Both my dogs are purebred "Louisiana Catahoula Leopard" - they are technically a cur, but are a registered breed. They are not agressive dogs, but are VERY assertive, the owner better be the Alpha in the house. They are for hunting: Better scenting than a bloodhound Webbed feet for swimming Can and will climb trees to go after prey (I have a snapshot of one of Dixie's relatives 15 foot up in a tree at the field trials) They are also for herding: They are known for herding wild boar, but are just as happy with cattle, horses, sheep, people, etc. When you buy one they tell you it must be exercised HARD daily or it will eat your house - TRUE! Both my dogs get plenty of exercise, and yet my older dog has literally eaten a lawnmower and the sub floor of my house. Dixie has been eating a pine tree with her baby teeth. The cats are a feral colony we have been feeding and tending since the year 2000. We trap/spay/neutered them and then released them back into their territory. Without all the kittens the colony has dwindled down to just what you see in the pics (thank goodness!) - the one inside was a kitten from the matriarch's second litter. *********************** My new puppy Dixie: http://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...nt=S6301720.jpghttp://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...=S6301724-1.jpgMy one year old dog Cracker Jax: http://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...nt=S6301678.jpgTHE Bocephus Possom - If you say he can't, he damn sure will! http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...b71413143f0.jpgMomma is the most feral of all the remaining colony http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...f922f2314d7.jpgSmokey - she prefers living with the dogs http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...c197dd63bac.jpgGoku. He looks small in the pic, but he's not! http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...ebebf194be5.jpgThis post has been edited by mALX: Sep 1 2010, 12:19 AM

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Sep 10 2019, 03:18 PM) I am so sorry to hear that.
Thanks. I've been trying to hold it together with little success. Mixing Rosie some dry and canned dog food even triggered me into breaking down cause when I did it for Loki he would bark in excitement and that's something I'm missing right now.

QUOTE(Acadian @ Sep 10 2019, 03:33 PM) Aww, sorry, Reaper. Sounds like Loki had a good long life with you. Still sucks to lose a beloved pet though. Thanks. We've been through a lot of things both good and bad. Though I still have Molly and Rosie; Bubbie was very special to me.

QUOTE(Dark Reaper @ Sep 10 2019, 04:04 PM) Well I lost my Bubbie aka Loki of 14 years the other day, as you can imagine I'm an emotional wreak right now. My Dad and I decided to go ahead and have him put to sleep as his health was failing him and he simply got to a point where he stop eating and drinking. Though I have my Boston Terror Molly and German Shepard Rosie, Loki was by far my favorite as I had him since he was a puppy. RIP Bubbie we'll see other again someday T_T . Oh Reaper, I am so very sorry! You have my deepest sympathy.

Freya died today. She has been unwell for two years now, since her first bout with Fatty Liver Disease. She never really got over with it completely. It came back again a few weeks ago, and I could see that it was the end, no matter what I tried. Today the vet found something in her intestines that might be a tumor. In addition to a lump I found on her head. Even with hospitalization, she was only looking at a few more weeks of life. She already has trouble walking, could not jump, and just sat and stared. So I had them end it. Goodbye Freya.

Heck I still get teary eyed when I think of Bubbie sometimes though its gotten a little easier to talk about him.
