I do like the separate spell hotkey in Oblivion. Makes playing a Nightblade much easier.

Doh! What a doofus I am at times. (At times?) I read the above and racked my brain a good five seconds trying to phathom why I couldn't recall Oblivion having a spellcheck hotkey or why it needs one. Reality then set in. Senility ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Surprising how much you can miss such a small convenience. Between a button for magic and more hotkeys, Oblivion definitely felt more fluid when changing things up mid-combat.

Too much of a magic junkie to play a pure sneak archer, and switching back and forth between magic and bow just bugs me. And the few attempts at archery I've made in Skyrim failed miserably.

Huh, irritating. Breton was always my go-to for Battlemage or Spellsword characters that were more mage/scholar than warrior. Can't make that look in Skyrim though. It just doesn't seem to work, for Breton's at least.

Either Endar Verano, a stealthy Dunmer mage-archer, or resurrect/tranpslant my Altmer Sorcerer, Macros.

Yeah. Spent 45 minutes earlier trying to get my guy to look right, kept coming out looking like someone from an action film . One attempt even had some resemblance to Gerard Butler in 300

Khajiit would suggest starting with the older dark haired, bearded Druid/Necromancer looking dude and then clean him up a bit. Make the beard neater, give him a cleaner haircut, take away all the dirt and eye black, set his weight to perhaps a notch or two above the skinniest setting, and make his facial features less pronounced. For clothing, Skyrim has some robes that look like they are more geared for adventurers and if you wear heavy armor boots and gauntlets it'll give you a nice battlemage look (a battlemage/paladin group called the Vigilants of Stendar wear this setup).

In Oblivion I have a Female Dunmer Crusader my favorite class from TES:O. Also in Skyrim I have a female Imperial ---uh whatever but she seems to favor a mix of heavy and light armor.

Whenever Khajiit thinks about mixing heavy and light armors, usually the explorers/Conquistadors of the late 1400's-1500's come to mind; with shining corslets and morion helmets, and thick leather boots and gloves.
