QUOTE(mirocu @ Apr 27 2016, 02:14 PM) QUOTE(mALX @ Apr 27 2016, 06:06 PM) You don't do anything halfway, that is for sure! I can't wait to see the tent fully done, and am dying to know the plan for its use! It is most def a huge tent! Impressive, as you always are when you are building! You are an amazing builder!
I canīt take full credit here, Dad is definitely part of this project. But thanks Here are some pics. Censorship has been added to protect the guilty innocent Canvas timeGoing upMore than halfway there (Whoooa! Living on a prayer!) DoneWe used the trailer as ladder supportFirst shelves are upIt was a bit of a pain to put the canvas up. It was heavy and kept getting stuck on everything, it even got a small hole in one place. Itīs not a disaster though as the canvas is of no-rip design which means if a hole appears it wonīt get bigger or tear up the canvas. The tent is meant as storage for all the bits and bobs from my childhood home, including everything that was in the cellar and garage. There was a ton of stuff and Iīm sure most of you can relate A lot has been moved and the tent is already getting too small. We have to use our brainz and organize it, but thatīs actually the most fun part in this project. I love doing that You should be able to patch that hole, if you need what is inside protected from precipitation/moisture/the elements. Most tent "kits" come with a couple patches for just such an event, but I've never seen a tent quite so big or with such heavy tarp to it! *mALX puts away visions of the living quarters inside the tent that she had imagined ... * http://imgur.com/KfeI26Thttp://imgur.com/2eUwm9K

QUOTE(mirocu @ Apr 27 2016, 03:00 PM) Yes, we will patch that hole at some point. There is a glue we can use and the hole is not bigger than the head on a three inch nail so it wonīt be much of a bother. The stuff needs protection but weīre not putting anything in thatīs actually sensitive to the elements that we must close that hole immediately In the US now they are laying a 6 millimeter plastic tarp as a moisture barrier on dirt floors of crawl spaces under houses; and you can use them in tents as well as long as they are not laying flat where water will run in on them. They have to be taped up on the sides so water runs under them and not onto them if it goes beneath the tent or crawlspace. I am spraying a moisture/mold/germ killing spray under my house to kill any microbial germs/etc. down there and then laying the rolled plastic down - taping it up the cement block walls of the crawl space so no more moisture can get into my crawl space from now on, just have to finish pulling the old insulation out of there first. Then I'll put up all new insulation and the crawl space should be immaculate!

That sounds like a good idea, similar to what they use when building garages like the one we built for the tractor. We donīt have it though because Dad didnīt think it was necessary plus I think he wanted to save on time = money. We would have needed it though, but I guess we can live without it. Awesome! That should do the trick, I imagine Itīs kinda nice that weīre working on these projects. Almost feels like weīre in on this together This post has been edited by mirocu: Apr 27 2016, 08:27 PM

You have inspired some things I want to do around this house, just seeing how you did it at yours. Truth!

What I'm finding it hard to figure out is where the stuff came from. Do you now have a bunch of empty buildings whose original content got moved? Or is there some humungous heap that never quite appears in any of the pictures?

It's from all those years of looting dungeons in Cyrodiil and the Capital Wasteland! SubRosa wins the internet today with that answer The more boring answer is accumulation of things during at least three lifetimes. My grandpa, my grampa and my dad have all brought stuff home from their respective work places that "can prove useful someday". None of them ever threw anything away either and thus, the scrapyard weīre now digging through was born And the moosehead goes to Acadian!

QUOTE(mirocu @ May 3 2016, 09:45 AM) Just a little pic from today. As I said, the tent quickly became too small We are gonna start throwing stuff away now, though. We simply canīt keep all the scrap metal and broken chainsaws anymore. Holy Cow, it is really getting filled up! Two things: 1. I really like the way you have set up that wood thing to hang tools on the left of the picture. 2. What good is that bench with all that stuff on it? get the junk off it and use it to sit on while you work!

Thanks. Yeah, that work bench is really neat to have QUOTE(mALX @ May 4 2016, 03:12 PM) 2. Weīre in no way finished yet

QUOTE(mirocu @ May 17 2016, 09:54 AM) The Rocu cottage project Today our electrician buddy came over and finally we have electricity in the shed!! We put regular sockets and fluorescent lights on the inside and a lamp on the outside, plus a special socket on the outside with which to run high-powered electrical things. Itīll be interesting to see the lights and lamp this evening, canīt wait Now all we have to do is fill the ditch which gives me a reason to play with the cavator Pictures, or it didn't happen! (and you have to take them at night so we can see the lights working! )
