I'm kinda depressed about it; the graphics are BEYOND THIS WORLD. Imagine what they could do with that, if they mixed it with a well written original campaign.

I'm the eternal optimist, yo. Even if 99% is against me, I'd still root for the 1%. In this case I got wrong. Damn EA... This is Star Wars we're talking about, and a franchise that is a cult classic too. SMH TBH.

I've been damning EA since they got hold of Bioware. And there are plenty of others who've been doing it even longer But the optimists were kidding themselves really, EA was only ever going to do one thing, the same thing they always do. Run it into the ground.

Well, my people made it through the 10th year winter! I took them all off their chores and put them all into building to get the herbalist shack/hunters shack/tailor shop/and hospital (because they all got some disease) - so their health is up to 4.5 hearts and they now have coats for another winter.
So far no one has died! All the children grew up and began working; so I have 29 workers. Since the disease no more children have been born.
Anyway, as a reward for their hard work and making it to their 10th year I had them build a house finally; a nice stone house closer to the forest where the herbalist and hunter shack are - and immediately two moved into it!
So maybe once per year or so I'll build them one new house; maybe they will procreate again. After they got the hospital and herbs, the next year they built a gatherer's shack and a school for their children (the children they are not having anymore - so I turned the teacher into a builder temporarily, lol).
But anyway, really proud to have survived the striking workers, disease, and made it to 10 years.
Oh, and here is something odd - The chickens got too many for a pen, so I split them off into different pastures; they are overfilling 4 pastures now (and there are eggs out the butt in the store barns) - but only a few chickens in the storebarns, and none to sell at the new trading post!
And how do you buy sheep?
So - I have to figure out how to work the trading post.

A plague of chickens! Sounds like your game's going well, lucky you. I'm having a terrible day, game-wise. This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Dec 13 2015, 05:10 PM

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Dec 13 2015, 11:09 AM) A plague of chickens! Sounds like your game's going well, lucky you. I'm having a terrible day, game-wise. It is, I have three large pastures and one kind of medium one - each is supposed to hold just 60 chickens, but they are getting overcrowded in there. And when I split them, half of them disappear, but they aren't showing up in the other pens because they are over full already. So where are they going? Not into the food supply, and not into the trading post for some reason. I'd like to be able to sell chickens if they multiply that fast, lol.

Can you like, trade with other players in Banished? That'd be like, so cash and diamonds if you could.

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Dec 13 2015, 11:18 AM) You must have some kind of chicken/rabbit hybrids or something YES! The chickens are breeding like rabbits!!! I think it is single player; but you can trade with NPC's at the trading post. I have offered up cabbages; eggs; venison; and wheat - trying to get some sheep/fruit/vegetables/textiles. So far no NPC's have come to the trading post though, and it has been up a whole season.

uuuummmmm . . . No children???? Be careful. Be very careful. As your aging citizens begin to die off . . . it's gonna happen . . . there must be younger folk to take their place. Each private home holds only so many people . . . either five or six if memory serves. When that number is reached a house produces no more offspring. Complicating matters, villagers remain able to bear only until a certain age. At some point, before it's too late, you need to create new homes so that younger adults can move in and create more citizens as replacements and/or for village growth. That of course creates problems of its own as you then need more resources to warm, clothe and feed them. There is supposedly an ideal homes-to-population ratio that provides a good chance of sustainability (assuming all else goes well). I never quite figured it out. Looks like you already know trading is how you get sheep and other needed items. This post has been edited by Decrepit: Dec 13 2015, 06:02 PM

Looks like you already know trading is how you get sheep and other needed items. Yes, I did get worried about the not procreating for 3 years, that is what made me break down and build them a house. I knew I needed a trading post to get sheep; just don't know how it works - how to get the NPC's to it or how to trade with them. I have set up for it to trade certain items as soon as the merchant traders arrive, but none have arrived. Will I be notified somehow when they do? And I didn't see sheep on the list, only meat and textiles. (and really wish I could trade away some of those live chickens). You will be visited by a number of traders. They don't all carry the same items. You can ask them to bring you only certain things, if it's on their choice menu. I never bothered with auto trade so can't help you there. Yes, the events window will let you know all trader arrivals. BTW, you can trade for a wide variety of plantable food crops and fruit/nut trees, as well as several farm animals. It's beneficial to grow/herd a healthy selection, but isn't something you have to rush to do. Starting in hard mode, my village had no farms, orchards or pastures for a number of years, with no great harm done. Just after lunch I fired up my village for the first time in well over a year. It quickly became obvious that I have forgotten too many basics to attempt carrying on without first relearning the ropes with a newly started settlement. Don't know that I'm up to that, but won't rule it out. This post has been edited by Decrepit: Dec 13 2015, 06:39 PM

It quickly became obvious that I have forgotten too many basics to attempt carrying on without first relearning the ropes with a newly started settlement. Don't know that I'm up to that, but won't rule it out. I found the vegetables and fruit on the "Purchase" page; but no sheep were on there. I was guessing they may be under meat or textiles, so put an amount of each of those up (but no traders have come). I thought the hunters would bring in enough pelts for the tailor to keep everyone in coats, but the coat supply remains at zero in the store barn; and a few of my people were getting cold this past winter so I knew they didn't have coats. (although there were also two houses that didn't have firewood even though there was a good store of it in the supply areas - not sure why they were freezing when firewood was available) - so what I did was cancel all chores till the beginning of spring, and everyone stayed inside till the bad weather broke. Oh, this is exciting if you are going to play too! I am loving this game so much, so tickled SubRosa gave it to me!!!

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Dec 13 2015, 06:55 PM) I'll admit, I'm starting to get somewhat curious about this game...
Same here. It sounds entertaining. Mirocu: Hello bird! On Battlefront: I hoped that one of my favorite childhood games would make a triumphant return but sadly it looks like it has returned in a gutted and uninspiring gemeric laserfest. Aside from beautiful locations, the game is pretty unimpressive all around.
