I haven't yet taken the time to view the Discord web site, but intend to do so shortly. I never meant to make it harder for anyone else to play or socialize in game - I've always been the odd one out at social gatherings where conversations are verbal. It's why I love coming here - and to ESO - because of the text chat which means I DON'T MISS A DAMN THING. It's nice to be able to not only fully participate, but also enjoy the others' comments and listen in. However, I feel very strongly about not inconveniencing others - if you don't want or feel unable to accommodate my needs, I will NOT expect it of you. Work is one thing, socializing is something else totally. It is too easy for people to forget about the one who does not have a voice in the conversation. That is why I don't go to parties IRL - however I do enjoy a quiet evening with a good friend, good food, good booze and good conversation. mALX, I'm well aware of your difficulties with the text chat, that has come across to me multiple times whenever we're together - either as a pair or in a group. You remind me of myself in IRL group discussions. I'm slow to understand what is said, sometimes I don't understand it at all. And I'm not talking about concepts, I'm talking about the words that were spoken. I happen to be very skeptical about software that claims to remove that barrier for Deaf people. Speech recognition software is still a very long way from where it needs to be. It's fine currently for slow paced conversations between two people, but when you try it out in a group, it just can't do it. So I'm not holding out much hope for speech to text chat. However, I saw that it has text to speech conversion, which generally works better IRL. For that reason alone, I would be willing to download and set up Discord, then limit my chat to the Discord box whenever I want to chat with mALX and anyone else who would benefit. It sounds like it is a much simpler, more workable solution for all. On a different topic, I want to announce something for our ESO guild, and for our sister guild, Tamriel Explorers Guild, of which Gosse is a member of. Bear and Gray, my ESO friends, who have also played with several of you, are also included in this message. Yes, I'm one of those idiots who spent IRL cash for a crown only home. But this place hits all the marks for my toons. As I was telling Khajiit last night, Julian wants water, Maz wants outdoor space, Alise wants a view, Argis wants a home, and Phae wants nature - the less civilized the better. Pariah's Pinnacle scores high on all these features. Yes, it is possible to make it homey! When Maz and I first previewed this home about a month ago, Maz said something that stuck with me. "It's a perfect place for a Saturalia party." So we want to invite all of the Chorrolites to come to Pariah's Pinnacle. It would be an afternoon-evening CST thing, which would make it manageable for our friends across the pond as well as those who live in the Rockies to come and visit. I know it would be impossible to get everyone together at the same time, but I want everyone to have the opportunity to come and visit with each other. So we are thinking the week before Christmas. I happen to be off from work on that Sunday the 17th, Tuesday the 19th, and Thursday the 21st. I would like to know which of these days work best for all of you. Please let me know so I can send out formal invitations to all of you! FYI, my time zone is six hours behind GMT (or Zulu time, for you military folks). I wanted to thank you for helping me learn how to use the Discord better today; you fixed whatever I broke on it so it would talk again! Thank you so much for getting it so we can talk; that meant the world to me! I most def want to keep working at a solution to ensure you are able to be in on any conversations; and absolutely will keep searching for some way we can do this. ** Ooh, Awesome shot of your horse rearing up in the snow!!! QUOTE(Acadian @ Dec 8 2017, 10:38 AM) WooHoo! Having had two advance tours, courtesy of Maz and Alise, Buffy will be there with bells on (and the frost-enchanted toe ring gifted to her by Jerric)!
A flexible hours open house as you propose sounds wonderful. Any of the three days will work for Buffy. That said, our gentle preference would be for Sunday 17 Dec.
Edit: Oh, a couple things:
Given the mixture of guilds, perhaps the 'say' feature might be the most effective way for all to communicate during this event. If the range of 'say' turns out to be too short, then the 'yell' feature might work as it is similar but with somewhat larger range.
Just noticed the fabulous screenshot in your signature of Maz rearing her horse against a wintery backdrop - great shot, and how wonderfully seasonal!
Bold: I disagree with the /say or /yell. If we have so many in a group already; it will be that much more confusing if a bunch of outsiders can be talking into our party chat. Might be better to group and all use group chat, imho. That way it will be just us able to see and contribute to what we are saying; not everyone in the zone. ** I was laughing at the screen of Buffy trying to wait in line in her screen of the month = she is not going to be seen behind those buffed beefs in front of her, This post has been edited by mALX: Dec 9 2017, 01:40 AM

QUOTE(Acadian @ Dec 8 2017, 09:38 PM) 'Say' has very limited range and might not even cover the whole of that large house. 'Yell' has a slightly larger range which makes it perhaps a better choice. Neither has the range to reach beyond the confines of the house so no one beyond the house would receive or transmit into our party. That said, grouping would work well also as long as whoever has the crown keeps adding folks as they show up. And the interface for a large group will eat up a large chunk of our visible screen as well. Just thoughts. I'm fine with anything as long as all can talk. Are you sure no zone chat can reach there? I thought there was some when I was visiting. Anyway, I don't care how it is done; it will be a lot of fun !!!! * Here is your updated list: QUOTE

Oooh! Hundings Rage! Wonderful set! Oh, mALX, thanks for your nice comments about Buffy's screen of the month. /zone covers the entire province/zone you are in - not got for our private party. /yell covers only a small radius - perhaps most of a town or most of a dungeon so is a possibility. /say also covers even a smaller radius but a smaller radius than yell. Probably reaches out to about the distance the game renders other players for you to see though you don't need line of sight. I suspect it might cover the whole party area though and may be a good choice.

QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Dec 9 2017, 06:09 PM) Yay, Khajiit was wondering when you would get to this one! Also looking forward to the Seducer set (hint hint)!
I take all hints!!! You know, I was torn on where to place the Seducer set. We all know it is the "Armor of the Seducer;" but when you pick up the Attuned table it just says "Seducer" = as in: Seducer (Armor of the). So in the Guild Hall I was going to put it under the "S" rather than the "A" (to avoid the confusion of seeing the "S" name with the "A's"). Really not sure which way to go here; what would you all rather I do with that set as far as placement in the alphabetical order goes?

So THAT’S what you were doing over there!
Umm, everyone, Discord does not REQUIRE you to have mic/headset to use it - it can be limited to text only. What I like about it is that I can hear an alert sound anytime someone (just mALX for now) uses it. It’s really good for me to talk to mALX - she can hear what I say and type back when she has a chance. I actually have the voice channel turned off so I can enjoy the game sound, but it works very well for me as an alternative to the in game chat box.
So maybe everyone could download the Discord app, set up the overlay to work with their game, and we can use it at the Solstice party?
Not trying to force you into anything, but thinking of what Acadian said about chat - I was thinking group chat, but then everyone has those bars above their heads, and that can ruin screenies . . .
Guild chat only works if all of Gosse’s guild are also members of ours, or if all of us are in hers. To the best of my knowledge, such is not the case.

Speaking of which: My son had to have surgery when he turned 15 years old that gave him hearing for the first time in his life = before that the audiologist said that everything he heard was like swimming at the bottom of a deep swimming pool and having someone on the surface talking in a normal tone of voice. What I had for my son was a chair I got from Best Buy that is made for hearing impaired to game; listen to music; or watch TV (etc). It hooks up to your electronics and has amplified speakers built into the cushions of the head rest. The chair has both a vibrate and light feature you can use (they can be shut off too) that responds to any sounds on the electronics they are hooked to at the time (which actually makes gaming pretty awesome). The lights are on the lower part of the seat front and side so they don't interfere with what you are seeing on screen; but can be noticed in the peripheral or used as a mini light show in time to music; etc. You can leave them hooked into the electronics when doing something else in the room so the light's flashing lets you know when someone gets on Discord; when you get an email; etc. That flashing light let my son know when a friend was texting him in game because he couldn't hear the computer "bing" sound when they entered the channel; etc. It let him know when things were happening in game or on TV that were above or below his hearing range (he couldn't hear certain tones regardless their volume; etc). I know they also make those chairs for adults; they are really great for gaming whether you are hearing impaired or not; but they are a real boon for anyone with hearing difficulties (and really reasonably priced, too). QUOTE(haute ecole rider @ Dec 11 2017, 04:59 PM) Posted a quick question on the ZOS forums, and learned that using Zone chat will do the same thing also - it will cover the whole house but not beyond.
So either using Discord (which not all may be able to use for various reasons) or Zone chat would work.
But for mALX’s sake, I would prefer if we all used Discord so she can hear all our comments. . . .ed
Or if anyone can't - anyone that can cover for them by saying it would be great. On Discord - I have an online friend from SneakyBo teaching me how to use the Discord; it is sure more complicated than the Teamspeak (but is so much more functional). So it is a bit over my head; but I have a good teacher helping me. (many of you may remember him as the naked vampire that danced on our Guild Hall dining table, ) I still haven't been able to get the overlay to work in my game; but I believe that may have something to do with Steam - I thought I bought my game bypassing Steam, but maybe not.
