Flicking through the Skyrim section here's kind of depressing. Way too late to the party.

I, too, was late to the Skyrim party. In fact, I was late to the entire TES party, as Skyrim was my introduction into it back in late 2013. I remember it coming out my senior year of high school because a bunch of people I knew (and didn't know) were talking about the game, but I didn't get to play it until way later.

I think he just means getting a feel for who and what the character is. I always loved playing the tutorial dungeon in Oblivion because it gave me some time with a new character to experiment and get a feel for them before taking them out in the world.

Honestly I don't blame people or fans making an unofficial sequel to one of the most famous franchises. I mean if Valve isn't going to make it then for the love of the divines outsource the IP to another company and let them take over. Honestly I wouldn't use Steam if I could and cease supporting Valve and let them burn but they're the only company that hold a monopoly on PC gaming as a third party DRM and this is why I don't like PC gaming.
