I'd rather pay upfront for a mobile game than there to be any micros. Period. They're designed with whales in mind. Why charge for a game when you can put it out for free and prey on people with bad gambling drive?

And anyone that buys that 99 dollar coffer needs to be slapped. THEY'RE the reason people do this.

During a hiatus? This time round it's mostly reading, watching stuff on YouTube and napping. Music listening used to be prominent at such times, but all-but-shot hearing now restricts me greatly. Yes, bouts of poor health come into play but are not the sole reason for this hiatus. They are not even what triggered the hiatus.

For what it's worth, I launched Transport Fever several times over the last few days but couldn't drum up enough enthusiasm to do anything other than ride the rails a few minutes before exiting.

Hiatus or no hiatus, I don't miss an episode of GrandT's Transport Fever "600 Town Midlands (England) Map" YouTube series. GrandT is my favorite YouTube Transport Fever uploader. This series, he plays a huge self-made custom map which, as the name implies, contains 600 towns/cities situated as they are in RL, though distances are much compressed. (In comparison, my randomly generated medium-size map houses 13 cities (plus a few towns/villages I added myself after the fact). GrandT concentrates on laying train routes/stations as they are in reality, and adding scenic details along those routes. Here's episode #66, released this past Thursday. It's a more or less average episode, thus a decent representation of the series as a whole.

I almost started another game of FO3 a few weeks back! Never did get to it, but I might in the next month.








I used to like doing Sudoku or those larger puzzle books that have all kinds of diverse puzzle types in them if I was taking a break from gaming, lol. Have barely had time to even game in the last few years, so haven't needed a hiatus,

Played my first half-way lengthy gaming session in ages tonight. Transport Fever of course. Didn't accomplish all that much. Smoothed out two bumpy rail junctions at Dunwich Passenger Stations. Replaced locomotives and wagons on the Dunwich-Chesham Passenger Shuttle. Have mixed feelings about the loco swap. Looks wise, I prefer what I had. But I wanted something a bit faster for those two trains. Plus, I'm trying to convert to all British Passenger Train motive power on that section of the railway network. What I ultimately settled on doesn't look bad at all. It's just not visually interesting as the original loco. The rest of the session was nothing more than me riding one of those shuttles back and forth between the two cities a number of times.

Gog.com has Blood: Fresh Supply out and on sale for $4.99. It is the original Blood game, plus its expansion packs. They updated the graphics engine to do 1920 x 1080, up to 144 hz. Mouselook also works (the original did not have it). So if you liked the original Blood back in the day, $5 is cheap to pick this up for your modern PC.

Lol.

Had a decent TpF session this morning and continuing a short time immediately after lunch. Re-laid lengthy sections of multiple tracks near Sittingbourne to minimize sloping and junction bumps. Most of what I did is a success.

Also replaced the two Continental European steam locomotives on one of my fuel delivery railway lines to a neat looking British loco newly uploaded to Steam Workshop by Gr1m. The new locos are theoretically a bit faster and more powerful than their predecessors, but I've not noticed a speed different when riding them.

For your viewing displeasure I once again pollute the internet with yet another so-called TpF Scenic Excursions episode. We re-visit a short two-stop train route shuttling passengers between the cities of Chesham and Dunwich. First seen episode 12, this episode documents track-side scenery changes and a switch of locomotive and carriages made since the earlier episode aired.

As with other videos in the series, I find this episode easier to watch in 'theater mode' rather than 'full screen,' as the former somewhat lessens the effects of harsh YT video compression.

Outsiders visit Dunwich as seldom as possible, and since a certain season of horror all the signboards pointing toward it have been taken down.


I did not notice any bad compression in normal mode, though it did perhaps look slightly sharper in theater mode. I liked the spiffier scenery, like the people with their tent and umbrella by the railroad track.

Not game but train related: U.K. Heritage Railway Review- 2013. The Brits have it all over us Yanks when it comes to this sort of thing. Had we something of this quality locally it 'might' tempt me to leave the house every now and again. (Yeah, right.)


Interesting. At least one other person has commented on not noticing compression degradation that sometimes bothers me. I sometimes wonder if maybe YT somehow degrades a video when its creator attempts to view it online, to discourage us from artificially bumping up views count. Yet, it's a silly conspiracy theory, but for sure YT always sets my own vids to 720p when I watch them, though with all other video I automatically watch at 1080p by default, assuming that resolution (or high) is available. Thing is, the only reason I bother to watch my own vids online is to check quality. Otherwise, I watch my sharper local pre-upload renders, or occasionally sharper yet raw footage.
