We officially have lights and heat at my son's house; although the heater is making an odd screaming noise inside the house for some odd reason. But it is cranking out the heat big time. I shut it off till I could find the source of the shrieking noise inside it. It sounds like the fan is protesting; maybe it needs oil or cleaning; maybe it is hitting against something in there. Whatever it is, it needs fixed.

The water is also set up to the house now, but I have also shut it off temporarily till I can have a plumber find the leaks we have been told it has. (Plumbers come tomorrow).

Whoever lived there before didn't bother to label any of the breakers, so today I marked off the heat pump and the hot water heater. I'm going back with a black sharpee and fill in the rest so I know what each breaker does.

Today we got a quote on tree trimming; I am still reeling in shock from that.

I'd rather fix the most complex of computer problems than even think about meddling with central heating boilers. I think they're actually magickal devices, they have daemons trapped inside them or something. (Hey, maybe that's the source of the shrieking?)

No it's banshees that shriek. Demons roar, I think. Or is that Hippogryphs?

Sounds like progress, mALX. Problems are to be expected but nothing major it seems. I´m glad you have it (sort of) up and running happy.gif

Banshees wail - well, so my old mum used to say, claimed she used to hear them going on half the night, can't have been easy getting any shuteye. But, yeah, not demons. So what entity shrieks then, we should help mALX diagnose this..?

Oh, and I suppose a hippogryph would make eagle-like noises or a sort of raptorish whinny if it also mixed in its horsey nature...

Glad things are coming along, mALX. As mirocu sort of said, expect some growing pains and bumps with an older house. Nice progress though! goodjob.gif

Well, Rome wasn't built in a day. At least it liveable now, or will be in a day or two when you can get the water back on.

Given our variety of time zones, the only safe reply is

Unless you're at one of the poles, then you're in the right place all the time. It's the only way to be sure...

Personally, I'd consider either of the poles to be the wrong place, all the time

mALX, congrats on the house progress! Good luck with the tree trimming. I've learned to hold onto something while the tree guys give me a price.

mirocu, what is a storage tent?
