I tried to play that once, after I bought the battle chest.

Couldn't do it. Went straight back to D2.

Played my demo of Contract JACK just now. It has two stages, one training area in summer in some ruins and one proper mission during winter in a military installation. Played the latter one. And would you believe it; this demo from 1400 B.C has a thousand times better fist attacks and handgun than Doom 3. Not to mention, reload time is superfast for the handgun.

Guess fighting demons is such a walk in the park for Doomguy he doesn't even care to reload fast. Or bring a fast-firing pistol wink.gif

In KCD Henry is about to begin two mandatory combat challenges (assuming the main quest line is followed). First time round he stank at both. Not even close. I suspect he won't do well this time either, especially the first challenge, as he's done absolutely nothing with archery up to this point. He might last longer during the second, sword fight, challenge, but I seriously doubt he'll win. I begin to think part of my problem with melee is that mouse sensitivity is set too loose, so that it takes too much time and effort to move a weapon into positive before unleashing an attack. Course it might also be that, at this early stage, Henry is simply too slow by design to be overly effective.

ADDENDUM: Well, that's a surprise. Henry easily won the archery contest! On the other hand, he did worse at sword fighting than my already ultra low expectations. It was totally one-sided. Henry landed no more than two blows the entire fight, and the second was iffy. It didn't help that this was his first combat using a short-sword and shield rather than a long-sword sans shield. We've never practiced blocking with a shield. It showed.

I've spent the evening playing bits of Spyro Reignited Trilogy, the remasters of some of the old Spyro the Dragon games. It is absolutely fantastic, looks gorgeous, sounds gorgeous, plays really well.

I adored Year of the Dragon back when I was younger, and to see it in all its remastered glory is just wonderful.

That was one of the first games I bought for my son!

If they could port Diablo 1 and 2 for the mobile (instead of that ... thing they desecrated long-time Diablo fans with), I’d be a happy man. Scheeeeeeeeeeise, if Rome Total War could do it, so can they. Probably not in the foreseeable future tho (although I’m maintaining a fool’s hope) since Activision-Blizzard is all about them Dead Benjamins.

Speaking of, I’m playing Rome: Total War again. Actually I never stopped. I just wanted to post this to for giggles tbh, and to encourage you to play such a magnificent game.

Played KCD much of the day yesterday. Had a blast. Henry's finally getting some decent armor (mostly bought, not won in combat). Not high quality gear, but not bad for a this stage of his development. I don't think it spoils things much to say that he earned a decent portion of the funds used to buy said armor via harvested plant sells. And now that he's better able to take down some low grade enemies he can at last earn a bit of money selling their gear.

Though it has mundane tasks too, many of KCD's quests are well thought out and implemented. Some remind me of the better Oblivion quests, including bits (and more than bits) of humor thrown in when appropriate. In fact the more I play KCD the more certain aspects of it remind me of Oblivion. That said, KCD is not TES. If you go in hoping it is there's a good chance you'll be disappointed.

Henry / I still suck at combat. I suspect that will hold through until the hopefully not so bitter end. My hope is that I can develop his skills to a point where brute force of arms partly compensates for lack of expertise. Despite being inept at it, I still love KCD's combat mechanics. Just my bum luck the game released at a stage when neither my mental nor physical reflexes are as responsive as they once were.

As for today, I made a save with Henry paused a short distance from a bandit camp he has been tasked to obliterate. I suspect the enemies there might be more powerful than he can handle. We'll see how it goes.

BS aside, it’s good that at least one of the Chorrolites is looking forward to that game. Not me tho, unfortunately. That looked like one of the countless Asian-style freemium hacknslash apps I’ve encountered in my time.

They royally screwed themselves by treating the announcement like it was their next huge game. Blizzard should have taken a leaf out of Bethesda's book, re Fallout Shelter.

Yup. “We are working hard on the next Diablo, but in the meantime, here is a bonus mobile game to play while you wait!”

That said, BGS could’ve faced this kind of fire with TES: Blades. Good that they had the foresight to announce TES6 and avoid the outrage.

This is probably why I VERY seldom have idols in celebrities or gaming companies. They get so full of themselves that they whine up forgetting it was the fans that put them there to begin with, then have the nerve to act surprised when they get pissy at said fans and they end up going out of business cause all their fanbases have dried up.

Honestly, Khajiit finds the “hero worship” The Todd gets to be a bit much. He’s just a man folks. A man who may even be leading his studio down a bad path. This one has stated before, Starfield’s quality will speak volumes about the direction BGS are going. Khajiit thinks it needs to be really good.

I take Diablo Immortal at face value. NetEase taught them how to monetise mobile so now they're all up in it.

I think it looks nifty, but I probably won't play it much. I tend to not get involved heavily with freemium games that block progress unless you pay, which is basically every mobile game ever.

I hear Fallout76 is getting some trash reviews though. Lol. Sad.

Gamers tend to be stupid and let brand loyalty make their decisions. :v

Unfortunately, Bethesda's taken all the memes and jokes made at their expense and rolled with it as if it were charming at this point instead of actually working on preventing the disastrous bugs they're (in)famous for.

The new studio hopefully means they're actually working on it, but I'm not holding my breath. Especially after all the horrible issues with Fallout 76 lmao including but not limited to the glaring security issues

That said, all this whining about the mobile Diablo game is also stupid. Just....don't buy it. Don't give them your money. Geeze.
