In particular: Most liquorice is used as a flavouring agent for tobacco, particularly American blend cigarettes

Hah! I didn't know that!

I´ll be eating cake tonight biggrin.gif

Actually it´s going to my mechanic relative who always helps me with my car and with whom I have coffee with at so many occasions. Time to pay back a little smile.gif

He´s actually going with us to the show tomorrow.

Really nice, I wish our family was as close as yours! KC's family was the same, they enjoyed each other's company socially too, went on vacations together, etc.

My parents were close with my Dad's parents that way, but once they passed away everyone kind of blew apart.

We´ve always celebrated Christmas, New Years, Easter and other festive occasions together with him and another (more long-distant) relative who lives close to the mechanic ever since I was little. A New Year without those two would be like huh.gif wacko.gif blink.gif

I´m not at all that close with other relatives whom I´m even closer to blood-wise, but such is life I guess.

Relatives you get, friends you choose wink.gif

That is what is going on in my family since my Grandparents died. They were the glue that made everything bond together. When they passed, suddenly no one was going out of their way to spend time with the family any more. Everyone moved to opposite ends of the Continental US and never met for holidays again. The memories of those days when our huge family all got together for holidays and reunions are awesome ones, though.

In my own family, we all met at my house every Sunday for a good dinner, some card games, good family fun. The whole family came on holidays, even extended in-laws - even neighbors popped in to fill a plate of dinner or say Hi. Holidays at my house were a given for everyone. 2 things stopped that = I sold my house and moved into my husband's; and my son moved out of state. Kind of killed all the fun, without him and all the great neighbors, laugh.gif

I’ve got a pretty close extended family, even though the only time we’re guaranteed to see each other is around the holidays. Two uncles and their families are descending on my mom’s house starting monday. That will be followed by a half dozen cousins and seconds during the week. My brother is heading out Wed morning, and the missus and I will be leaving that night. All told I think we have 16-18 rsvp-ed for Thanksgiving, and that’s actually light for us (last year we broke 30).

Good times will ensue!

We´re soon off to the show. We´ll be going by bus and the spectacle should be fun, just like the other times. Though I kinda wanted to go to the woods today mellow.gif

Pfffft!!!! You can go in the woods every day, enjoy this outing while you have it! (or else you will find yourself getting into ruts, like Sheldon Cooper's having to do everything the same way all the time, laugh.gif )

Well you sure would have been welcome! Some of the neighbors sat and ate there, then loaded their plates again before leaving (to get the desserts); but several just loaded up their plates and just went back to the comfort of their homes to watch TV or whatever.

Also, some of the other neighbors had stuff too, and everyone could walk arolund sampling everyone else's Thanksgiving dinner. One neighbor had a huge BBQ grill and used to grill up ham steaks/etc. and anyone that came by could grab up what they wanted from his grill. The girl across the street made casseroles and cheeseballs with crackers.

That neighborhood was just plain awesome all the way around, we had all lived across from each other so long - really cared about each other and helped each other out all the time.

I just now got home, flammit!! laugh.gif

As expected it was awesome!! biggrin.gif Lots of singing, dancing and funny sketches and I think I raised my Acrobatics just watching it all! laugh.gif

I simply loved it! Like last time indoors we sat really close to the stage and got nice eye contact with several of the performers, including the main guy who btw has turned 70! wink.gif His wife and daughter are also in the cast and you can so tell they love doing what they do, messing with each other trying to make the others laugh when they´re not supposed to! I love that bunch, pure geniuses when they enter the stage and it´s so much more fun to see them live as opposed to the tellie. They had a few guest stars too, all famous here, and again so much fun to see them live. I´m so glad we went to see it!

Can´t show you any pixies though but I can assure you it happened! wink.gif

Well, nothing much to report here.

My mum took up knitting a while back, and has been making scarves. She's already made herself one, and my sister one, some odd sort of scarf that's just a big loop, and now she's made me one. But not the loopy kind, just a regular, black scarf.

It's a very good scarf, but between it and my facial hair, I'm pretty much just a beret away from spouting existentialism. laugh.gif

Fortunately, I would never wear a beret anyway, so it's not a problem.

Berets are jaunty, laugh.gif

I used to wear a black and yellow (Pittsburgh Steelers) scarf everywhere in winter, even to work and with my business wardrobe, lol. Some guy who used to dress up like a bumble bee and visit children in the hospital saw it and wanted it, because it matched his bumble bee costume, rollinglaugh.gif

Well, snow arrived to Slovenia tonight but only to the highest parts, so our mountains are now half-covered in snow. Here's a view from my balcony.
