Unna has been resisting a trip to Cyrodill for Vigor/Caltrops, so we tried Battlegrounds as an alternative. It seems to work. She runs around like a headless chicken for five minutes and gets 7k AP for being on the losing team. She doesn't even use up her soul gems to get resurrected, which is good, as she averages about 9 deaths per round. We'll stop at Caltrops; nothing else in that line is needed. Then, it's back to Undaunted dailies, or maybe even pledges with the new tools in the box.
Everyone else is just doing their crafting research, but they all need the same sorts of skill additions that will take some grind and leaving their comfort zones. Minx still has to finish the main quest and reach level 50, but she's almost completed her mount training.

Holy Crap I Did It Ruben's a real boy now. He was my first official Bank Mule, as evidenced by the fact that he has a real name. He was then made into a "backup" crafter that I played on and off again. With Jewelry crafting added, he's now the official Jeweler, and it's ALL he crafts. Prolly won't use him for anything but crafting, but at least he can get his own surveys now.

I have Battleground Burn-out. Unna, Blossom and Taminwe have all picked up their Vigor and Caltrops, and Laurie and Cat Man Dhou have got their Warhorns. Minx did the starter one, but she's gone back to the MQ for now.
The Sorcs look like they can do without any, but I'm sure they have their own grind to do.

Wow, you've really gotten a lot accomplished! So...do you have any tips or advice for a new player going into the Battlegrounds? I've only gone in them once during the Midyear Mayhem a few years ago (to get the achievement). I had to keep going in till I got a team that could win, but they sure didn't have my help doing it, lol. Britta spent all her time dead or resurrecting, lol. And the worst part about that is = she is my toughest character,

And the worst part about that is = she is my toughest character, Just that it's exactly the way to play it. You get the 7k AP for coming last with zero points, so it just doesn't matter what happens. Since it's a timed mini-game, your progress rate is guaranteed. Go whack away and die often, but have fun! My team did get zero points twice in a row! I'm sort of proud of that. I noticed that most of my deaths were to proc sets I couldn't get yet, or even the Caltrops etc. I was there to get. There are obviously players who specialize in BG, and you can't beat those. FWIW, I did get a few wins, with Kamikaze tactics. Whenever my team got the chaos ball, or another team's relic, I would just leap into attacking the pursuit group, to slow them down. That often was enough to let my team get the extra points we needed by reaching base, or adding to our possession time. Laurie and Cat Man Dhou even manage to carry the chaos ball a couple of times, as that's an appropriate tank role. Just run and hide, as you get points for time of possession. I think some didn't realise that you don't take it home, like the relic game. This post has been edited by ghastley: Dec 3 2018, 04:17 PM

There are obviously players who specialize in BG, and you can't beat those. That is exactly what I did in trying to get that achievement for Britta = I just kept PUG'ing her in until she chanced on a team that was good enough to carry her (she was absolutely their worst member). Her armor worked well in PvP in Cyrodiil; but in those Battlegrounds its Proc'ing didn't seem to affect the Players at all. When I'm going to Cyrodiil a lot with a character; I do change their CP points around so it is optimized for PvP; but if you get the AP points without winning in the Battlegrounds = no need to go through all that; which is another bonus! The Cyrodiil PvP seemed to be a lot easier; and a lot more fun for me (I love doing the Alliance War) = but it does take a lot longer to raise your levels in Cyrodiil. Ooh, these are great tips! Thank you so much!

QUOTE(haute ecole rider @ Dec 3 2018, 12:02 PM) I know I spent a lot of time lying dead in BG
Fortunately, I always regenerated and jumped back into the fray
Julian ended up going back to Cyrodiil - it seemed she got the points needed to unlock Vigor and Caltrops much faster that way - of course, joining a nice PVP guild helped . . .
Britta had a blast in Cyrodiil; I loved that Alliance War! Taking and defending the Keeps; repairing them after a battle; spying on the enemies in those scouting missions; taking the enemy's Elder Scrolls and trying to get them back to your Alliance before they catch you = that Alliance war is Awesome fun! Unfortunately; I think my PC was getting too worn out to handle the combat down there ever since that patch they put in during Midyear Mayhem two years ago. It started freezing up and making a loud beeping noise through the headset every time I got into combat down there = even combat with the NPC's! I've only gone back for the skyshards since then; or to the Imperial City Sewers and districts (where the computer didn't freeze up in combat). This post has been edited by mALX: Dec 3 2018, 06:34 PM

I suspect Cyrodiil is faster if you don't die often, but BG provides a minumum rate of AP. One scouting quest in Cyro takes as long as a BG game, and gets 500, and only if you don't die on the way there. You need support to get AP in Cyro, but in BG you don't. So for players without guild help, BG seems to be the faster.

It's the character that accepts the log-in reward that gets credit for acquiring the AP, and it does count towards skill-ups. However, one level takes 30,000, 60,000, or 90,000 (for levels 4, 5 and six, where you get Warhorn, Vigor, and Caltrops) so the 2,000 at a time doesn't go far. It's 1/4 of one BG round, and it's for one character maximum, on the days it happens. We haven't received enough AP in total for one level-up in Alliance, even if we carefully took them all on one character.
Transfers between characters don't acquire any more AP for the account, so do nothing. You can't transfer between players, only one player's characters via the bank. Banking your AP doesn't lose your skill-up record, as it only counts it coming in from outside.
The only "currency" you can send to another player is gold. You can also send items as gifts, that may or may not be tradable for other stuff, but AP seems account-locked until you spend it on stuff and the reverse transactions can't get back AP. Just like you can't trade things for writ vouchers, or event tickets. All the things you get with the secondary currencies can only be sold for gold.
