Downtown Boston is just flat out amazing in F4. The load times are insane. But it looks fantastic, and there are so many more places you can go than in the previous games, namely up, up, and up. You can get up on the roofs of many of those buildings, and there is loot and baddies up there.

Nice. I really like the sound of that! Because in a way, if we can go up into all those buildings, it's like the game's size increases. We can measure the game's size in square miles, but this won't include all the downtown real estate we can explore, which goes UP as well as north, west, east, & south.

Does anybody have Boston accents in this game? That's one thing that's missing in Fallout 3, nobody has Maryland accents. Moira Brown sounds like she's from the Midwest. She's the most outstanding voice I can think of in that game. But nobody has a Maryland accent. Here are some quick examples. I think because Maryland accents are not as famous as New York or Boston or Midwestern, or maybe they are hard to understand, nobody really notices but us Marylanders. But then that's the thing. Fallout 3 was made in Maryland!!!!

Well heck, maybe our peculiar way of speaking did not survive the war! Only a small portion of us have accetns that extreme. But I'd expect Fallout 4 though, you'd have to get some Bostonese in there to make the game feel more authentic, right?

Anyway.... a witchcraft museum, eh? ph34r.gif Yeah I can totally see that, this game being set in New England.

I really like Pic #3 ... gloomy!!!! ..... and same thing with the final picture. Dark silhouette! ... Looks like Hecate did some sort of quest to return a deathclaw egg, eh?

Going back a couple sessions, I think Burning Steel is my fave! Bzzt!!!!!

Ya know, I can't really remember a Maryland accent from my time there. My Pittsburgh accent slipping through at times was more prominent than anything I recall hearing in MD.

You won't hear extreme Maryland accents (Bal'mer instead of Baltimore, for instance) until you frequent the working class, and then it's hit-or-miss whether you'll hear one. It's not like New York or Boston, where their accent spans broadly across all classes: policemen, lawyers, judges, even politicians will have them! But my premise is: If you don't include Boston accents in a game that's supposed to be in Boston, people will definitely notice!

I have no idea what a Pittsburgh accent sounds like. Ah okay. It's sort of like a mix between Jersey (Joisey) and Maryland. Interesting!

I do remember people saying "warsh" instead of wash and "ool" instead of oil.

Pittsburgh accent is so bad. I've almost got it filtered out completely, but sometimes I can't help it.

Man Khajiit hopes they do a Fallout set in and around NOLA one day!

Renee: Fallout 4 does have authentic Boston accents. I listen to a radio show that airs in both Detroit and Boston, and the Boston callers sound exactly like many people in Fallout 4. Sometimes when they say where they are from, like Quincy, I find myself thinking: "He must have escaped the Quincy Massacre with Preston."

There is a RL Witchcraft Museum in Salem, though it is more about the Witch Trials than it is about actual Witchcraft. The one in the game is just a copy of that.

TheCheshireKhajiit: The Abernathys immediately jump to mind when it is time to Paak the caar in the yaaad. smile.gif

Acadian: I smiled when I saw the museum. Hecate is the Queen of Witches after all.

There is a quest about a stolen Deathclaw egg that starts in the Museum of Witchcraft. Some mercenaries stole the egg, only to find themselves pursued by a Deathclaw. By the time you come along it is munching on the last of the mercs. It is really creepy the first time you do it. You have to fight the Deathclaw. But once you get the egg you can choose to return it to its mother, or complete the merc's contract and take it to their employer. I have always returned it to MamaClaw.

Love the one co-staring Luna! Also, I’m not really sure what’s going on in “The Bear Chair”, but it is delightfully creepy!

Aww, how neat.

Ha! I can just imagine what must have happened over that checkers game.

Luv the Moon pic too, like you knew I would. wink.gif

Power armor cracks me up in FO4. I recently did some reading about power armor, as I was trying to learn which armor would be the best for Cho's followers. So it's interesting because the armor in FO4 is so big that an ordinary person wouldn't be able to stand up in a PA suit. I had no idea they're actually powered by something. They're supposed to be nuclear-powered, right?

Power Armor in the lore is supposed to be like a one manned vehicle that the US developed to break through Chinese forces. In Fallout4, Power Armor is much more than something you wear, and being more like a vehicle, it needs fuel/energy to function and this is supplied by little batteries called “Fusion Cores”.

TheCheshireKhajiit: I use an HD retexture of the moon, and a size increaser. So she really pops in the night sky.

The bear chair is technically a gorilla chair. But there is a big stuffed bear right behind it. There is also a feral ghoul chair, that is literally made from a ghoul.

Acadian: Deathclaws are definitely the top of the food chain in Fallout. I try to avoid them just because they are also my favorite critter. So I would rather not have to kill them. Sometimes Hecate will come across a Deathclaw in the distance fighting other creatures, like giant radscorpions. She will use her sniper rifle to pick off the scorpions at long range. Then use a stealth boy to disappear before the Deathclaw can notice her.

ghastley: She Hulk Smash!

Renee: Power Armor in the Fallout world is basically a high-tech replacement for tanks. Which is what it will end up being in the real world too. It was really underwhelming in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It is just another kind of armor in those games. But F4 really gets the idea of it being a vehicle, as Khajiit said, rather than simply clothing with some steel plates and circuitry. It uses fusion cores, which are nuclear batteries.

Most of the time I don't use PA with my characters. But I will break it out for especially difficult quests. Hecate wore her T-60 Tesla suit to Nuka World because the very beginning has some insane battles with Raiders. There are three gangs you have to wipe out. Each of them has a lair in an interior cell, that is packed with a few dozen Raiders each. So it winds up being a very close up fight with little or no cover against a horde of baddies. Even with the power armor it is extremely difficult. Hecate used something like 20 grenades in one of those battles.

Fallout 3 is pretty limited in power armor choices. The Brotherhood uses T-45s, so those are the most numerous. I think there are only two suits of T-51s in the game. One is the Shoot 'Em In the Head quest that a ghoul in Underworld gives you. It is locked up in an old military base in the north west of the map. The other is from Operation Anchorage. So T-45 is the easiest to get. Just follow an Outcast patrol around, and after a while you will be sure to pick up some suits that are no longer being used...

Yes, that's what I gathered in my reading. Earlier examples of power armor are supposed to be not as developed. Or they were experiments that did not work. Whereas in Fallout 4, they seem to have examples which are more developed.

I gave Cho's followers some power armor, but I'm not sure if they're T-45 suits or not. smile.gif I'll check next time I'm gaming with Cho. Whenever it stops raining in Maryland, that is....

Yikes, those Nuka creatures look horrid. indifferent.gif

Lotsa Lopov shots in this batch! biggrin.gif I wonder where that guy is.... seems like he fell off the side of the Slovenian earth....

What kind of armor is that in the final pic?

Acadian: It's not a river of chocolate, but Hecate makes the best of what the wasteland has to offer.

They also have Sugar Bombs cereal power armor, Abraxo Cleaner armor, and Vim cola armor. Everyone wants their own armor!

ghastley: That's definitely Hecate. Though of course she got back in black as soon as she could.

Renee: The Nukalurks are in FO3 as well. Go to the Nuka Cola Bottle Plant on the western side of the DC ruins.

Lopov must be making lots of Lopov shots with his new job. He said it involved a lot of traveling. I think he might have joined the Avengers... wink.gif

That is T-51 Power Armor in the last pic. That suit has a Nuka Cola paint job. There are a lot of specialty paint jobs like that for the T-51s in Fallout 4.

C'mon join the joyride = not sure of artist. Foghat maybe? And then that would be Free Ride, I think, if the artist is right. If it's not Foghat, maybe it's Bay City Rollers? Don't know song name, if so. .... EDIT NO no no... answer is Rick Derringer / Free Ride, final answer! biggrin.gif

You gotta know when to hold 'em = Kenny Rogers. Don't know song title name without cheating. Lopov would. He's into old American country, oddly. ......EDIT: ooh!! I think this song is called The Gambler!

Take your protein pills = David Bowie. biggrin.gif Um ... Is the song Ziggy Stardust ... NO ... Space Oddity?

Starman waiting in the sky ... no idea.

And I think it's gonna be a long time = Elton John / Rocket Man. (love this song ever since I was a kid!)

Sweet Dreams = no idea.

Tall Cool One = Robert Plant. wink.gif That one's a real toughie. smile.gif At first I'm thinking Zeppelin, but then I remember Plant had his own solo career after LZ disbanded.

Take me Away = no idea, but what a psychadelic pic! In general all these are psychadelic, man! wacko.gif
