QUOTE(mirocu @ Jan 3 2016, 04:57 PM) QUOTE(mALX @ Jan 3 2016, 10:55 PM) It is starting to get cold here now Howīs the house doing? Havenīt gotten an update in awhile Lining up repairs right now. I've got all the quotes in and contractors lined up except for the gutter repair/replace and the retaining wall - have no idea how much those will cost; but have the plans and am having several different companies quote how much they will charge for it. The first company meets me on Wednesday. All repairs begin in 2-3 weeks depending on when the home equity loan closes, so hoping this good weather continues. I've picked out the refrigerator and going to pay for it tomorrow; but it won't be delivered till the repairs are done. It is very pretty, a black 26 cu. ft. Samsung side by side (didn't want the French door one). I have been planning out the front landscaping changes - really wanting to get rid of all that fencing and rails in the front and make one deck entry without all the wood rails everywhere so there is a clean view of the house (would have to extend the deck several feet in two directions to do that). Next: Don't like the lattice that is there, want to replace it with new framed lattice with the frame border a different color (as in something like this) : And also want to cut out all that other framing there so it is just open other than the three section privacy lattice shown above. The lattice will give any privacy needed, but keeping it open will show more of the house. Plus - I always planned to have the shutters and trim painted a better color, but truthfully - would also really like to paint the whole house about 3 shades lighter if at all possible; and go with more color on the trim. Most def changing the colors of those shingles on the roof when they replace them. Lastly (when all repairs are done) - going to add flowering plants and bushes to the window boxes and in a few places around the front; add a small table and chairs on that front porch behind the lattice to enjoy the morning sun there. I've made pictures of the house as it looked when we bought it (the ones I posted on here) - when it is done will post the changes, and hope I can get some of my ideas done for the money we will be getting in the equity loan.

QUOTE(Acadian @ Jan 5 2016, 10:21 AM) My understanding is that the ice maker models can be bit troublesome to fit into your pocket.

Sooo... basically -5 then. We had -15 today, actually thatīs the way I like it. Still cold if you donīt do anything Btw, 22 Fahrenheit is 267 Kelvin, and both are on the plus side on the scale. Iīm tellin ya, Celsius is the only sane way to measure temperature! It actually shows minus when it freezes!! I like Fahrenheitl; because the lower and upper 1/4 of the scale shows the extreme heat and cold; but still survivable temps. Below the scale or above it is un-survivable temps; (and the middle 2/4's of the Fahrenheit scale are varying degrees of comfort). So if we Fahrenheit-ers see any minus sign at all, we know not to go; where as technically weather below freezing but above zero is survivable so we can still keep plugging outdoors if we need to, just bundle up more and keep handy some extra precautions (like I carry extra warm clothing and a blanket in my car below freezing, etc).
