I have no real recommendation other than to stay with your choice for the life of the machine. Trying to remove an anti-virus is almost impossible and the residue of the old one can mess up the installation of the replacement. So just renew if you had no issues before.

In preparation for my move to UK, I created a second account in case there are any login issues when my mail server gets shipped over. So I now have an Orc on each, under @ghastleyuk, which are promoted up to a useful level in the guild.
It will be a while before they can usefully participate. I didn’t go for ESO+, so won’t have access to all zones.
Now for a lot of grindy leveling, as they both have to reach, and go through, CP50 to CP159. At least I can mail things to them from the main account, and they have access to guild facilities.

Experience boosts will certainly help. And I will need lessons from Grits on multiple account management. The new characters can’t have companions (requires Blackwood or High Isle DLC), can’t make or grind up jewelry (Summerset) and can’t use leads (Greymoor).
None of that prevents leads from dropping, or all the metal nodes being pewter, or half the loot being rings. They do have access to Vvardenfell, so we’re chasing that zone quest while we can still get the recall. XP is decent on those quests, and the MQ, too, so also doing that.
I’m still doing riding lessons and undaunted on the youngest NA character on my regular account, and all the daily and master writs on EU. Good thing I retired.

Welcome to multi-account madness! My favorite add-on for this is Character Knowledge. It lets you track recipes, furnishing plans, motifs, and scripts across your accounts from the item tooltips. You can choose character priority order and even what to track and ignore from any account and server. Elke (NA) and Brynja (EU) are my boss crafters, so whenever a character runs out of trait research items they send a note listing their requests. Then I use the Reply feature to send the items back attached to the note. No remembering required. Otherwise I can’t do without my little notebook. Most things I just ignore on all but Jerric’s accounts, but occasionally there’s something neat in an event that I want to make sure I pick up. I write those down. Oh! Watch for the free ESO+ events. You can open jewelry crafting and start research, but you won’t have access once the event ends. You can however go get the free hats and pets that come with visiting various DLC zones and dungeons. Those you keep once they’re unlocked. I have no idea if you could get a companion and keep it. I should try that on the next free event.

I suspect you would not be able to summon the companion when the event ends, and that would mean not going anywhere they get dismissed, like PvP areas, and homes.
Edit: according to UESP, you can’t start the recruiting quest on the free trial.
Antiquities lets you keep the keen eye for chests, if you can get during the free period, but you can’t scry or excavate after it ends. I am assuming that leads I am getting now will be available when it comes up, and they will get the one-time purples from each zone, as the first character. The method of scrying on one character, and excavating on another, will not work with only one.
We should chat next time we’re in the game together. Crafting takes too much inventory, but research does not. There is probably a way to balance those, so they can level up those skills without needing a stockpile of mats.

The guild meets on Monday 5th (EU) and Tuesday 6th (NA) and I fly to London on Sunday 4th.
I have a laptop over there that may be able to run the game, and it should at least run Discord. I'll know when I get there. I created a UK account, as I won't be able to access the regular one, so my characters will be low-level and unable to go to DLC zones. I'm currently trying to mail them everything they'll need for the next month or so.

Ooh, and you can request whatever you need and we can stick it in the Guild Bank too!

Yes, definitely hope you and your PC and Server have a safe trip over and are in good working condition! My PC always had issues if it got laid on its side on any trips; that probably should have been a carry on, lol. Also, if you don't have the Plus on the second account; join a trade guild. Grind up everything you can't research to level up those skills = sell the mats in the trade guild to bolster up your funds and keep your inventory down low. The trade guilds allow you to post 30 items at a time; so each trade guild you join gains that many inventory slots for storage even if your items don't sell. You can also send a PM to friends with anything you need out of your inventory and label the title something like "RETURN THIS TO ME" so they just reject it on receipt. As long as you empty it out before 30 days is up that gives you extra storage. (at 30 days the game will delete it) You can also start a private guild just for an extra 500 slot bank = just get ten people to join it to get your guild bank started. You can (of course) use your other EU accounts as members, so there would be two already; just need 8 more if anyone has any guild slots open. (I do, and would be more than willing to help).

QUOTE(Burnt Sierra @ Aug 5 2024, 04:39 PM) I'll definitely miss the EU meet, as I haven't been very well the last few days, and won't be able to stay up long enough tonight - flagging already. Have a good one though!
Aw, so sorry you aren't feeling well! I hope you get well soon! I just got on Discord and no one for the EU Meet was on there. Does anyone know if it is still a go? (Yes, I was late, lol)

EU meeting was a major failure. It started with just Grits and myself, which is not unusual.
I had just finished installing ESO, and tried to start it. CPU went to 100 percent and discord couldn't cope. Sound went out a lot, and Grits and I had real problems having any kind of conversation. So I stopped ESO (which wasn'tresponding anyway) but still had max CPU usage. Turns out everything on the laptop noticed it was a year out of date, and tried to update itself. After a while we gave up.
The machine is still running updates of everything, and I'm trying to uninstall anything I don't use, but Microsoft keeps wanting to put it back. If that all gets done, I may be at the NA meeting.

Is the laptop capable (requirements met for playing ESO?). I didn't think a laptop could handle a game that big; makes me really want to pull out my ROG and try to install it!!!! If the WIFI is bad there; it will take forever to update. Can you stop the update while you clear it out (and clean out all TMP files, etc) before letting it update the rest of the way? Well, maybe we can make a rain check on the Guild Meet for when you are up and running; I will try to make it if someone sets a date for it. When I moved to Germany it took a month for my household goods to make it by ship from South Carolina to Bremerhaven; I had to live in a hotel for that month. (so you may be without your PC for a while).

For EU, Guild Bank is good, as I can't receive mail until I get back to the USA on the ghastley account. That also means I can't place it until I get back. That won't be before the next meeting, as I'm planning to be here in the UK for my mother's 95th birthday.
