QUOTE(macole @ Feb 17 2023, 02:15 AM) A new adventure has begun. Today I began preparation for cataract surgery on my right eye next Wednesday the 22nd. It’s a fairly common procedure with a high 99% success rate. When it’s complete I should be able to read easily without sticking my nose on the page or zooming the screen up 200%.
So why am I worried, frightened more like it, that the one percent will leave me totally blind? In 1968 when I was 18 a virus (HSV-1) erupted on the left side of my face and eventually across the left eye. After six months (no one knew my name, I was the guy with the eye patch) of treatment I was left with worse than 20/200 vision in the left eye (can’t read the big E on the eye chart). I’ve had three episodes since the first the latest being in 2009. None were as bad as the first; knowing the early signs and newer treatments have helped with that.
Everything has been stable until this past year when in little over six months a cataract has bloomed in the right eye. No wonder it’s dark
Anyway, my surgeon has put me on valacyclovir as a precaution and if all goes well by the end of February I will be seeing as well can be expected. More importantly I’ll be able to speedily read all the great stories here at Chorrol.
My Dad had laser surgery for his cataracts and hasn't had any issues since then. I pray the surgery goes well for you.

When the first part of the fight went down that quickly, I knew right then and there the second half would be a slaughter.

QUOTE(Sakiri @ Feb 17 2023, 01:55 PM) I feel the vision thing. I'm 20/1400 or something, my prescription is - 12.5 and I'm blind almost entirely in my left eye
I am so very sorry to hear that your vision. What caused the loss in the left, if you don't mind me asking? In my case the left eye was infected with the HS1 virus. Can you imagine the ribbing I got in high Scholl when I told people what was going on? The cornea is so deeply scarred; it's like looking through a couple of sheets of wax paper, surgeons hesitant to touch it. They tell me to think of it like a spare tire in the trunk. Fine with me as transplants have their own set of issues you have to deal with. I'd like to thank everone for sharing their concern. This post has been edited by macole: Feb 19 2023, 07:05 AM

I was born with a hemangioma on the inside of my eye region near my nose Bridge, upper right side of my left eye. It swelled shut when I was 3 days old and I never learned how to see out of it. They couldn't remove the extra tissue either because surgery on that type of birthmark just wasn't done then. They gave me steroids to shrink it, but my sight never came.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Feb 19 2023, 02:31 PM) We can conclude that souls of bad people are indeed in the sun. And to answer an earlier question. I haven't shot the .22LR yet, still winterish here in Kansas. QUOTE(mirocu @ Feb 18 2023, 03:36 AM) Have you had a chance to shoot your new gun yet? Also; this is for Reaper Heck that green Vulcan sounded just like a real LMG!
