Decrepit - I can't see any sheep in the above screens; black, white, or otherwise! All your sheep are missing now? And ... if you can say it on a family site ... how do you breed sheep in Minecraft? And ... what causes them to disappear?

Color me intrigued, laugh.gif

I can't see sheep in their Lower Plateau pens in the posted image either, though when blown up there is one whitish blob that "might" be a sheep of that color. My first thought was that those pens are beyond animal render distance. (Donkeys can be seen in their corral, but it's a bit nearer camera position.) I then blew up the original .PNG image. Now several sheep can indeed be seen. The whitish blob is indeed a sheep. A light gray sheep is vaguely seen very near it. Further right another light blob might be a sheep or two, but it's hard to tell. In the left-most pen I see a few pixels of what is likely a yellow sheep. I think the problem with the posted image is a combination of distance with quality loss due to resizing and conversion from .PNG to .JPG.

As to breeding, in the case of sheep (and cows), feed a pair wheat and POOF . . . they reproduce. Sheep colors hold true so that if you breed two, say, orange sheep their offspring will be orange. Breed an orange with a yellow and the lamb can be either color but no other. There are fifteen sheep/wool colors. Several are natural. The rest are produced by dying sheep, which retain their dyed coloration and breed true to it. Sheep can be sheared repeatedly. They regain their wool coating by eating grass, which means they must be housed in enclosures floored with regrowable grass blocks.)

I've never quite figured out what causes animals to vanish from their housings. I believe console versions have/had a hard limit to the number of animals/mobs that can exist within a given area. So far as I know this does not apply to the PC version. I do know it's possible to avoid all or most animal loss. My old crappy looking wool pens almost never lost an animal in their years of existence, though it took a lot of tinkering to reach that stage. In fact I needed to remove two of those old pens coz they lost animals at at alarmingly fast rate. Nothing I tried solved that. Yet pens next to them, built to the same standard, had no losses. Problem with these new pens is that, being built for looks as much functionality, I've less flexibility in altering them. I made one change, which cut down on the number of sheep each pen comfortably holds, that has reduced loss to a reasonably acceptable level. (I noticed one of the Autarch's "lost" light-gray sheep roaming the wilderness the other day. It had already been replaced so wasn't worth the effort of lassoing and returning to its former pen.)

I'm gonna correct one thing I said. Here's a quote from the Minecraft Wiki explaining it:

"When lambs are born, they will usually be the color of one of their parents, chosen at random. However if the parents have 'compatible' colors (meaning that their corresponding dye items could be combined into a third dye), the lamb will be a mix of the parents' colors (see Wool Dyes). This holds true even if one or both of the parents have just been sheared before breeding and have not yet grown their coats back. This is a handy way to obtain wool of a color for which you do not have a dye. In Pocket Edition, however, lambs will not combine the colors of their parents."

An example of this would be breeding a yellow sheep with a red, which should produce an orange lamb.

The Autarch took an underground Nether passageway from the Hill Fort to one of his distant overworld branch-mines. There he gathered a wealth of ores and gems, discovering but not (yet) exploring an abandoned mine complex in the process. Pack stuffed with valuables he returned home and spent a good while smelting iron and gold and breaking down all newly collected redstone, lapis lazuli, and coal blocks with a FORTUNE enchanted diamond pick. (He originally mined them with a SILK TOUCH diamond pick to conserve storage space and thus allow him longer mining sessions.) That done he converted many individual resources into blocks, again conserving storage space. (NOTE that these final pure blocks are not the same as the raw unrefined blocks he originally mined.)

ARK wise, I once again allowed the game to update overnight. In fact I stopped using the computer at 2000, giving the game more time than usual to do its thing. It's still not finished, though I'm relatively close . . . or not, depending on download speed, which fluctuations all over the place. In a best-case scenario I've less that two hours to go. Worst-case, it'll be days. Reality will obviously be somewhere in-between. The download indicator most often hovers between four-plus, and twelve-plus hours. I'll go with that. Gonna be an absolute drag to not watch YouTube videos for all that time (especially during my TMJ exercises, which will commence once this is posted) but I'm gonna try my inadequate best to stick it out to the bitter end this time.

ADDENDUM: Well poot! Left the download running while I visited a clinic lab (cholesterol check) hoping it would be done by my return. The connection to steam had timed out while I was gone. I'm definitely closer than ever before, but not there yet.

HOLY CRAP !!!!!!! That is outrageous! What would cause an update to download that slowly? An UPDATE !!!! Not even the whole game !!!!

Urk, that is awful! But it actually does explain why sometimes days go by that we don't hear from you, when I've been worried your health was causing your absence - good to know that it might just be your slow-as-heck internet provider!!!

I'm in a similar boat. Got an ARK update waiting, but I'd need to leave my xbox on all night to download it.

Been playing Total War:Attila recently. Really enjoying it, though it's more challenging than previous Total War games that I've played.

Still playing Total War: Warhammer a lot too. Regular content updates are keeping it fresh.

I'm completely intrigued by this new outlook on the game though; this is all news to me!

I'm playing the PC version of Ys: Ark of Napishtim and Oath in Felghana. Napishtim makes me miss the voice acting, Oath in Felghana makes me wish it had voice acting. Still it's nice to be able to play these wonderful games again.

For the moment almost totally Oblivion, though I observed the Autarch branch mining in Minecraftia on several occasions.

Had a frustrating session this evening. Watched the gang do a well-nigh perfect patrol of the Blue between IC and Cheydinhal. They eventually reached their destination, turned in two delivery assignments, grabbed new deliveries (for Chorrol), and downed a quick lunch. (Vil drank hers.) They were about to exit the inn and head to the city gate, where I would have made my game-save of the patrol. Then disaster struck. I wasn't paying as much attention as I should at that point. I didn't notice that, while pressing the key for him to rise from his seat by the inn fireplace, the cursor was hovering over a table plate. Next thing I know a guard materializes and begins his arrest spiel. At that point I exited the game. I also lost all evidence of their entire Cheydinhal patrol. (Had this SNAFU not happened my report would have appeared in the proper location rather than here.)

"STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!!". Man that's rough. Majorly sucks when you accidentally take something stupid like that and have the guards do their thing.

Splitting my time between ESO, Overwatch, Warframe, and Total War: Warhammer.

Played Overwatch more than usual last week to help a friend get the Witch skin for Mercy, and I'll probably be playing less until the christmas event.

I've had an urge to play Mass Effect all week, but my Xbox 360 is in a box somewhere and it'd be a faff to dig it out.

Nice! The Witch was the only one I wanted, and I got Junkenstein too. I'm really hoping that more characters get stuff for Christmas - the lack of Halloween skins for some characters was a little disappointing.

Speaking of Overwatch I think the Sombra is going to be the next hero but its still unknown what she'll do. I doubt she'll be a tank or support so Assault or Defensive is probably where she'll be at.
