I have again released another monstrosity on the unsuspecting masses. (All zero of them.) This time round footage of my decrepit DFU avatar exploring the bowls of Community of Vannausa (dungeon) to remove a Gargoyle. Captured at 1080p, it is rendered and uploaded at 1440p. To my surprise, it looks best online at 1440p full-screen, even on my 1080p monitor. That's due to dungeon fog, which doesn't display well full-screen at 1080p, but does at 1440p. Viewed in a standard YouTube window, either resolution should be okay. (video) Modded Daggerfall Unity - Community of Vannausa - Gargoyle Disposal (video)

With all the noise made tromping around in heavy armor I don't see how you were able to sneak up and backstab anyone. The music is pretty good. It adds to the dungeon crawl tension.

Morrowind: GOTY Edition. Finally had time to plonk down and play this gem from the early 00s. A large percentage of its content still holds up! Though some are without a doubt extremely dated.
The most fun I've had (and still having) however is with the Construction Set. I managed to get the most basic stuff down and created a bunch of NPCs, since I'm planning on making my own faction with its own questline. Its going to be a long and hard journey ahead, but hoooooo boi am I ready to tackle it.

It adds to the dungeon crawl tension. <nods> I turn music off in most ever game I play. Yet I leave it on in Daggerfall. Wouldn't be without it. As to noisy feet and stealth, I hear you. In Oblivion, my avatar switches from plate footwear to quieter leather boots when stealth is required. In Daggerfall, I decided to not be so 'picky'. The difference, I think, is that I consider Oblivion my 'immersionist' TES game and run my avatar accordingly. I don't see Daggerfall as an immersion game beyond a certain point. It's more my quest / dungeon crawl TES game. For example, in Oblivion my avatar eats three square meals a day, in taverns when he can, from carried supplies when he can't. He sleeps every night except when on rare assigned that see him legitimately active overnight, in which case he'll catnap the next day. And so on. I can of course do the same thing in Daggerfall. I just don't think DF is geared for that being a meaningful endeavor.

I have to keep pausing them to read your on-screen dialogue; but it is def worth it to catch all your side comments! Your Daggerfall looks amazing compared to the one I played briefly; it makes me want to try it out again!

Been adding scenery to several TpF1 routes these past several weeks. Yesterday I returned to TS2021. What a mess. I've forgotten how to drive a steam locomotive. Made just about every mistake that can be made, except derail the train. Also backed out of four hours of scenery work in TpF1, when it became obvious that what I was doing not only didn't improve what it replaced but looked worse. I watched a DFU video the other day that put mine to shame graphically. Dungeons were appreciably darker and floor/ground textering had a 3D look mine lacks. I suspect I goofed something up during my last 'update'. No biggie. DFU has entered BETA since then, so I'm due another update.

I continue to devote the bulk of my gaming time to completing scenery along numerous TpF1 train routes. I also played a bit of TS2021 and my first-ever sessions of TpF2. With the latter I'm only goofing around, doing nothing serious. Certain nothing of lasting value. I'll likely delete my current map and start afresh once I learn the ropes and acquire the mods I need. Speaking of TpF1, I've yet another Scenic Excursions episode ready for view. How many more can I crank out before ever-increasing lag renders 'filming' impractical? We shall see. (video) Transport Fever Scenic Excursions ep 43: Fuel for Bebington, There and Back Again (video)

Their Legendary Edition of the game moves the camera position in a few scenes, so that it is not focused on Shepherd's crotch, or Miranda's butt.

So I got sidetracked from a new Vampire: the Masquerade- Bloodlines play through and I am instead playing an open world “survival” game that I got off Steam for $20. Do you like Vikings and Norse mythology? Do you like games in which you craft things and build bases from which you can set out to explore a vast and uncharted wilderness? Does sailing a raft or Viking longship and braving the dangers of the sea to discover new lands interest you? If you answered yes to these questions, then Valheim might be a game you’d like. It’s a survival game, but it’s not as tedious as most survival games. The article I linked above explains what I mean by this. You start as a Scandinavian warrior (male or female options with a small amount of customization options for each) who was plucked from a battlefield by I assume the game’s version of a Valkyrie and taken to what amounts to Viking purgatory, Valheim. There you must defeat certain legendary monsters (which serve as boss fights) in order to ascend to Valhalla. To do so you have to craft and upgrade items, armor, and weapons to become powerful enough to vanquish these foes. You get crafting supplies from gathering wood, stones, hunting animals such as boar and deer, etc. The game itself is in early access, but I figured it was worth checking out at that price, and I’m enjoying it. I haven’t come across any bugs at all. Worth a try if you like these kinds of games, imo. This post has been edited by TheCheshireKhajiit: Feb 17 2021, 05:58 PM

I'm messing around with TpF2, nothing serious yet. Just laying track, placing towns, running trains between them. The vanilla game is better visually than TpF1, and some landscaping toils are improved. On the other hand, I find its interface harder to work with. And, alas, no improvement on roads crossing sloping track....still bumpy. I'm disappointed that a number of my fave TpF1 mods haven't made the transition. A few that have are a bit more difficult to work with. Still, the improved graphics give it much potential, and some of my awkwardness with the interface will surely diminish over time.
