QUOTE(Decrepit @ Jul 31 2018, 04:56 PM) Did it again. Opened the micro this morning while preparing breakfast to find the batch of hard boiled eggs cooked early yesterday evening while eating supper. Other times I've done this the eggs have been OK if not quite as good as usual. We shall see how this batch turns out in a bit.
Otherwise, I've nothing to report foods wise. Was worried this week's grocery bill might be abnormally high, as a number of long lasting items needed replenishing at the same time. Turns out I spent only around $36.60, not bad at all. It helped that for some reason I needed only one can of soup. I can account for needing one fewer soup than usual, but not two or three. One less can of tuna too, accounted for. Even splurged a bit and spent $2.27 on fresh strawberries.
Off topic, but I just saw your Signature story of your second playthrough; that was a spectacular diary entry, it felt like listening to you talking about it! LOVED it!

After seeing your comment I revisited that thread. Been a LONG time since I last did so. I still retained a bit of ability to effective pen interesting lengthy narrative, it seems. That ability was already in decline when the thread was posted, but enough remained to get the job done. Of more interest to me is that I had not not yet finalized the relationship between me and my decrepit avatar. Notice that I speak in first-person throughout. I did not yet see my avatar as a fully separate entity and myself as merely the relater of his adventures. It begs the question, when did that transformation occur? I honestly don't know. Apparently more recently than I assumed. Certainly before I published those four YouTube videos early 2014. How long before then is the question. To keep this post legit, I discovered one reasont this week's grocery bill is less than expected. Preparing yesterday evening's salad-supper, was surprised to find no mushrooms in the refrigerator. Scatterbrained as I've become, I assumed them misplaced. Searched the house several times. No luck. Was about to search the car in case they'd fallen out of a bag when it dawned on me to check my grocery receipt. Sure enough mushrooms don't appear on it. First time I ever forgot to buy them, or so memory tells me. What next? Maybe I'll forget to wear pants next time. This post has been edited by Decrepit: Aug 1 2018, 11:03 PM

Do they still make Mr. Pibb? I haven't seen it in the stores in forever!

This brought back memories of my long ago childhood when the vast majority of sodas were still sold in bottles and soda bottle-cap collecting was a thing a great many of us kids did. They could be found laying around most everywhere in great variety in those pre merger days. Alas, the years have taken their toll. I no longer recall most of those old soda names. RC Cola was one I think. Lotta Cola. Is Nehi still around? Tons more. We still have Nehi in Orange and Grape flavored. We also still have a Root Beer Drive-in stand here in Madisonville TN where the girls come out to your car with your food order and the Root Beer is served in frosted mugs. They have Root Beer floats, etc. I can't remember if it is Hires or A & W; but if you go once, you will go back every time you are in the area, they had the best Root Beer I ever tasted there! Every time we stopped in, they were busy; and not always with local license plates. I don't know if you can still buy them in the stores anymore, haven't seen them in the stores in a LONG time = but the drive-in stand still sold it. QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Aug 2 2018, 09:13 AM) Khajiit hates soda in the plastic bottles. When he drinks soda, this one usually does an aluminum can unless he can find a glass bottle handy. Khajiit got a thing of 24 of those Coca Colas hecho en Mexico, all in glass bottles. They use real sugar in those instead of HFCS. Taste awesome.
Yeah, during the time I refer to in my previous post all soda bottles were glass. Double Cola was another brand back then, I think. Oops...almost forgot to mention this will be a V8 for lunch day. Heating it and adding a few spices make it tolerable. This post has been edited by Decrepit: Aug 2 2018, 03:27 PM

QUOTE(Decrepit @ Aug 7 2018, 05:57 AM) QUOTE(mALX @ Aug 7 2018, 04:27 AM) The extra amount is probably from all that great fruit. Around here Strawberries run at least 4 US Dollars for a pint. But boy is it worth it! I have been getting peaches, plums, and navel oranges lately.
I bought the $2.67 strawberry tub. Enough berries for two per day for a week's worth of breakfasts plus one snack-size serving. Fujis were on "sale" for $1 per pound, which made it very tempting to buy two per day rather than one, as I used to do before that became too costly. I resisted. Don't want to form bad spending habits. That sale won't last forever. You got me hooked on those Fujis! I had never had one before. Hearing you talk about them caused me to try them = Mmmmmm!
