So full of 80's cheesy goodness! That and Big Trouble in Little China are a couple of Khajiit's favorite movies from that era!

In other news I did listen to Dagon - War of the Worlds when I was at work Friday. It was really cool. It does pick up where The Shadow Over Innsmouth left off. The protagonist from SOI makes a brief appearance in War of the Worlds as well. It is an entirely new story, inspired by HP Lovecraft, and from real life The War of the Worlds radio broadcast. Basically it is the latter, but with Deep Ones instead of Martians. It was a lot of fun.

I also forgot to mention that a while back I listened to The White Tree. It is another original radio show by HPLHS. This one is a story of Inspector Legrasse from The Call of Cthulhu. It is a very neat mashup of a KKK group that have blended into cthultists. So far everything HPLHS has done has been outstanding.

Shouldn't these be going into the "Now Listening Thread", hmmm? tongue.gif j/k!
Khajiit still needs to check these out at some point.

TBH, I don't know if they should go in the Now Listening thread. They aren't songs, but stories, so I decided to lump them in the movie topic.

I listened through most of The Brotherhood of the Beast today, another Dark Adventure Radio Theater show. I say most, because this one has 4 endings. Each is a different plan that the protagonists have to choose from to resolve the cosmic horror that they uncovered. I have only listened to 2 of the endings. This is really cool, it is like those old Choose Your Adventure books. But in a radio program.

BoB is also neat because it is not only an all new story, but it is a gaming tale, based off the Fungi From Yuggoth adventure for The Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game. I remember this! I had it, and I was going to run my group through it, but never had the chance. I went looking for it just now, but could not find it or any of my old Call of Cthulhu rpg books. They might not have survived my last move. Or maybe I gave them away. I cannot remember. In any case, it was really cool. It brought back so many gaming memories.

That's cool that you had this experience!

I finished the last two endings of Brotherhood of the Beast. Wow, they did not pull any punches. Our team of intrepid adventurers really paid the price for saving the world. Well, in the endings where they did! I hope they make a sequel to it, as one character's fate sort of hangs in the balance (at least in one of the endings).

I have traded a few more emails with Sean Branney (one of the people who runs HPLHS, and stars in and co-produces their movies and radio shows). He told me that they did have Guillermo del Toro over to their offices more than once, and suggested to him that they go in on doing an At The Mountains of Madness movie as an indie film, rather than a big studio venture. The studio killed his Mountains of Madness movie idea, so maybe? I heard that del Toro even had Tom Cruise on board to star in it. Tbh, I just cannot see Cruise starring in a Lovecraft film. Or it being a big summer blockbuster. There is a fan base for Lovecraft, but not that much. The smaller indie movies like the ones HLPHS did work much better for Lovecraft.

In any case, these are some really cool guys.

Perhaps the studio thought the same thing. But they probably killed it more because there was no romance in it, and no happy ending. And it was going to be expensive. I honestly don't think any Lovecraft movie that costs 150 million to make is ever going to come close to making that back at the box office. There just isn't that kind of audience for Lovecraft. The only way to do it is in an indie movie.

Yeah this one agrees. Not to mention there are people who denounce Lovecraft as "racist".

I am finally watching season 3 of Rebels. I just finished the Imperial Supercommandos episode. I had already realized that Kevin McKidd plays Fenn Rau from the previous episode Rau was in. Saxon's voice in this episode sounds familiar too. Now that I see the end credits, I realize why. Ray Stevenson does his voice! How cool to have Legionary Pullo and Centurion Vorenus in the same episode! Of course they are both Mandalorians. smile.gif

Titus Pullo!!! Vorenus was kind of "meh" in Khajiit's opinon, but the poor guy had a tough life.

Master Manly Pullo: Of course, your best method for pleasing a woman is the warm, beating heart of an enemy. I mean, women'll say they don't like it, but they do. Makes them wet as October!

I think my favorite Rome quote was this:

Mark Antony: He let Pompey go and you let him live?! The man should be made an example of!

Caesar: Any other man, certainly. But those two, they found my stolen standard, now they survive a wreck that drowned an army and find Pompey Magnus on a beach. They have powerful gods on their side and I will not kill any man with friends of that sort.
