QUOTE(Dark Reaper @ Jan 11 2017, 07:11 AM) QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Jan 10 2017, 10:59 AM) Really hoping Soul Calibur VI is announced this year.
If they can make SC6 like SC3 it could bring the series back, SC5 was alright but they could really have done better with the story mode. I mean we had new characters and not a darn thing was done to flush out their characters. Hopefully Namco has learned it's lesson, story mode for all characters. Loved SC3. Soul Calibur 5 had the best "Create-a-Fighter" of the whole series, second place goes to 3's, and 4's was just a mess. The rest of SC5 though was just bad. Hated that they took away series longtimers and replaced them with crappy imitations of them. Honestly, if ever a game series needed a reboot, Soul Calibur definitely qualifies.

Some days ago I updated Minecraft to the current version. As is often the case following an update, I created a "putz around" world and have been playing it relatively hot and heavy ever since. I don't take such worlds overly seriously in that none contain a lick of artistic construction... only my primary Minecraft world ("Autocracy of Decrepia") attempts that. Nor do putz-around worlds last overly long. I usually play 'em until I've accomplished all the basics ... enchanted diamond armor and gear, full crop fields, full animal pens and so on. I then tend to lose interest and either return to Decrepia or move on to some other game.
This particular putz-around world had an interesting start. My avatar spawned within view of a village. The village contained a chest full of goodies... iron boots, iron helm, iron leggings, iron sword, iron pick, five iron bars, several gold bars, and a few odds & ends. That plus being able to harvest plenty of food from village fields gave me a great advantage over my normal starts. Problem was, it made me over confident. I elected to explore a cave complex right away and was destroyed by two zombies. This triggered a series of equipment recovery attempts, all destined to failure. By the time my avatar at last reached his death site his gear had despawned, leaving him with absolutely nothing (other than a leg up on food thanks to the village). Been amassing stuff the old faction way ever since, with much success, except when a creeper snuck up on my avatar as he chopped a tree. By then he was clad in full iron armor. I thought the creeper's blast would damage but not kill him. Wrong. On the plus side, item recovery was super easy. And miracle of miracle, the creeper blast didn't destroy a single item.
Before breaking for supper tonight my avatar had at last created an enchanting station, and put weak enchantments on his (still iron) armor, sword and bow. He also enclosed the village within fencing, though not before a zombie took out our one farmer. Have cow and chicken pens, and a tiny six-oak tree farm.
I'll likely get in another session tonight.

QUOTE(treydog @ Jan 14 2017, 11:13 PM) Still Borderlands 2- chasing challenges and trying to get Gaige the Mechromancer to level 50. Also started a Krieg the Psycho character (which I had not anticipated doing- but... it was there, so I did).
I really need to get back to that at some point. I completed the game once with Zer0, then got wrecked by everything when I took him into TVHM. Think I'll have to try Axton, just for the turrets. Assuming I don't go bouncing right back into Borderlands 2, I'm hopping back and forth between Pokemon Moon, Skyrim, and Mass Effect 2 at the moment. Scrapped the Vanguard in ME2. It was fairly amusing, but point-blank shotgunning just isn't my style. Started over with an Infiltrator instead, much better fit for me And my Skyrim character's a bit of an oddball. He calls himself a Tactician: heavy armour, one-handed, destruction, illusion, alchemy. He might pick up another skill or two along the way, I don't know.

Currently playing the old Kingdom Under Fire games. Man they were fun. Very challenging with a blend of RTS and third person fighting. The story was excellent too with plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained between strategically positioning your units (lest ye be destroyed) to support eachother and personally hacking away hordes of your enemies.
Sadly the series was handed off to another developer that went with some really poor choices and the last game was totally different from the old ones. It was so bad I never played more than thirty minutes of it. It was a mindless hack and slash with no armies or varied unit types. It was, simply put, a terrible game.
That said, the old ones really are great games worthy of playing.
On an unrelated note, I am really looking forward to the new Mass Effect game. I don't get excited too much about new games over the last few years but Mass Effect games (and Bioware in general) have always been strong performers.

Morrowind MQ completed (only with one character, I'm running several), so Tribunal gets turned on next.
Actually Clark and his two companions already have it, as it was required by the companion code, but nothing has shown yet.

It did at least seem climactic, although it walked a fine line between saying "you're done now" and implying there was still work to do, and you could keep playing.
The use of a hard-to-access location helps. You have to go there, and in Oblivion it came to you. Skyrim got back to the formula with Skuldhavn and Sovngarde, and that helped.
I've done the games in an odd order: Oblivion, Daggerfall, Skyrim, Arena, Morrowind. Oblivion was "current" when I started on Elder Scrolls, and Skyrim wasn't out yet. Morrowind had disappeared from the stores, but Daggerfall was a free download. Skyrim I avoided for a long time because of Steam, and I bought the Anthology to play Morrowind. However, on Win 8, I found it unplayable (no cursor), and took up Skyrim (and Arena) instead. Morrowind got its chance when Win 10 cured the compatibility issues.

Since adding Diablita and Angeline to the game as a companions mod has turned on the Tribunal DLC, I've just had my first DB attacks and am embarking on a side-trip to stop that.
I gather that this should be a minimal visit to Mournhold, until the character has a few more levels, so we'll get back to regular Morrowind stuff asap.

Man Morrowind is fun. I need to get it on PC so I can update the graphics and replay it again.
It is still my most nostalgic gaming experience and I love it.

I started another character to test the dual-companion mod start (find them in a shipwreck) and the new Orc has had a couple of DB assassins already by level 2. A visit to Mournhold to say "no thank you" is up soon.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Jan 19 2017, 03:56 PM) Funny thing, I played Morrowind before Oblivion but I didn't make the connection between the games until years later.
Lol, say what?
