Ha! I would have thought that was the same movie! Glad you've got things up and running.

I guess there aren't any Ford Falcons on Mars. But there might be astronauts in Oz. I was amazed at how alike the two movie settings looked too!

Nice set you got there, SubRosa! Does it have the Framemeister so you can play retro games on it without lag? biggrin.gif

I don't even know what that is. But it sounds like a mad scientist that created a monster... Dr. Framemeister!

QUOTE(ghastley @ Mar 17 2016, 04:09 PM) *

Wait, is that an Alik'r TV?

With a Curved Screen. Curved ... Screen?

nyuck, nyuck, nyuck. I thought the Alik'r screen would be weird. But it seems perfectly normal when I watch it, curves and all.

My new 4k disc player came today! I took back the upconverting player I bought with my new tv a few weeks ago, and used the money to buy some 4k blu-rays. It looks just amazing. The first thing I tried was actually an old Sharpes Rifles blu-ray, and even a 20 year old movie made with a low budget is just eye popping. The actual 4k discs are even more astounding.

I had a laugh while seeing what the 4k movies looked like.

Mars

and

Australia look a lot alike...

Awesome picture your set gets! And nice JAPANESE statues in the background, BWAAHAA !!!

Yes, great Japanese statues! wink.gif biggrin.gif

I took a tour of the Dodge Viper assembly plant today. I am not a gearhead, but I still thought it was pretty neat. They are the only factory in America where the engine is built in the same plant where the car is assembled. In contrast to other factories, the cars are hand-made. The only robots were to take measurements of the chassis and punch the holes into it where the body parts are mounted. Then there are some other robots that measure every seam between body panels after it is assembled to make sure there are no gaps out of spec.

They make 3 cars a day here. Every one is built to order. Where other plants do one car per minute. Obviously the difference in quality is astounding.

The very first Viper ever made as a concept car

The first production Viper

The interior of the first Viper to win at Le Mans

Another Le Mans winner

Another Viper

The air filter is built into the hood. When the hood is closed, it makes a perfect seal around the top of the engine.

You can see some of the factory behind this one

An ACR version - these things have about 640 horsepower

Wonderful shots, SubRosa and thanks for sharing. They certainly are imposing cars that absolutely ooze an aura of 'sex on wheels'. smile.gif

Awesome shots !!!

Little piece of family history

My grandpa has a few more of these. I've seen the contents of two of them. They are his last visits to Nicaragua, around the time my dad was about to be born. They're shots of him mostly around Managua, the capital city, but there are some of him around his home in Rivas. One of the reels has him at the parade the held when their president was assassinated.

I've never been yet, nor have I met his side of the family, but I'd love to go one day.

Oh for sure. One of these days I'm going to take him to Costco and get them made into DVDs.

As for seeing his side of the family...doubtful. They've shunned him because he's deaf :/ The ones that are here in the US even gave him the wrong information for his sister's wake. From what I hear, they're pretty horrible and for my dad's side to actually be fine cutting off family (they're very family-oriented, to a fault even) speaks volumes.

I'm on a congress roughly 1300m (4300 ft) above the town I live in (Maribor), and there's snow up there! Lots of snow actually, I made it to the top thanks to my car's four-wheel drive, because roads weren't well cleared yet in the morning so a lot of my colleagues had to turn around halfway to the top, return to the valley and get to the top with gondolas.

In Maribor, as usual, we don't have any snow, only rain.

Snow blanket from one of the rooms

My half-cleaned car after it stopped snowing and they made more parking spaces "parkable" again by clearing snow
