laugh.gif I had a dream where I discovered a formula for an equation that was undiscovered. The equation took up a whole blackboard at school to write out, but every time it worked perfectly - like an E=MC squared moment. So when I woke up, I tried to write the equation down before forgetting it, but the more I wrote the less I remembered what the equation was in the dream.

I've never forgotten having that dream, but can't remember the equation to save my life, lot of good that does me, laugh.gif

And what a loss to the world. You might have come up with anti-gravity, faster-than-light travel, time travel, a new unified field theory, who knows...? I'm getting sad now wink.gif

I've always felt like the universe reveals its secrets to us in our sleep, which is why/how some dreams can be/have been proven to be prophetic - and maybe why we are meant to forget them when we rise.

When I was carrying my son (pregnant with him); I suddenly started to dream poetry, and kept a pad by my bed to write it down on when I woke (hopefully before I forgot the dream).

Most of the time I couldn't remember more than the first two stanzas of the poem and the concept of the remainder of the poem. But some of the best poems I've ever written came from those dreams (real poems, not like the rhymes I put up on here for a joke).

When my son was born, those poetry dreams stopped, as if they were a part of his soul and not mine because they were only there when he was inside me. So I have put away those poems to hold for him; maybe he will use them as lyrics for one of his songs. (He has written +25 songs since he was 15 years old).

I always get kind of jealous when people start talking about dreams. It's been over a decade since I've remembered having one. sad.gif

People with breathing troubles or sleep apnea stop having dreams, it is one of the warning signals your brain isn't getting enough oxygen while you are sleeping. I think because dreams occur during REM sleep; and if you have trouble breathing your oxygen level goes down and your brain can't get into the REM phase of sleep because it feels like it has to fight for its life/protect itself from the lack of oxygen or something.

If they have a sleep clinic at a medical center near you, should go ahead and be tested, let them measure your oxygen levels while you sleep/your heart rate, etc. while you are sleeping.

I doubt that's the case. My asthma isn't as bad as it used to be(I haven't had an asthma attack or anything in years), and the preventer I'm using is particularly powerful.

Personally, I figure that I'm just subconsciously blocking myself from remembering my dreams or something. Before I stopped remembering them, I had about a six month period where I was having some particularly unsettling dreams, which freaked the [censored] out of me. Haven't remembered a single dream since they stopped.

You might be deliberately keeping them away then.

Sometimes I'll get the occasional flash, something along the lines of deja vu, that gives me a sort of heads up that they're still happening. I don't think I'd find the dreams as bad now as I did then, but those flashes still kind of freak me out.

So it's probably just as well.

Yeah, when he started writing music I wondered if maybe he would use them as lyrics for his songs or something.

Your medication for asthma may cause strange dreams, I've heard some meds give you some really awful dreams.

I've had so many visions that came true (in a certain way) that everytime I have a strange dream that I'll fully remember, I think of that as some kind of warning/prophetic vision/whatever from the powers that be and be alert for any IRL going-ons that might be it.

It's so uncanny, so eerie, that I'm starting to believe in higher powers that work in bipolar ways. As for deja vu.. Ha! Don't get me started there; the amount of "hey, I think I've been here before in my dreams!" kind of moments I have are ridiculous!

I've had two dreams that were vivid and felt poignant; and both of them turned out to be prophetic. The first predicted the breaking up of my marriage; the second a huge family rift that would set two family members adrift from the rest. There was no doubt they meant something important that had to do with both things; and at the time I had them there was no indication either would happen. But a year later, they both did.

So I have to agree with you on it being a warning. These dreams felt different than the average dream; I did feel like they were a clear message of trouble ahead; and both dreams centered around the people that eventually were affected - so yeah, I think they were prophetic.

Those were the sort of dreams I was having, but mine were more accurate. There was no "certain way" for me, things played out exactly as they had in the dreams. I once got into an argument with a couple of my friends(one was asking the other out), because I was adamant that he'd tried before, and been shot down. Of course, they hadn't had that conversation before, but I remembered every word of it.

Considering at the time I was an atheist, and didn't believe in destiny or any kind of higher power anything, you can see why they'd freak me out.

I tend to get a couple of those deja vu moments a week. The other day, for instance, I had one when my dad was telling me some random factoid from a magazine on computing. I could swear that he told me it before, in the exact same words, but he'd only opened the magazine a couple of minutes earlier.

On an utterly unrelated note, GOG.com sales are just dangerous.

I made the mistake of checking out their sale, and picked up Total Annihilation(with the expansion, one of my favourite RTS games ever), and Total Annihilation Kingdoms(the fantasy equivalent that I never got to play, with expansion) for 99p each! biggrin.gif

I´m fine with going outside, as long as there´s no people around tongue.gif

And I guess there´s people in Poundlands... But if you go to a Poundland in Norwich you might come across Ashen and if you do, remember to greet him with "bop-beep-bop-beep-beep-bop - Hello!"

I totally miss the 99p shop. Foodwise, Poundland is just boring mainstream stuff (though they do stock good tools), but the 99p had all sorts of interesting pickles and condiments and things like olives stuffed with anchovies. You're lucky to get just a plain jar of olives in Poundland. But we do have a local Lidl that opened recently, so at least I can console myself by feasting on kangaroo stew or reindeer steaks...

So Wednesday- we got 3 inches of snow, which meant I stayed home from work. Now it is important to understand the snow fell in my part of the state, but not in the state capital- so if I want to avoid death and dismemberment, I get to use my vacation. (I have the vacation days, and I am too old to think I am invincible anymore. And even if I am- my 17 year old truck isn't and I don't want to have a car payment).

It did not melt in time for me to feel safe going on the Thursday either- though I felt guilty about that.

So- today- with dire predictions being predicted, but not until late in the day- I roll out at 6:30 and do my hour and a quarter drive to work. Where I find the state capital has declared THEY will be going home at noon. Then- 15 minutes later, they decide, No, they will close down ALL state offices, because it is snowing THERE. Whereas here- where I live and work- we didn't see the first flakes of this storm for another 10 hours...

But hey- paid Friday off- without having to use my vacation.

We got almost 5' at our house, and the snow was still thick enough yesterday afternoon that my son got stuck on our drive and had to walk at least a quarter mile up to the house. So tonight he drove all the way to west Knoxville to work, and if they don't close early I'm going to be worried sick. I am hoping they send them home before the roads ice up.

Tennessee has been declared a state of emergency in advance for the ice about to cometh, urk.
