I've never really understood that expression. What kind of balls are we talking about here? Tennis balls? Bowling balls? Snowballs?

But I picked up four trilogies, so I've got plenty to read now, hopefully without any loose ends. Gaaaaah, er ... was that about my story? It did kind of get left hanging ...

I... erm... got a little distracted by various things... erm... so I haven't actually gotten through it yet

GAAHH! The woman looking at my license request still keeps giving me problem! She now asks for a specific reason for my new hunting rifle. Hunting rifle. Geez. What kind of geniuses do they have at the police these days? In any case, I told her I´ll use it to hunt rabbits and rats and I´ll also use it for target practice since it´s so cheap to shoot. Didn´t mention home defense if no heavier caliber is around though

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Sep 1 2016, 09:37 AM) I'm pretty sure that that's a question that should be asked of anyone buying a gun, just on principle. Especially when they already own several.
Thing is, .22lr is a pretty weak round. It's not exactly the weapon of choice for most criminals or terrorists, at least not in a rifle format. With a tiny, easily concealable handgun, I'd understand. Especially if the owner has more powerful firearms, the weakest current production round with the highest misfire rate would be a poor choice for criminal use against people. Just my opinion, not stated as a fact or as an official forum stance. I'm sure the owners would probably lean more toward your line of thinking than mine. I just look at the .22lr and see a weak round from a ballistics standpoint. A round so weak that it isn't legal to hunt most non-pest animals in the US with it.

There are so many varieties of hunting rifles for hunting different animals that one can´t own just one or two and he´ll be covered. You can´t hunt rabbits or ferrets with a .30-06, at least not if you plan to do something with it after you shoot it. And you can´t hunt deer or moose with a .22. There´s also the cost issue; it´s vastly cheaper to practice your shooting skills with a .22 than with a .30-06.
The only time this should be questioned is when someone is suspected of having committed a crime. Also important; innocent until proven guilty. I have not done anything ever so why am I being questioned? I´m a trained and licensed hunter, what reason could I possibly have for owning firearms?
Also, I can lie through my teeth about the purpose. What matters is my history and like I said, I´m a trained and certified hunter and there is plenty of evidence to back that up. As a law-abiding citizen with this background, I should not be questioned.

I sense this discussion will not go well... Look! Over there! And what's that behind him? A Jedi Umpire?
