I rather like those eyes, funnily enough Anyway, had a damn good day today, for the most part. Picked up Fallout 3 GOTY for a mere £7 after trade ins, I'd have got it for less but I decided to save New Vegas for later, come back to it after playing a different game for a bit. Got given all three seasons of Vikings, a Firefly t-shirt, and I picked up three dvds; Tombstone, Wyatt Earp, and Enemy at the Gates, for a tenner I ws planning to watch Wyatt Earp later, but since it's three hours long I'll watch Tombstone instead. And play a little Fallout 3, of course. Started a character named Avner, gonna be a sniper type, but I haven't gotten him out of the Vault yet, so he might surprise me. QUOTE(mirocu @ Nov 30 2015, 10:17 AM) QUOTE(mALX @ Nov 30 2015, 04:00 PM) I think Treydog is the one that told me to act out aloud the dialogues to see how they flowed; because hearing them sometimes cues you in to how you would react naturally.
Good method to avoid the dreaded "It sounded good in my head..." Was at the cottage today with me dad Took care of the two big trees we cut down three weeks ago. We put the logs in one place and gathered the remains in a pile to burn at a later date. Should be fun, as always I'll take some of that firewood when it seasons, lol.

QUOTE(mALX @ Nov 30 2015, 03:00 PM) QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Nov 30 2015, 09:58 AM) Urgh. Trying to write a conversation involving a character whose mind is pretty screwed up. Damn thing's kicking my arse, can't see it clearly
I think I need to start getting more sleep.
I think Treydog is the one that told me to act out aloud the dialogues to see how they flowed; because hearing them sometimes cues you in to how you would react naturally. I'll have to give that a try when I get back to it. I think I might leave it 'til tomorrow, stop myself getting stressed out bashing my head against it anymore today. For now, I think my problem is a combination of not having a completely clear idea of how the character's issues would shape the conversation, and the fact that I didn't get as much sleep as I should have over the weekend.

First thing's first: identify the character's imperative within the scene. What does he/she want? What does he/she want to communicate. Now filter that imperative through the nature of her psychosis… is he/she paranoid, psychotic, etc? Does he/she hear voices, or is he/she haunted by the trauma that left him/her 'pretty screwed up?' Remember that everyone sees themselves as the hero of their personal story and go from there. That… and get more !

QUOTE(mirocu @ Dec 1 2015, 11:13 AM) Just paid the handling fee for my license application. As it stated that nothing would happen until it has been paid it didn´t sit too long on my desk... So now is the time to learn some good gun safety practices: (1) If you see something moving in the woods, it may not be a deer/rabbit/flowerpot/(and it BETTER NOT BE A SQUIRREL!!!!!! ) - it might be a person, so site carefully before pulling the trigger. And (2) Don't try to clean the gun by looking down the barrel while buffing the trigger.
