Fun fact, Jesse was going to originally be killed in season one but he turned out to be too popular.

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Jan 22 2017, 02:37 PM) Last week I started blitzing my way through Breaking Bad. It had been on tv a while back, and I'd been recording it on my digibox, but at the end of season two the box stopped recording them for some reason. I'm now at the start of season three, so I'm into the new stuff. And I still can't believe that it's the dad from "Malcolm in the Middle" Loving the show. I never realized how powerful an actor he was capable of being when he was playing Hal, lol. (!!!!) That is one of my favorite series show, SO well done! QUOTE(Decrepit @ Jan 22 2017, 01:39 PM) Watched episodes 3-10 of GOT season 2. That's it for me GOT wise for the time being, not owning seasons 3-5. I'm hyped to get those, but only if I can find 'em at a substantial discount. Things about these episodes that come readily to mind...
...I liked how Arya-as-prisoner-at-Harrenhal was handled. Interesting interactions with Tywin. ...I liked most everything involving Tyrion and/or Varys. ...I didn't like Daenerys making idle threats to the 13 (or is it 12?) outside the city when she had absolutely no way to back them up. I don't recall the books making her act that stupidly. Then again, it's been a while since I last read 'em. ...I prefer the books' insignificant Lady Jane Whatshername over GOTs stronger Talisa as Robb's love (?) interest and ultimate downfall. ...I'm not yet sure how I feel about how GOT handles Jon-as-prisoner-of-wildlings. ...I don't mind the changes to Shae. ...I liked how Theon/Winterfell was handled. ...A nit-pick that bugs me to no end. Stannis did NOT wear a helmet during the Battle of Blackwater. I know why movies / TV films tend to do this, but I don't have to like it. ...So on and so forth.
I also loved every scene with Tyrion, he is one of my favorite characters. The scene you referred to with Daenerys - I kind of think she was acting totally normal there. They lured her to their gates with the promise of welcome, knowing they would be starving and dying of heat and dehydration (because the reputation of that city was a grave at the gates; she had sent a representative there to make sure they would be welcomed). So then she gets there and it was a trick. She and her people are starving, and were tricked. So it was kind of a righteous anger, desperate rage knowing they would all die without help - not to mention her Targaryen bloodlines, which were known for their wrath. So I kind of felt like it was a suitable response in that scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=In7YGhGt9DwI so love that show; that whole story !!!! Wish to heck GRRM would stop touring and finish the books!

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Jan 25 2017, 07:05 PM) I started the 5th season of The Clone Wars yesterday. That means the Onderon story arc, which I loved. This time around I keep staring at Saw Gererra, so young and rash and headstrong and in his prime. I cannot stop comparing him to the wreck he turned into by the time of Rogue One. You can see it is the same person. But wow, life was unkind to him.
It also has me wondering whatever happened to Lux Bonteri? I always liked him. The last time we saw him Onderon was freed from the Separatists, and he became their Senator in the Galactic Senate. So presumably he lived to see the rise of the Empire. I suspect that would have been one of the first rebels. He had always thought the Republic was corrupt, which is why he was originally a Separatist. He only changed sides because Dooku murdered his mother. Then the Jedi - Ahsoka in particular - re-inspired his faith in the Republic. I am sure he would have instantly seen through the sham of Order 66 and the supposed Jedi coup attempt. Palpatine's New Order was everything he had always suspected the Old Republic of being. Given that the Jedi taught him to fight as an insurgent, I am sure he would have used that experience against the Empire.
Khajiit needs to watch this series again. There is much forgot.

Just finished binge watching Ascension, only to find that one of my new favorite shows was cancelled after one season. It's too bad because the premise is unique (I won't ruin it) and the cast is good but it has a Firefly-esque ending. There is a total cliffhanger and then the show is over.

I've been forced to abort, or at least delay, my Breaking Bad binge. Y'see, the boxset I got for christmas is all cardboard, there's no plastic holding the discs in place. And going by the dent on one of the corners, it got dropped quite badly at some point. When I unwrapped it, not knowing it was only cardboard, I didn't think anything of it. But that impact has taken out the last season and a half, I think. All those discs have shallow scratches, dozens of them close together, each about an inch long, covering an area of up to three inches on each disc. The last one I attempted to watch stuttered badly through the first episode, but couldn't even hold the image for the second, rendering it completely unwatchable. Fortunately, this version comes with a digital download of the series(presumably because of the substandard packaging), so I can download that and still watch the series, which is something. I'll be doing that up at my mum's on tuesday but until then I gotta find something else to watch This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Jan 28 2017, 10:40 PM

Really wish someone would put Into the Badlands on their service. New seasons about to start and this one needs to catch up!

Still gonna mean a delay, but I don't mind waiting on it. Hopefully the replacement won't be dropped in transit. And the first thing I'm gonna do is take every disc out of that crappy cardboard sleeve and put them all in a case. I just watched Drive Angry. I love that film. Sure, it's excessive and gratuitous, not to mention outright insane. But it owns it. Right from the start it's upfront about exactly what it is: Damn good entertainment

Nicholas Cage plays a dead man who's broken out of Hell to stop a cult from sacrificing his granddaughter, and is being pursued by "The Accountant". He hooks up with Amber Heard, a muscle car or two, and some guns along the way. A great deal of carnage ensues.
