Boy that was one dusty flight stick!

The only Mechwarrior games I've played were the two on the Xbox, and the abomination spawned for the DS.

Closest I've gotten on the 360 was Chromehounds, which was kinda fun.

There is an old DOS game I used to play over at my friend's house. It's a helicopter game where you fly in a valley and shoot tanks and other helicopters. It's much fun but I can't remember what it was called.




Oh, well. Better sleep on it, I guess.

MechAssault was ok, if a bit arcadey. Didn't like MechAssault2. The MechWarrior series games were mech simulators. You could choose your mechs' loadouts and define your role in combat. Do you want to pilot a long range fire support mech, prefer to wade in with devastating close range weapons, or have a balance of both? You also had squad members who pilot their own mechs that you can give orders to. The missions are objective based (take out this airstrip, defend that base, destroy all enemy forces, etc.) and objectives can dynamically change based on your decisions and/or changing battlefield conditions.

I think I had that game! Apache Longbow might be it. There was another one though. I think it was called Comanche. Yes, I did have Comanche!

I have only played Mechwarrior 2, and its expansion Ghost Bear's Legacy, and MW2 Mercenaries. I loved those game. I even found a way to get them to run again on my modern computer using Mech VM. They are still a lot of fun.

Khajiit didn't have a decent enough pc when those games were out, but he did have the Playstation port of MechWarrior2, which was his first MechWarrior game. Later he got MechWarrior3, MechWarrior4:Vengeance and MechWarrior4: Mercenaries. Good times!

Would really like to play MW2 on PC to see what was different between PC and the PS port, so thanks for that link!

Funny thing, I do have a game called Longbow but it's not this one. It's a sim where you also can fly the Kiowa and Blackhawk.

Downloading the MW4: Mercenaries stuff was a complete failure. Must try again today.

It will be cool to see a new MW game after so long.

Battletech looks cool too. It's a turn based strategy game, similar to Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity. But with Battlemechs!

MW4? My copy just says MechWarrior: Mercenaries. Are they two different games?
