Whoa Lopov. You hit the nail on the head. Heck yeah, I can make in Uber Kness NPC! What a great idea. His roleplay wasn't as deep at Haaf-Mersey's, and Uber Kness also died. Wow, I can total make this guy. I can even add on-screen scripts to make it like he says silly Cyrodiilic guard things.

Edit: and yes, Milkus Drinkus works too.

I'm in the middle of creating a new character, who I will incorporate into Lissa's game. She is a Breton conjurer called Aryana. She is about 16 years old and cute as a button.

I'm currently playing her through the Winterhold storyline until she levels a bit and I get a feel of her. But I'm looking forward to incorporating a new original character into Lissa's game smile.gif

Yeah, it'd make sense for Claire to travel with "Another day, another Septim" guy behind her back. And the best part is that he's not expensive to hire at all.

Since she's supposedly cute, show her to us so we might get a feel of her too. wink.gif

Back with White Wizard, once again. I haven't been with him since April. He is travelling with Brelyna, south to Fellglow Tower, to retrieve some books for the College. Right now, he and Brel are in Forsaken Cave. Just doing some random exploring.

"I'm always glad to help a friend if I can".

White Wizard seems to be relishing his new life, away from his beggar's past. His robes are crisp and new, his magic book is growing. He splits everything his finds with Brelyna, roughly 50/50, which is different from Claire, and way different from Baytor.

Sundas, 1:20 AM
Hours later, Isaac the White sits within Inn, reading The Mirror. What a story! This is about a guy who has a twin brother who he never meets, until one day when both he and his twin are on opposite sides of a battle. The book focuses heavily on Block (and gave WW a block point when he read it), but it holds a deeper tale beyond this.

Isaac the White turns in, barely able to keep his eyes awake, and looks forward to walking to Whiterun.

The Mirror definitely has a good story. The book seems pretty rare in Skyrim, Lucius had the quest "Bring The Mirror to Aldis in Solitude" for a long time and still hasn't come upon it. Are Isaac's blue gloves vanilla?

Hmm, probably not. Actually no, they're not. They're probably added by Frostfall, which adds cloaks, hoods, and other cold-weather stuff.

I just wrote a full update, but for now, I'll just say Isaac the White is begging in Whiterun. laugh.gif He ditched his mage's robes, found a shabby old blacksmith's outfit, and removed his boots, and now he's walking around shoeless asking for a "septim or two". So far, he's gotten a sweetroll from Sigurd, an ore of quicksilver from the guy in Warmaiden's and ten gold from the town beggar! rollinglaugh.gif He also begged from a guard, but the guard says there are "laws against panhandling in this town," which (oops) is a nice touch from the mod author of "Be a Beggar."

Edit: he just met Elgritte Battle-Born, and did not beg from her. She's his age, by the looks of it, and he feels awkward asking her for coin. So at least he has some limits.

Sundas, 10:13 PM, 24th of Last Seed, 4th Era 201

The air is cold, the darkness of night is deep. The air is warm though. This is despite what everyone had told the old man known as 'Isaac the White' back in Cyorodiil. They'd all said Skyrim was a frigid place; and indeed it can be. But not all of Skyrim is this way.

The warm air had caught Isaac off-guard though. He'd removed the magical hood he'd been wearing to keep his old-man's body from sweating unnecessarily. But now that he's arriving here in Whiterun, he puts this hood back on. He does this because he does not want people to be able to identify him later. Oh, not that he'll be committing any crimes, certainly not ...

"Halt. City's closed with dragons flying about."

"Dragons?"

"There's been an attack in Helgen. Dragon burned da whole city to da ground."

"Please, may I pass? I know nothing of this dragon, and if what you say is indeed true, well we cannot stay out here, can we?" Isaac says, pointing toward his dark elf partner.

The guard tells them that they'll need to pay some gold to get inside, but Isaac the White knows how to talk to guards. He knows because he often had to deal with them, back in Cyrodiil, back when he was a common beggar. Before too long, the guard grabs a key and opens up the gate, so Isaac and Brelyna (his dark elf partner) now have a place to go to tonight.

"You look tired, my friend. The Bannered Mare has beds for rent."

"I am tired, indeed. Thank you."

But the pair from the College, Isaac and his Dunmer companion, does not find the Bannered Mare at first. Instead, he winds up in another tavern called The Drunken Huntsman.

"Hello friend. In the market for some hunting supplies?" a red-haired man behind the counter says.

"I am in the market for a bed. Two beds, for me and my traveller, here."

Though Drunken Huntsman does not officially offer beds, explains the red-haired man, he does have a couple spare ones they can use. Isaac pays 20 gold, and is guided to a sturdy cot across the room.

"Thank you very much for your business."

The bed feels great, Isaac falls asleep immediatly, and does not awake for nine hours straight. He'd been doing a lot of walking over these past few days, and walking at his age could be tedious.

---

Morndas, 8:46 AM
He awakes to the sight of the red-haired man (whose name he'd learned is Elrindir) standing over him. Apparently, Isaac had overslept. Elrindir had explained that his place was not officially an inn, but my goodness. What sort of hospitality.

"Okay okay, I shall rise."

"Hello friend. In the market for some hunting supplies?"

"Hunting supplies?"

"Bows and arrows for the mighty huntsman."

Isaac is confused. I look like an archer? ... He's also hungry, and buys some overpriced fruit tea, and a jar of honey to put on his morning bread. As he eats, he muses upon his day, and what will be to come. He hopes to (1) find a place to sell a few things (2) find a place to destroy a couple of magic items he'd found, so he can learn how to use these magics upon future enchantments.

9:32 AM
Again, the air outside is warm. Isaac finds an open-air marketplace, and buys some apples & bread, his supply of gold dwindling to 89. Already, he had spent almost a hundred, and he hadn't even been in this town for 12 hours, yet. He finds a place to sell a few of his wares, but the vendor, a semi-obnoxious Breton named Belethor, quickly runs out of gold. And does not have the items which Isaac needs. Drats. For him to implement a way to collect some gold, all he needs are some shabby clothes.

But never mind. Maybe he won't need those clothes. He finds an alchemy shop, where he can mix up some potions with all the leaves, flowers, mushrooms (etc.) he'd found along the road to Whiterun. He spends hours with Brelyna doing so; she and the shop's owner teaching him a few things. By 3 o'clock he's got several new potions: three which will fortify his magicka, two which will fortify someone's blocking abilities (useless to Isaac, and therefore these potions can be sold), and one which will fortify his conjuration magic. This one would not truly be needed either.

"I offer remedies for ailments, both common and rare. Do let me know if I can be of service."

"You have been very kind and helpful," answers Isaac, suddenly glad he'll be able to walk outside agian, even though a full gale of rainfall can be heard.

The lady, Arcadia, had indeed been 'kind and helpful', but her constant hawking of products and services had been an earful! By the time he and Brelyna leave, they're overly aware of the fact that Arcadia has 'cures for any ailment', and that her shelves are 'stocked with tonics, salves, poultices, and potions.' .. For Shinji's sake.

Since Belethor has not made any gold this day, Isaac and Brelyna head back outside of Whiterun, where a group of Khajiit had been camped. These cat-people had some sort of merchant services, Brelyna reminds her partner. The rain drenches them both, and Isaac suddenly feels the need to take a nap*.

"I have travelled fahh across Tamriel to serve yoo."

"And you have plenty of gold, I hope?"

"Take a look."

The Khajiit sitting cross-legged in the rain has plenty of gold, and Isaac walks away 180 septims richer. But this man does not sell ragged clothes either. His next stop after visiting a couple more establishments is the castle, which is supposed to have its own enchanting table. But first, he goes inside Whiterun's Temple of Kynareth, and then walks into what looks (at first) to be a massive tavern or mead hall. A group of warriors are fighting in here though. Not a place for a couple of out-of-town mages, so Isaac and his friend walk toward the "castle", which is a grand, wooden-made at the top of the town. He walks in here, and finds the court's wizard after a minute's search.

"Come to Dragonsreach to discuss the ongoing hostilities, like the rest of the great worriors?"

"You are, I presume the court wizard?"

"I believe I am, yes. Techinically speaking of course, the town is also home ot a priest, preistess, alchemist, and I'm sure others who practice..."

The man's name is Farengar Secret-Fire, and he offers Isaac a quick task to deliver some frost salts, which Isaac agrees to, hoping for more easy coin. Farengar's manner is haughty and slightly arrogant, but he allows Isaac to use his enchanting table. This sort of haughty arrogance though ... Isaac knows he'll have to get used to it, if he's to become a full-fledged wizard.

He disenchants a couple items he'd been wearing: a set of iron gauntlets and an iron helmet. Both could have been useful to Isaac as he'd adventure in the future, but he simply cannot wear heavy armor. It takes just a few minutes to destroy the two magical items, while Isaac enjoys the magical tinglings from the table. He feels a great power, which pleases him.

"Still here," Brelyna reminds him.

"Okay, now let's find that inn. I need a nap," Isaac says, donning his magical hood once again.

You know? Skyrim has the technology for certain NPCs (like guards and children) to recognize what our characters are wearing. "Wow, look at those robes. Are you a mage?" ... but this doesn't apply to vendors!

"At least something good came out of that trip to Saarthal. We didn't find anything but dust." Brelyna the Dunmer reminds her new, old pal.

Isaac the White grins, while Brelyna falls silent. "Saarthal was indeed quite a vocational experience, indeed it was. If you could have seen within those tombs. Brrr.." He pauses.. "Hey, sorry to bother. I need you to do something for me, once again."

"What is it?" she asks, slightly annoyed. .... "What?" Isaac had interrupted her right in the middle of some ingredient grinding.

"This chest my dear," continues Isaac. "Oh, it is locked. If you could try your spell again...."

"Okay, got it."

She puts down the grinder she had found, and readies her mind for yet another spell, one which her bearded friend cannot cast yet. Annoyed she is, just a tad, but also willing to do whatever he wants.

Brelyna had been new at the College, just like Isaac had. Both of them had shown up at around the same time, along with a group of other mages, spellswords, and a single cleric with a bowl-cut of hair. They had all gone to Saarthal together; a rather important moment for them, but especially for Brelyna, since she had never been inside a Nordic barrow before.... The journey had been disappointing though, for most of them it had been nothing but a wasted trip. They had all gone there, and gotten covered in dust while searching for who knows what?

And then, it was the white-bearded man, the oldest of the group, who had managed to figure out some sort of mystery within the barrow, and had then been able to accompany Tolfdir deeper inside. The white-bearded man calling himself "Isaac the White". This had caused some mild consternation and jealousy. Why couldn't we all go in there? some had moaned.

Isaac had claimed he'd arrived with a group of others, all of them from Cyrodiil, but something had happened to them after they had left Windhelm. He did not know what it had been, but next thing he knew, he had found himself on a snow-covered plain -- Winterhold within visible distance. Isaac had lost his companions. What had happened to them all? .... He apparently knew not.

But despite making it to Winterhold, despite his success at discovering the secrets of Sarthaal, Brel had found that Isaac was not much of a wizard, when up against some real dangerous people. He could cast some fire, and throw a ball of it. He could heal himself. And he could summon a wolf. Besides this, his skills with magic (and therefore his skills during combat) were weak.

He had nearly died a few hours earlier when they'd arrived to Valtheim Bridge on a Jarl-sponsored bandit raid. He'd managed to hit a few bandits from a distance with a variety of fireballs, but when Valtheim's chief had managed his way down from the tower, and into Issac's face, the white-bearded mage had faltered. He'd nearly died matter of fact, even with Brel's assistance.

And because of this, she'd been thinking of having a talk with him. We can't do this all alone... she thinks she'll say. We need another. One more, at least. The man would be foolish to ignore her, as she adds some frost leaves to her mixture. Not only are your battling spells weak, but your constitution too. You grow tired within half-a-day. You cannot take Skyrim's cold as I can.* ... she hopes she won't hurt his feelings.

On the other hand, his spellbook was growing. And he seemed committed to gaining more power. And she was getting some gold, beginning to build what she hoped would become a small fortune, matter of fact. For all these reasons, she thinks she'll continue on with him, until after they locate Fellglow Keep.

But I must share my thoughts, no matter how brusque. Yes, I must. ... and she does.

That’s neat that Isaac the White actually feels frailer in the game than robust young Claire. I was rooting for him to find a market for his hand-made potions rather than resorting to begging. I really enjoy Isaac’s manner with people. He makes me want him to thrive in Skyrim. smile.gif

Last day of Heartfire, and Isaac the White has done so much in just one month. He is still with Brelyna, and a warrior hireling I created named Hugh Mann. viking.gif As usual, it's the team dynamic between the three of these that makes everything go swell. Isaac tends to stand back and cast spells, while Hugh goes in for some close-up action. Isaac can summon draugr now, while Brel often summons a fire atronoch.

They are returning from Falkreath, headed to Whiterun then Winterhold. bluewizardsmile.gif

Good luck with those companions, Renee!

Speaking of companions....

Finally got around to playing a bit of Skyrim today.

Now, one part of Fallout 4 I am really happy with is that companions can jump down inclines and follow you around most of the locations. Dogmeat is quite content to leap down a 10 foot rock and happily follow after me. In Skyrim and Fallout 3 it always annoyed me to have wait and watch them take the long way around.

But today I was having fun in Shadowgreen Cavern and I decided to jump off the skyscraper cliff and fall into the water. It was epic to fall that far! Looking back up at the top I could see Stenvar glitching at the top, he was trying to head back down but the game would not let him.

He glitched and glitched before the physics made he topple over the edge and he fell the whole 15 story into the water beside me.

Ha! Your turn Dogmeat! laugh.gif

Wolf: That does sound fun. I haven't got any daredevils in Skyrim so far, but one of mine once fell off of the bridge at Valtheim Towers. Luckily he fell into the river!

Followers can jump in Skyrim, but not that far. I made note of this in the New Things thread a while back ... I was amazed to finally see a follower jump down a small ditch after my character had done so. That was on Xbox too, so no mods.

mALX: Thanks hon, I bought a pre-made gaming computer a couple years ago, a Hewlett Packard. It came with a mooshy graphics card, so I upgraded to a GTX 760 last year. That was pretty fun going in there; I had to have a friend help me though.

And let me see if I can get that picture to work. I'll try Photobucket this time. Hm.... it's not working so far.

PIC

"Helgen. Destroyed by a dragon. Hahd to believe, isn't it?"

"Would you look at that!"

"What happened here? So the rumors are true. Helgen was indeed destroyed by a dragon. But I haven't seen any dragons about, have you?"

Brelyna shrugs while Hugh Mann pouts. Nope, no dragon.

Hugh is their latest addition; a warrior with typical warrior talents. Bashing things, then smashing them. Isaac and Brel had taken him into their little group after Sir Hugh insisted. We don't need another Isaac had argued, but Brel had not agreed. Just because Isaac could now summon basic draugrs did not mean he and Brel would now be completely safe. There were all sorts of dangers out there, dangers which the pair had only begun to hear about a few days prior.

Helgen lies deserted, while Isaac and his two comrades trek right through to Falkreath..

"In just a few hours, I can crawl under some furs."

"Don't mess anything up while you're here."

"Listen. Just listen to the two of you. And a man of my age, leading into the unknown."

Breylna shrugs while Hugh Mann tries not to roll his eyes.

I agree with Grits. I'm using AFT with FCO and the dynamic of two followers is 'different'. It 'feels' to me more like they are talking among the group. With one follower it 'feels' more like they are just talking to themself since the PC is basically pretty non-responsive to dialogue. Not sure I described that very well . . . .
