Good thing you got your lawn mowed! Seriously, I hope it passes without damage to chez Decrepit or your chariot.

Unless I overlooked something I escaped unscathed yet again. Oddly, though not much time has passed, we've now a lovely blue morning sky with only a few small non threatening clouds to break the monotony. Heck, if the streets weren't underwater I could get in my quasi daily walk without worry. There'll be more weather threats moving through later today and again tomorrow. Yeah, no way could I mow today, even should we get no more rain. The ground is far too waterlogged, with low spots submerged. Too, the forecast has worsened, showing rain/storms off and on today and tomorrow, a partly cloudy Monday, rains/storms Tuesday, a partly cloudy Wednesday, then rains and storms Thursday through Monday, where the forecast ends. Things can change for the better between now and then, but I'm not counting on it.

Rough night. Severe weather rolled through beginning around 10pm and lasted hours. Heck we can still expect storms until mid morning, though at the moment now are predicted to be severe. Won't know if any damage was done until it gets light enough to venture outside for a look-see, assuming its safe to do so then.

I am vindicated, though I fervently wish I was not. At lunchtime about a week ago, on a day following a stormy night, I noticed water standing atop a portion of one of my kitchen counters near its back where it abuts a wall. (Not an outside wall. The one separating kitchen from computer room.) I looked and looked but for the life of me could find no evidence of where the water came from. I finally gave up and asked my next door neighbor, who does home repair, to take a look. He couldn't find a source either. He said I had to have spilled something and not noticed. I reluctantly accepted that verdict, though I could think of absolutely nothing I had done that might have led to a spill of that sort. In the back of my mind I could not quite believe it. Yet how could the water have gotten where it was without me causing it?

I checked that counter top at least once a day. Nothing new... until the heavy rains we had before the batch last night. At lunchtime that day I again noticed some water in that same area. Again no source could be found, but in this I "had" done a bit of very minor cleaning atop the counter earlier that day. I was very careful during that cleaning, but could not be 100% sure I had not somehow missed a bit of water spillage. This was bothering me more and more.

During last night's rains, as I was about to retire to bed, I thought to check counter. This time heavy rain was still falling, rather than me checking after the fact. Plus, I had checked the counter after supper and knew it "should" be dry. VOILA! Water atop counter. I could even see a few droplets dripping down from above. So far I've tracked the leak to the area around where the stove vent is, though exactly where the leak originates within that area still eludes me. It sort of magically appears where it shouldn't be. Still, I've enough evidence to once again badger my neighbor for assistance. (The water's passage before it reaches the counter top is rather convoluted, making it easy to see why we didn't spot it sooner.

By the time I ended my water leak investigation I was keyed up. Between that and near constant thunder so loud even I had no problem hearing it I likely got no more than 2hrs sleep, at best.

Chance for rain and/or T-storms these next three days. Nothing severe is mentioned as of yet. Was able to mow much of the yard yesterday evening to avoid over tall grass when this ends. (A portion of my back yard was too waterlogged to mow yesterday.)

Today and tomorrow scary rain/storms day, with the worst danger as of now the potential for heavy rains, as much as 1.88" today and slightly less than that tomorrow. Flash floodings expected. Rain is expect to begin by 0600, no exercise walk for decrepit me. Nor will I get a chance tomorrow if the forecast holds true.

ADDENDUM: A forecast change moved the start of rain/storms back an hour, allowing me to get in my walk by leaving the house earlier than usual. (I could have left a bit later, but didn't want to risk it.)

Hope I'm not jinxing myself saying this, but while we are still on a Flash Flood Watch until sometime tomorrow, the forecast now predicts appreciably less rainfall than it did early this morning. Today's rains, at one time predicted to begin at around 0630-0700, still haven't arrived, though they are currently expected to before long. Tomorrow is still predicted to be solid rains and storms until at least mid-afternoon if not later. No walk for me. Then again, I said the same about today and had no problem getting one in.

We've had a bunch of storms last week. One of them was really intense. The air was hot and sticky, but then a huge storm blew through. It went from hot / sticky (sun shining occasionally) to a full storm in about an hour, just like the storms we see in Oblivion. Trees were blowing in the wind, and occasionally a lightning bolt would hit within my neighborhood, rocking the house and causing me to cower! indifferent.gif

I still love storms though. I can't help but rush out into them for a few seconds, my clothes getting soaked!

Hope all's well with you!

THIS is our storm day. Or rather when I went to bed last night solid storms and rains were predicted throughout the daylight hours. Nothing severe, thank goodness.

Checked a few minutes ago to see if the situation had worsened. To my delight we are now expected to get only two hours of non severe storm threat during the morning, and rain otherwise, with a number of gaps.

Was surprised to see my thermostat read 74F when I woke. The house had been cooling down into the mid-upper 60s overnight for some days now.

Well the storm passed last night which had tornadoes in it but none came near my house...though there was a thunder clap last night that sounded like a bomb went off and even shook the house. YEAH that sucker was loud.

Hmm...my online weather site of choice shows us as being under a flood watch from later this morning through Saturday morning. First of those I've seen in quite a while. We had a relatively dry mid/late spring, summer and fall. No T-storm threat today and tomorrow, just steady rain and potentially lots of it.

We just entered a five or so hour window for severe storms, their danger stated to be damaging winds and large hale. After that we've "normal" thunderstorms until after my bedtime. Flash floor warning too. Funny, or not, I was finishing up a Mashinky video until not too long ago. Several minutes after beginning to render the video I looked out the window to see heavy rain. With my hearing I never heard a drop. I hope my last few vocal retakes aren't ruined by background noise! As if I'll be able to tell. tongue.gif

circa 1550 ADDENDUM:
Tornado watch...until 9pm this evening. Doh! Tornado warnings to the south, moving our way. No reports of tornadoes on the ground yet, so far as I know. Just a lot of radar picked up rotation. Still damaging wind and hale threat, though our local weather lady says hale threat is slim. Oh yeah, and potential flooding.

circa 2040 ADDENDUM:
Looks like we're in the clear except for a floor watch. Lost electricity earlier. Was off only 5sec or so. Had the town sirens blaring for quite some time. The local over-the-air TV station was doing solid weather coverage...until it went dead. It's still not back up. Which reminds me I need to go turn it off....never mind, I already turned it off. Don't remember that, but whatever.

Whew... or rather potentially whew. Looks as if we're on the very western edge of today's predicted nasty storms throughout much of the mid-south. For us it looks as if there's a threat of heavy storms for the next hour or two, but no "severe" watches or warnings of any kind...knock on wood. The worst stuff is gonna be some way east in TN and to the its south. Man do I hate tornado season.

Oh. Yikes. You live in the tornado belt eh? indifferent.gif

Yes, we're supposed to get some snow up in Maryland. I hope we do. I hope we get slammed, so I gets a day off. Our snow season this year has been dismal. I'm thinking about moving up to Canada.

We had a bad season last year. This one has been business as usual thankfully, especially post-Christmas.
