Looks like Bethesda can't get anything right when it comes to mods.

I am singularly uninformed for a change. What is it now?

Mods as in player-made changes to the game or Mods as in Community Moderators? Because if it's about the latter, I totally understand and sympathize; the mods at the other forum I'm at are totally indifferent idiots.

Other as in opposed to the Bethesda forums; meaning ... uh...here? BWAAHAA!!!

Just like the new forums, Bethesda's attempt at hosting mods is a farce.

The short version is that mods are being pirated from the Nexus and put up their, and Bethesda wants the mod authors to file DMCAs if their mods have been pirated.

Beth's community management skills have never been top notch, but it actually seems that they're getting worse.

I've seen a few mods on Xbox that someone has ported over from PC , presumably without the author's express permission, and those all vanish from the mod site after a few days. I didn't realise it was a full on application of DMCA.

As quick as Bethesda has been to jump when anyone usurps their content without permission, it seems odd that twice now they have refused to act when mods were pirated for projects they were involved in the running of. (the first time of course being the paid mods fiasco on Steam)

I´ll cover my eyes. You tell me when it´s ok for me to watch again!

I don't know if they were at that point. But it seems that the piracy going on is on such a large scale that Bethesda might just be trying to hide behind paperwork to avoid dealing with it.



Considering that those are nuts, this might well be the most literal representation of "chesticles" that I've ever seen!





I honestly don't think that Bethesda put any thought into the idea whatsoever. The systems for regulating and moderating mods should have already been in place before they launched the thing. Not only did they not learn anything from the paid mods debacle, but it seems pretty clear that they have absolutely no interest in supporting the modding community.

And I found this, seems like this mess is getting really big, really fast.
