleeping, you see. ** Shame about that motion sickness. My Mum gets it bad in cars as a passenger. Me, not so much. Interesting about the 3rd person.

I also get motion sick as a passenger in a car, but am fine driving except: * On a road with a steep cliff on either side http://i1.wp.com/endlesslyexploring.com/wp...eath-Road-6.jpg* On a very high bridge http://www.randomlynew.com/wp-content/uplo...he_Bridge-1.jpg* On a long low bridge over a long stretch of water (example: Crossing Lake Pontchartrain): http://www.travelandleisure.com/sites/defa...g?itok=DJ5yLtp7Where accidents like this are a common occurance: http://media.nola.com/tpphotos/photo/2013/...94-standard.jpg* I actually cried and was in a near fainting state the whole way across the Lake Pontchartrain bridge. It was stormy, the lake had whitecaps and it looked like they were going to overcome the road any second. I've never been so happy to get off a bridge in my life! NEVER again !!!!! Wow, is there a person in that wreck? Or is that just the side mirror or something? The people do not look concerned so it must be okay. Lol. ** I am over 20 hours now and I have been both pleasantly surprised and horrified by Fallout. The game is awesome in so many ways and I will happily sink hundreds of hours into this game. My goal is to surpass Mirocu's number of caps in FO3 and start my own bank at Boston. Ha! With the trading and settlements I might even become some big shot property developer. The downside is something that I will not spoil, other than to say that I have already seen two examples where Bethesda have blatantly stepped all the Fallout Lore from the early games. Yes, Beth has a right to make east coast the way they see fit, but I am still very, very surprised.... This post has been edited by Winter Wolf: Nov 13 2015, 11:58 AM

But Eventually we are going to have to start a SPOILERS thread for FO4 like we have for Oblivion and Skyrim = a place where people can discuss openly and everyone knows going into the thread that they may encounter spoilers in there so to avoid it if they don't want to. I always like hearing whole stories without censorship or editing to protect from spoilers; (and I think Acadian does too); so you will always find me in the spoiler threads - but I know many people don't like them at all.

Looks like mirocu did that, but it may be a good idea to rename the screenshots thread to FO3 and start a separate one for FO4. I'l "report" this just to make sure it gets noticed.

QUOTE(Acadian @ Nov 13 2015, 11:51 AM) I've renamed this thread to indicate no spoilers, making it complement mirocu's new spoilers thread. I've also renamed the FO screenshot thread to indicate it is for FO3. Whoever would like to post the next FO4 screenshot is welcome to create a new thread for FO4 screenshots. Well, except that the Fallout Screenshot thread is not just FO3 screenshots, it also has New Vegas in it. So it needs to remain either just the Fallout Screenshot Thread or the name changed to reflect it contains New Vegas screenshots too. If we leave it just the "Fallout Screenshots" thread, then we can leave the Fallout 4 shots already in it (in there) instead of having to move them. Isn't NV considered an expansion of FO3, the way SI was for Oblivion, and Dragonborn for Skyrim? If not, I'd have expected the new game to be called FO5.

No, most def not an expansion. It was the last legal rights Bethesda won back from the defunct Interplay/Black Isles because they (Interplay) had been given a certain amount of time to obtain funding for their one final Fallout game they held the rights to. When they were unable to obtain the funding in the time allotted, Bethesda took them to court and got back the rights; produced New Vegas - but in a kind gesture toward the original Black lsles Fallout Devs Bethesda invited Obsidion Studios to do the work under their final approval of everything. (Obsidion is actuallyl 6 of the former Black Isles Devs who started their own company under Black Isles former lead Dev Feargus Urquhart). It is technically a separate game from the Fallout Series; holds its own place like it would have if Interplay had gotten to develop it. (and I'm sure it gave the Dev's that had originally started the Falllout Series some closure they were missing from the way Interplay ended them). If I'm not mistaken, Redguard in the Elder Scrolls series is the same way; absolutely not an expansion but a completely separate game (just taking place in the same realm as the Elder Scrolls Series) that was supposed to break off and begin an "Adventure" series of a completely different style of play than the RPG open world sandbox of the TES series. But it went over like a lead balloon, so was dropped. This post has been edited by mALX: Nov 13 2015, 07:36 PM

QUOTE(Acadian @ Nov 13 2015, 01:35 PM) The FO3 screenshot thread now indicates it is for NV shots as well.
Edit: I'm happy to tinker with the title until it is what members want. If a single all inclusive FO related screenshot thread is preferred, we can do that. If a separate one for FO3/NV and another for FO4 is preferred we can do that.
My personal choice would be one heading for all Fallout screens because there really aren't that many and we go back and forth through these Fallout games; but it is really the majority decision on something like this; so if anyone else has a preference on it (speak up). The way it stands now, some Fallout 4 screens will need to be moved and a new thread started for them. Keeping the name "The Fallout Screenshot thread" kind of eliminates the need to move them at all. In all the years these games have been out we've only drummed up 52 pages of screens and comments on two games; really not enough traffic to warrant starting a new thread for FO4 imho.

QUOTE(Grits @ Nov 13 2015, 03:04 PM) My only concern with FO4 screens is accidentally having spoilers come up in the shared thread, not so much from what I post but from whatever discussion might follow. I didn’t plan to post character updates in the Wasteland/Mohave thread for the same reason. I wouldn’t want anyone to have to avoid those threads to keep from having FO4 spoiled for them.
Perhaps a Today in the Commonwealth (with spoilers) thread for unrestricted updates and screenshots? Or should we use spoiler tags in the shared threads and trust that people will move spoilerish discussion to the Fallout 4 – spoiler version thread?
Not really sure how an additional screenshot thread for spoiler conversations about the screens would be necessary. Screenshot threads are already open for spoilers because they can always show a scene someone else may not have seen yet. It is understood there may be spoilers found in screenshot threads. (and there is already a thread for unrestricted conversation regarding FO4 that Mirocu started, so unsure why we would need another one). This post has been edited by mALX: Nov 13 2015, 09:43 PM
