Er, if it has crab in it, this one will eat it with gusto, lol. Dunno, it sounds scary.

Shopping for groceries Monday I spied a new (?) Campbell Soup line on the shelves, marketed under the odd blanket name Yes!. I bought two cans, each a different soup. Tried one Tuesday, the other Thursday. Campbell says Yes!. I say No!. Neither was terribly bad, just bleh. Maybe some of its other varieties are tastier? Yesterday's Fuji apple was super yummy, comparatively speaking. Not the best Fuji I've ever had by any means, just the best I've eaten in some time. My last two sit-down restaurant meals occurred in (different) Oriental eateries. One thing I thoroughly enjoy about such meals is that I get to use chopsticks, which I was forced to learn during my two year stay in Japan during the late 80s. (Unlike other Asian countries I've visited, back then Japanese restaurants did NOT cater to Westerner sensibilities by providing Westerner cutlery. We either learned to use chopsticks or confined ourselves to entrees requiring no more than a spoon.) Now, I don't claim to be a master at it, but at my best I'm pretty good. Problem is, as with most aspects of my life I tend to fluctuate between satisfactory and inept. So it was with these two meals. Visit one went like a charm. Chopstick usage felt totally natural the entire meal. I don't recall making a single slip. Second trip? While not an outright fail I'd have been embarrassed had anyone been watching me. Took several tries to properly "hook" each bite as often as not, and I made a number of drops... most while still hovering over the plate, thank goodness. That said, I struggled on and finished the entire plate without reverting to fork. I'll end with a cheerful little video titled The Coming Banana Apocalypse. He refuses to use a fork with Asian dishes/at an Asian restaurant, but he is at best simply capable of using them. Not skilled st all! QUOTE(Cain @ Feb 3 2017, 10:49 AM) Pizzeria Pretzel Combos.
Khajiit loves those. Even better with a Coca Cola. This post has been edited by TheCheshireKhajiit: Feb 3 2017, 05:57 PM

Lol, this one thinks the key is that the drink is sweet and carbonated! Enjoy!

My Grandmother made us learn to eat properly with chop sticks at a very early age. All of us were very adept with them throughout our childhood. My parents didn't keep it up after she passed away though, even they began using utensils instead after she was gone. It has been a long time, and your post makes me wonder if I can still wield them with at least minimal deftness, lol.

Khajiit feels that eating a dish as the people whose culture created it would is part of the experience!

I'll old enough to recall eating Gros Michel bananas during early childhood yet don't. I would of course not have known them by that name. But you'd think I'd recall a time when bananas tasted "better", since I have that complaint about so many of today's foods. Come to think on it, I wasn't a big banana fan in youth. That prolly accounts for it. I'm with ya on chopstick proficiency. These days I'm fortunate if I wield 'em six time a year. Last year I it was only thrice. That's not often enough to stay in shape, in my opinion. Not gonna let that stop me when the opportunity presents itself.

QUOTE(Decrepit @ Feb 8 2017, 07:14 AM) While filling my cart with groceries at Walmart this Monday it dawned on me that I didn't need a full-size loaf of bread to see me through the week. (Disclaimer: I don't actually "fill" a cart with groceries. Truth to tell, most weeks only apples, bread, and eggs (if I buy them) are placed in the large main section of the cart. Everything else comfortably fits in the tiny upper section.) I came to me that I could make do with a small loaf of a more high-end bread. I settled on Dave's Killer Bread 21 Whole Grains and Seeds Organic. Was more expansive than the full loaf of lesser bread I normally buy, but this was a fairly "lite" week for me grocery wise, so I wasn't worried about going over budget.
Boy o boy is it yummy! World of improvement over my normal bread. Has a sweeter taste than I'm use to in breads, which is often a minus for me, but here it works to advantage. No complaints whatsoever. I of course won't be buying it again. Too far out of my budget. But I do recommend it (for flavor) highly for those who can afford it.
Our store has a stand for "Day Old" specialty and gourmet breads that (the day prior) was made fresh by the store's bakery. They are between .99 cents and 1.50 per each loaf, which is actually lower than the fresh bigger loaf of Nature's Own (and the bakery is happy to slice it for you if asked). I became hooked on getting this tasty bread instead of the big loafs too. It does mean an extra trip to the market sooner than would be needed with the full sized loafs, but - really worth it in flavor.

This one likes to get French Bread from those and make French Toast with it! QUOTE(Dark Reaper @ Feb 8 2017, 12:26 PM) I just had some coffee and sausage and cheese biscuits.
Khajiit likes a nice sausage and cheese biscuit slathered in grape jelly!

... ... (urp...) Lol, it's something about the spice of the sausage and the sweetness of the jelly that does it for Khajiit!
