QUOTE(stargelman @ Aug 21 2018, 11:45 AM) Came today on a pallet. The entire delivery was 555 kilograms. And I had to carry all of it upstairs. And then assemble it. But it's done, and now I can sport.
I just hope the floor is strong enough to support it. I'd want to keep that in a basement, so it can't drop through anything. I do note you stacked the weights next to the wall. Good plan!

QUOTE(haute ecole rider @ Aug 24 2018, 09:35 AM) That is really cool! Of course, I recognized the Ondol system, which is still in use in Korea today - even in modern construction. For folks who sleep on the floor, this is the best way to stay warm.
Loved watching the kiln being built. As a young teen, I took ceramics classes and so learned how pottery is made. It remains a huge interest of mine.
I am impressed that he tiled the roof and made the walls of adobe. It's a great balance of resources, not going for all wood but instead using wood sparingly to create the frame, then filling in with much more plentiful mud (raw and fired tiles).
I can see this hut being used as a way station/overnight camp for travelers on hikes.
That place was genius; especially the way he heated it! (all except no windows, lol). He even put a ridge cap on the roof!!! I found the vid by accident; but couldn't stop watching! The next vid he has linked to that one is how to make pots and pans; and he makes them using that homemade kiln too! He has a few other vids with "primitive" ways to do things, I am def going to watch them too. Not that I'd ever do them, but ... it is just fascinating to see! @ Mirocu - So that's a no, huh?

At the end of today's walk, I glanced at my walkway and noticed much of it was 8-10" wide. Suspected it had once been wider. Decided to investigate. Located on my old rusty dull-end shovel. Made a few exploratory digs. Sure enough, over time the walkway has gradually been buried in dirt and weed-grass. Made a project of digging out one side until all more most concrete was again exposed. Considering how dull the shovel is it took quite some time. I gave out before reaching my parking slab, but most walkway is now considerably wider. Used removed dirt-weed clods to fill in low spots. Mowed yesterday evening. Nice and cool for this time of year. No issues other than the mower conking out with part of one side and the front yard yet to mow. Worried I'd run out of gas, with no gas left in the can. Nope. Grass ejection hole was clogged. Unclogged it, took a 15min break and finished the job. QUOTE(mALX @ Aug 23 2018, 06:52 PM) I'd seen this before but enjoyed watching it again.

Isn't it amazing that the ground could so thoroughly cover the walkway/driveway like that! What a job that is, I hope you are being cautious of your heart in working on it! On that "Primitive" vid - that guy is unbelievable! (and tenacious), This post has been edited by mALX: Aug 24 2018, 08:11 PM

QUOTE(mirocu @ Aug 25 2018, 10:25 AM) Today was spent solely maintaining Cavator. I started blowing the dust off it, including the engine bay and radiators. Then I washed it, lubed everything and wiped the excess grease off. Then I thought I'd take a look at the teeth on the bucket. One has been loose for quite a while now. I got the middle one off but the other two required the grinder with which I simply cut the lug nuts so the bolts fell down. Now I just hope my Cavator mechanic (not the same as my car mechanic) can hook me up with new teeth and bolts. If not, Cavator's eating capabilities will be slightly impaired for the time being.... You...you pulled your little yellow 'Cavator's teeth without getting the new ones first? GAAAAAH! This post has been edited by mALX: Aug 25 2018, 04:50 PM

QUOTE(mirocu @ Sep 2 2018, 09:32 AM) QUOTE(mALX @ Sep 1 2018, 05:36 PM) And no way to see a pic of the bicycle wheel rim on the gate? I shallst try visiting imgur again later but I would suggest not holding any breath. I hate these constant "upgrades" that websites do Agreed. I lost a decade worth of screenshots when Photobucket blocked everyone from using their site without paying them 400 dollars suddenly = holding our screenshots hostage/for ransom. Photobucket considers them theirs now.
