QUOTE(mirocu @ Oct 3 2017, 10:56 AM) QUOTE(mALX @ Oct 1 2017, 09:18 PM) QUOTE(mirocu @ Oct 1 2017, 10:14 AM) UPDATE: We have now secured the walls properly to each other so all those temporary support beams are now gone. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera today so no pixies. I can prolly post them on Wednesday.
*mALX taps foot, looks at watch and then glances at calendar...* Squirrels and gentlemembers, you can stop your fot-tapping now This is as far as we got this weekend. Come next weekend, plus the following three days I take off for hunting, I reckon we will have roof on! I know it looks a bit shabby but it will do its job nicely Oh, that wood is in amazing shape! There is a LOT of wood salvaging done in my area; they have barns that are over a hundred years old that people salvage the wood from and make wood flooring with that is spectacular! Tell Father Mirocu that I said "Good find on that wood for his shed!"

QUOTE(Acadian @ Oct 3 2017, 05:01 PM) Mirocu, nice progress and glad you're not rushing it. Thanks for the pic. Looks like its going to be a useful, sturdy garage! Hopefully, anyway QUOTE(mALX @ Oct 3 2017, 07:37 PM) Oh, that wood is in amazing shape! Yeah, it's good he wanted to salvage it. It's the second garage for him actually

QUOTE(mirocu @ Oct 7 2017, 10:54 AM) Wish I could follow it in the mornings like I did with the RE LP. We'll see what happens from my end.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Oct 8 2017, 08:39 AM) Roof finished. We even filled in old holes, again; just before it started to rain. Now we can focus on boarding it up. I don't think we have enough material ourselves for that but we can take some from my dad's cousin. Especially if we don't say anything Nice work! Me, I've no aptitude for this sort of thing whatsoever. My next door neighbor does, which comes in handy at times. (He doesn't provide his services for free, sad to say.) As for myself, I'm put most everything involving the least amount of physical labor on hold until my "Tennis Elbow" goes away, assuming it does. As a followup to earlier posts, I'll mention that our recent excursion to TN for my uncle's burial went well. In fact, discounting the reason we went, I found the trip surprisingly pleasurable. Saw and talked with many relatives I'd not see in ages and ages. I tried to remain on my best behavior, so reckon I put my foot in my mouth only six or so times at most, give or take.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Oct 11 2017, 06:37 AM) Removed outer front end today in order to chainsaw the long bottom piece a bit. Right front end leaned outwards quite a bit so adjustment was necessary. It actually is perfectly straight now as we checked with a level. Not too shabby considering I used a friggin chainsaw and didn't measure anything You said the back leaned in, and the front leaned out. This is making me wonder if the wall wasn't originally intentionally slightly racked so that with the front/back ends vertical, there would be a slight slope on the top (roof). With the diagonal braces, it shouldn't have shifted. You might get enough slope for water not to pool (snow would still collect). That would have made the bottom need to be sloped, too, of course, and you'd have levelled that before moving it in.
