Oh, yes. So much fun was had with the map maker, trying to make something that made sense and where you could drive around. That was always my main goal; to be able to use a vehicle The mapmaker in FP had vehicles?! Neat!

Well, at least when out of the maker and playing your map. It was always then I realized what dumb mistakes I made Also, I don't remember which Timesplitters I played.

I spent so much time in the mapmaker modes of TS1 and 2. I love stuff like that, which is probably why I like Fallout4’s building features so much. I didn’t actually play a lot of TS:Future Perfect so I never really got a good grasp on the upgrades the mapmaker got. I’m looking forward to spending some time with it! The rights to the TS franchise were bought by THQ Nordic last year or the year before and they supposedly put the old Free Radical Design team back together, but I haven’t heard anything about a new TS game. Samesies. It's been a while since I have, but I still bust out the Gamecube once in a while to play it.

Huge fan of Time Splitter 2. Spent many hours making custom maps including the USS Enterprise. I wish I could have played Future Perfect. My favorite characters in TS2 where "Elvis" and Venis Starr.

Yeah I can think of two BIG reasons Venus Starr could be many people’s favorite Which brings me to my next point. Fans of the series understand that the oversexualization of *some* of the female characters specifically is parody of media in general, but this aspect of the series’ humor would probably not fly today. QUOTE(Jacki Dice @ Dec 19 2022, 10:10 PM) I bought myself The Callisto Protocol as a treat. It's from the makers of Dead Space, so I was super hyped for it. Someone described it to me as people who made Dead Space, but didn't understand why Dead Space worked and.. they're kinda right. I see where the games are similar, but Dead Space was genuinely scary. And the necromorphs are scary in the way that they look disgusting, but also, the process of becoming one is just completely horrifying to imagine. The critters in The Callisto Protocol are scary, but in a generic space zombie way. Some of them remind me of Wrothken after getting a bad sunburn I'm still in the beginning of the game, so maybe it'll get better[u], but so far it's fine.
I also got The Mortuary Assistant and did an autopsy on Santa Claus. So that was fun.
It did not get better. It just got so much worse. The enemies continued to be generic space zombies and the creators clearly mistook frustration and repetition for scariness. I was genuinely shocked at how bad it was. Like, it was made by one of the Dead Space creators and I know Dead Space wasn't a fluke of a game. It was SO good! But Callisto Protocol was just a zombie with its arms hacked off and teeth removed. I was so disappointed in this game. I bought it for myself as a treat for finishing the calTPA but instead, it was what I should have bought myself as a punishment if I didn't pass. The Mortuary Assistant is genuinely terrifying. You play as a woman hired to do autopsies and it turns out demons are involved. You need to find out which body is possessed and there are clues that appear as you progress with each body. There also seems to be some mental stuff for the main character to sort through as well and it's so horrifyingly done. I love it. I have a specific stuffed animal to clutch while I play.

I saw a video of that a little while ago. It was definitely creepy! —————————————————————— Khajiit is currently playing something he never expected to. Yesterday, Mrs. Khajiit’s brother just gave us a copy of Star Wars: Jedi- Fallen Order for PS4. Now, this is a title that Khajiit avoided purchasing because it is, A.) categorized as a Souls-like game, and B.) the player character seemed uninteresting and worse, he is visually modeled after his voice actor who played a very memorable character in the Fox Batman prequel show Gotham that came out some years ago. Everytime Khajiit sees this guy’s face he sees that other character and there’s just a disconnect. Anyway, couldn’t really turn down a free game and so decided to give it a chance. You play as a young man named Cal, who starts the game as a worker in a starship scrapyard where they are breaking up the big capital ships from the Clone Wars era for the Empire. It’s a bit sad to see all those Jedi Cruisers just getting junked. Just, thrown away, much like the Jedi who once commanded them. The scrap yard serves as the tutorial level where the game gets you accustomed to the controls. You traverse the world in a similar way as the Assassin’s Creed games. You can sprint, climb short ledges, particular surfaces, and ropes. Even run along walls eventually. The combat is very defensive based. Blocking and parrying is paramount to success in battle, at least at first. not sure how force powers will change that dynamic but the combat really does seem to be built around defense, which this one supposes fits the Jedi just fine. We found that deflecting blaster bolts feels especially good in this game, in our opinion. There’s a weighty thud as the bolt slams into your lightsaber blade, and a simultaneous “pew” sound as it screams back into the stormtrooper that shot it. Khajiit hasn’t made it that far into the game but so far we are liking it. We’ll see how much we like it when the difficulty ramps up.

I remember playing one of the Hexen games a long time ago. I remember it being like a Doom game but with melee weapons and magic. Is that right?

Yep! Used the same engine as Doom and Heretic. The controls take A LOT getting used to as you can move and turn with the mouse and press <> keys to strafe and ? to jump. It's playable and fun.

I'm sure I once owned both Hexen and Heretic. Checking the ancient PC games housed on a high-up shelf in my computer room closet found neither. I must have trashed them at some point. Or maybe I didn't own the entire games but instead had demos of them on a floppy disk included with one of several PC gaming magazines I once subscribed to.

Same with my game of choice at the time; CyClones. Still have the game, box and everything that came with it.
