I'm hoping to get rid of this crap weather. I've got to go 'round the cornershop at some point and get some milk, but it's been raining pretty much all day. Not particularly heavily, I'll grant, but persistently.

I picture you strolling around a quaint, English street with white houses on both sides with milk bottles in your hands

Edit: What milkman? No need for one when I can get four pints of milk(whole milk mind, not that semi-skimmed stuff) for a quid 'round the corner, milkman can't compete with that.

But..! But...! I´ve seen milkmen delivering milk in Midsomer Murders! You´re saying that´s not true!?

They're still around, but I guess they're becoming less common. I can't even remember off the top of my head the last time I even saw a milkfloat. But they can't compete on prices.

In Schleid Germany, the farmers would come by in a truck and sell fresh milk, eggs, bread, cheese, etc. - and yeah, the milk had cream in it. It was very cool, the whole neighborhood would come out and buy what we needed - who needs a store when there are farmers nearby!
