[Rythe Lythandas just said this to me yesterday after I completed the A Brush With Death quest, even though he and his wife made it clear I was welcome anytime after saving him. And it was still mid-to-late afternoon, so time wasn't an issue either. I think he did that to me in my first playthrough, too. Truly amazing how many NPCs in Oblivion have schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder.]
