Urg, mALX. I hope the tree and insurance folks can get that tree removed and the damage is not extensive. kvright.gif

Geez blink.gif

But if it was his tree that fell on your house, surely he´s responsible for letting it grow so close to your house? I think that´s how it is here anyway.

And yes, I know you made that food. It looks great smile.gif

It isn't close to the house at all; this tree (I found out this huge thing is just a branch off a massive tree in his yard - all the trees around here are between 100-300 foot tall with 30-50 foot branch spans) is at least 30-35 feet long and is 1/3 on his property; laying over both his and my 6' privacy fences; and hanging on powerlines that are about 30' off the ground. The top of the tree with all the leaves and branches is what landed on my deck and roof; which my deck is at least 50 feet off the ground on my property.

So here is the law on it here: IF the tree is diseased; has insect damage; was dead, etc. before it fell; then the neighbor has to pay for it. However, if the tree was healthy and the storm was just so great that it just knocked a healthy tree down; then it is an act of the gods; and our own insurance has to pay for it; minus our deductible.

Well, judging by the healthy pink of the wood inside and the vast amount of green leaves this thing has on it, I am betting it is healthy and removing it and fixing the damage is going to cost us (rather than the neighbors) verysad.gif

Of course, we can't see the roof yet; but so far it seems only one gutter is warped badly and will need replaced; which means the wood right there may have been compromised as well. But the tree removal - since the power lines are not to our house; and since the majority of the tree itself is on the tree owner's side; I really only want to worry about getting the branches that are leaning over my roof and any damage to my own house fixed; only remove any part of the tree effecting my property; not the whole tree.

As it is, our deductible is ridiculously high because it is so rare anything happens to your property to need to claim, right? At least in all the years of owning my own home; then living with Bob at his = never once had to file a claim; unlike car insurance.

Some pictures of the storm that knocked the tree onto our house; and we were not the only ones that had that happen; there were several pics of trees down. Here are just a few:

That was on Thursday; and the circular rotation of the storm can clearly be seen. Friday's storm was all straight-line winds barreling down like a juggernaut at 70 mph - Friday's storm was worse overall because people were killed in it.

The worst of these storms hit Treydoggie's neck of the woods the hardest; has anyone heard from him? I hope he is okay.

Man, you get some serious weather over there. I do hope Trey is ok too, and that Decrepit (doesn´t he live around there too?) and you mALX will continue to be ok as well.

Where does Decrepit live?
In a house. Well, it passes for one so long as the inspectors keep away.

Yes, I believe we are in the same broad vicinity. Leastwise we share many of the same storm fronts. I get 'em before you, living about 45min - 1hr west of the Mississippi in the northeast part of Arkansas. The nearest in-any-way-major 'city' is Jonesboro, where my brother lives. (That house, originally my parents', was totaled during a 1973 tornado outbreak, then rebuilt as it is now.) We've relatives in Tennessee, though I've not visited or kept in touch with any of them since mom passed away over ten years ago. (Ours is a very small clan, destined to become smaller yet as my brother and I are both dedicated and content bachelors.)

I see your post and raise you a post. Except that would be a double-post- which is almost as bad as double-dealing... But not quite as serious as four-flushing... although that can happen after bad (insert appropriate ethnic food type here)

I heard you wanted me back, so here I am.

Sorry for how I acted not so long back, I was very angry at the time as I was still in the process of discovering myself and coming to terms with many aspects of my identity. I have now discovered myself in terms of my gender(well ok not fully but mostly), my sexuality, my world views(well the basics of my political and philosophical views but those are never really set in stone are they?). Sad to see politics related drama as I always thought we could do a politics thread as long as everyone acted civil and provided sources and what not but I know all too well that politics is rarely if ever civil, if anyone is interested in discussing that kind of thing in PMs though I'm all for it.

Since I left I just turned 16 and am happily in my very first relationship with my long-distance boyfriend smile.gif

I identify as nonbinary and I accept any pronouns but if you don't mind I'm trying out femme pronouns(She/her) as no one ever really uses them with me and I want to try them out.

I am happier now than I have ever been.

So nice to see you back, Impy. Nice thing about our little chorrol family (which includes you of course) is that sometimes we can disagree or even argue, but we still accept and love each other. I’m glad to hear you’re learning more about who you are; the teens are a challenging time indeed!

I hope you're having a wonderful birthday!

Thanks so much, I am!

I'm glad you are so accepting, even with people I love I still live with the fear my identity will not be accepted.

Oh Impy, you are a big part of our Chorrol family; we are all here for each other when going through the tough times; and like Acadian said - at times every one of us has blown off steam on here; but we care enough about each other to put it behind us and move forward as a community. This is one place you can always be yourself - even if you haven't figured out who that is at the time; we are here for you regardless.

I am so glad you have worked through so much and are finally finding some happiness! Awesome! And so glad to see you on here, you have been so missed!
