Ehm... I don't recall ever reading this ever happening to Odin. The eye, sure, but not the other stuff.

Well to be fair, Odin hung himself from a tree for 9 days to learn certain knowledge. The spear thing is part of the mythology too but Khajiit can't remember the specifics of why it happened. Lot of parallels with JC in that one.

Ok after some quick looks on the interwebz:
The tree he hung himself from was Yggdrasil, because he wanted to learn runes that at the time only the Norns knew. These runes originated in the well the tree grew from. Apparently he also pierced himself with his spear during all of this.

Gee. I'm thirsty for knowledge too but I'm not sure I would go to such extremes in order to obtain it

Odin either stabbed himself or ordered a servant to stab him with a spear, I'm not sure if it's made clear off the top of my head. Part of a ritual sacrifice to Odin, similar to that described in one of the sagas, where a mock sacrifice to Odin is attempted. And beyond the wounding with a spear there aren't really that many parallels.

Heh, perhaps Khajiit exaggerated when he said "lot". No doubt the early Christians, when trying to convert the Northern pagans, spun the similarities and made them more significant in an attempt to make their foreign religion more relatable.

No doubt. The early Christians appropriated quite a lot. It's amazing to think how flexible it was back then, compared to how rigid some people are today.

Edit: On another note, kinda bugged that I might have to stop playing Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Or at least, play only in short bursts. It sees to be playing up my right eye for some reason. *shrugs*
