I've got some mandarin pancakes. They're alright, nothing special. Need more fruit in them, I think. This ends today's random post. Tune in next time! This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Dec 12 2015, 11:19 PM

They're alright, but I always have the same problem with mandarin. I don't speak a word of it. Ba-Dum-Tiss!

Looked up Banished; I actually kinda like games like that, building settlements and assigning people to do stuff. The Resident Sage was mighty generous for giving you this :thumbs up:

They will learn to love to work, or they will learn to love the lash- Err, I mean, the villagers are probably on strike for some holiday breaks or something lol

Bold = I did wonder if they were striking for more housing - or maybe coats. But I was afraid they might procreate if I gave them better/more houses; and that would mean more food needed (and since they stopped working the food production is down) And they could have new coats if they would just build the hunters lodge or trading post; because the tailor's house is almost done - just no way to get skins to make the coats, lol. They have all the materials they need, just won't work. And now their health is down - probably from over-crowded conditions in those houses, lol. I think there are 5-6 in each house (but that includes children); but I've set up houses for them to work on closer to the Hunter's shack I'm trying to get them to build, and they haven't built it either. They also refused to build a hospital or an herbalist's shack; so can't heal whatever is wrong with them, lol. GAAAAAAAH! Oh well, if the village dies, I have learned a few things from this playthrough. I'll just start again. This post has been edited by mALX: Dec 13 2015, 05:59 AM

Growing a sustainable village is something of an art. The least miscalculation can trigger a death spiral. In the months I played I never mastered it, but do think I learned a thing or two or three. During one of my town's two major spirals it came so close to extinction I had pretty much given up hope and didn't throw in the towel only because of the time I had invented in it. (I want to say it happened at around the 100 year mark, which makes it the second major spiral, but might be wrong.) It's been too long since I played to recall what might make citizens cease working. I'm pretty sure that catching certain diseases can cause it, but that's super easy to spot. Does not having proper coats during a cold winter cause them to idle? (Pure guess.) I really ought to fire up the game again, but am so rusty I fear my village will crash and burn before I relearn what little I knew. For nostalgia's sake, here's my village at 2 years and again at 100 years. The second view isn't all that impressive for a hundred year old village, but by then much of the settlement was located elsewhere.

I'll have to learn a lot of something to get a village to last that long, lol. These are fantastic, Decrepit! I so loved my second city, but it was winter and only one person left - starving and freezing. I was setting up the town and putting everything on pause, then one at a time having them build in order of need (like gatherer's huts and hunting lodges first, etc). But I couldn't get them through the winter. After that village I dropped down the difficulty level and went to easy instead of medium - got the next village through to level 5 befoire they died. This one is at level 7; no one has died yet, but the average health has dropped down to 3 hearts instead of all the hearts lit up. The average happiness level is 5 stars, but I just can't get them to work at all. (no wonder they are happy, lol).

Where there's a whip, there's a way!Hey I remember that animation! That was waaaaaay before my time but I watched bits of it somewhere and that song, along with the Witch-King's ridiculously electronic voice, implanted itself in my memories! Haha @Mirocu: Still mad as a hat but you already knew that so up is what and by the way do you want some rats? @Callidus: Like you wouldn't believe.

Oh I'd believe. I was expecting it to be a trainwreck from the moment EA got permission to develop it.
