As no, it literally me and that. Chinese, Japanese, Korean. Don't understand any of it unfortunately.

I do hear Japanese is hard to become fluent in. Kanji particularly hard to learn enough to read.

It's ok though, I haven't much use for it. My friend however, is fully fluent(westerner) and speaks Chinese as well. She spent a few years teaching there, and then many years teaching by video link.

Hate to be a teacher. Those little buggers staring at me, hating me for doing my job

Or the no shows by Chinese students that hate classes that their parents are forcing them to take.

Chris had a lot of those.

Not that I can blame them, of course. If my mother was forcing me to take a language class I'd hate it too.

The Japanese students were mostly businessmen. The Chinese students were middle to high school.

Happy April Fools' Day to all!

In the spirit of the holiday, my day began with a SNAFU. Upon waking, first thing I did was press the 'illumination' button on the 'atomic' clock kept on a stand by the sofa (where I sleep). Instead of lighting the time display, the entire screen blanked. Dead batteries. I got out of bed (sofa), disconnected CPAP tubing, checked time via my computer room clock (0318), put new batteries in the atomic clock, then set its time-zone. (The clock automatically sets everything else, correctly, without my help.) By then, I knew I'd not get back to sleep. I did, however, read in bed (sofa), with CPAP reconnected, until around 0420.

I'll say this. The two AAA batteries replaced this morning lasted ever so long. We're talking a good many years.


You have my sympathies. Me poor bother is in a vaguely similar situation. No deaths involved, thank goodness. But he's gotten hit with several substantial money-sinks in a row, with roof shingle replacement not far off. (I generously give it two years max.)

My thoughts to you and yours, Saki. I hope Mikael is alright

Mikael's been expecting this for at least 10 years and he's made his peace.

Me, on the other hand.... I'm handling it pretty well, but then again I tend to handle death pretty well in general. I have a few days of grief, and then I make everything appear normal. I'm good to have around for things after because I can keep composure. I still have not, to this day, had a major breakdown over my own mother's death three years ago. It's just how I process it.

My in laws are not doing so well. They've expected it for some time as well(she was in remission for 10 years), but it still can hit pretty hard.

I'm hoping they all do well in the future. Unless the will says differently(she did write a directive), there will be no funeral, she will be cremated. Which I find odd for this country.... they don't seem to be popular here.

I'm likely to pop in here and there, but I might be busy the next few weeks. *hugs* for everyone.

Phone rang awhile ago. The phone info screen read "Home IV - Billi". I picked up the received, intending to set it down immediately. Then an automated voice 'said', "This is Baker Healthcare. If you are the household CPAP user, press 1 now. If you are not....". I hung up at that point. First I get scam calls pretending to be my pharmacy. Now I get scams pretending to be the folk who supply my CPAP equipment. What next?

After hanging up, I thought about it a few minutes and decided to call Baker to let them know someone is scamming their customers. Looked up Baker's legitimate number (I have their business-card within arm's reach). It's the same number is the 'scammer'. That call was a legit call! Tis a strange world we live in.

Sounds like my vaccine call yesterday.

I just didn't answer. Then I looked up the number going Wth. I figure if it's important they'll call back.

They called back today. They'll call back Tuesday, since I couldn't come in today.

My heart goes out to you Sakiri, losing loved one wither fur babies or family members dealing with death is such a hard thing to go through.

I'm having issues with Best Buy on my order, it was suppose to be in today but the order never got processed or even left the warehouse. If its not here by Tuesday I'll either request a refund or sue Best Buy for taking 1K from me.
