QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Aug 24 2017, 01:48 AM) Khajiit thinks it went wrong when EA bought Bioware. Pretty sure ME1 was done before the purchase and with ME2, EA wanted it to be more of an action game like Gears of War. Even if that comment is totally wrong, it would explain the difference in styles from ME1 and 2/3.
Iirc, most of the official forums agreed with you EA bought Bioware after Mass Effect, and too late into the development of DA:O to do anything more than get their name on the box. Making the sequels to those games so different can't have been Bioware's decision, but running developers into the ground is EA's modus operandi. QUOTE(Dark Reaper @ Aug 24 2017, 04:59 AM) Well my Dad bought me a New 2DSXL and it was a defective console. Wouldn't connect to the internet or Nintendo's Eshop, so I'll be taking it back tomorrow and get a New 3DSXL...and if that don't work I'm shooting my router.
I actually wish the New 2DSXL had been released when I bought my New 3DS. I never use the 3d on it, would've saved myself some money. Good luck, hope your router gets to live

After nearly a year since I last played the alpha release (Sandbox mode only), I picked up The Long Dark again. Story mode was released at the beginning of the month. All summer I had been toying with resuming play on it, but it would have to be with new characters because the game had changed so much during the interval that it would be like a whole new game for me. I'm glad I came to terms with losing my beloved survivalists, because starting the Story Mode was awesome. It's slow paced, with a focus on exploration and crafting (building a campfire, etc). It starts with the main character (MacKenzie) regaining consciousness following a plane crash on a mountainside. First thing first, GET WARM!! It sure as hell is freezing out there. Incredibly atmospheric, and one of the few games I actually play with music on, mainly because the music is so understated that it does not block my perception of the environment. That is especially important as being able to hear a murder of crows or the distant howling of a wolf off in the distance can mean the difference between survival and GAME OVER. I am in love with this game all over again. . .

QUOTE(Cain @ Aug 24 2017, 06:34 AM) WOOOOOOO!!!! Too bad they didn't show any details about what time period they are using. Really hoping it's not WW2 but the theme of the game doesn't seem to lend itself to anything post-1800's. Space colonies maybe? QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Sep 7 2017, 09:37 AM) Dusted off Dragon Age: Origins and started it up. Created an Elven mage, just completed the first part of his Origin(which is one of the things I love most about this game, the opportunity to define your character before the plot hits them), and it's a nice little setup. Already know what specialistions he'll pick: Arcane Warrior and Blood Mage, because an armoured magic user never gets old, and the Arcane Warriors have a cool backstory to them.
Yeah Arcane Warrior was way cool!

My gaming, for the past several months, has been focused solely on putzing around with my Experimental Oblivion Build, documented more fully in our Oblivion Screenshots thread. As mentioned elsewhere, at some point I need to drop excrement or get off the pot, either begin a true play-through based on one of several Experimental Build avatars, or port my long running second play-through from what is now my secondary PC, updating it with as many new Experimental Build mods as is possible (some aren't transferable) and carrying on from where my decrepit avatar and gang left off.
I'm being forced to migrate from AT&T DSL to their fiber internet service. The new service is supposed to be somewhat faster than what I have now. I won't believe it until I experience it. My monthly data cap is most definitely increasing...a lot. I can't see myself ever going over the new cap. Then again I never went over my current cap. The point is, if my speed DOES increase I might fire up Steam and update my ARK install, which is woefully out of date. Might also install Skyrim, though the new paid mods scam makes that game less than appealing at the moment. I prefer modded Oblivion and Daggerfall in any case.
I've no new game purchases on the radar other than "possibly" Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It's not my ideal type of game, but there is much to like, and what it does well it does very well indeed. My big fear is that some of the neat stuff I've seen online might be weakened as the game is made more console friendly. Certainly the one PS4 Kingdom video I watched had graphics that didn't match the quality of those seen in many PC Kingdom videos. Time will tell, I reckon.

"The paid mods scam" is, for the moment, entirely optional (not to mention not online for Skyrim yet). You can still get free mods via Nexus, so this one wouldn't let the "Creation Club" nonsense put him off of Skyrim if he wanted to get it. Khajiit would recommend getting the Legendary Edition and not the Special Edition as there is currently no Script Extender for the Special Edition. Yeah Arcane Warrior was way cool! One of the most fun warrior/mage setups I've played in any game. I love the way that the sustained spells give you a choice between going magic or melee on the fly. Or going for a hybrid approach

I own Skyrim as both the original release version (no DLC) and also as part of the Elder Scrolls Anthology (DLC), so will be safe in that regard.

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Sep 7 2017, 04:30 PM) Has anyone ever played Tyranny? Gog has it on sale for half off, and I am thinking of buying it. It looks very similar to Pillars of Eternity, Baldur's Gate, and that style of isometric RPGs.
Yeah Khajiit has heard it was similar to those games. Haven't checked it out though. Not really a fan of the isometric style games unless it's a strategy game.
