If you're on a console, hold down the button to open your pip boy (inventory) instead of just tapping it and the light should come on, if you're on pc, read your instruction book because I have no idea. ZOMG is just another variant of OMG. Probably started out as a typo or somebody just randomly decided it would be cool...who knows with these sort of things.

QUOTE(Renee @ Oct 26 2024, 04:03 PM) Hey do anyone know of something which makes "Hardcore" mode into NV into a bunch of sliders? Like an MCM we'd see in Skyrim or something similar?
Not I, sorry Also: *looks at date on previous post* *Sees Dec. 29, 2008* Renee has been using her thread necromancy skills again!

It doesn't seem like anyone has made what I'm looking for, but that's okay. I'll figure what I want to do on my own. Another question: For Fallout 3, the Third Person camera is offset, which is awkward. Anybody use something which centers it? Or... maybe this is an .ini setting?

Isn’t there an INI setting for this? I’m pretty sure I remember seeing something like this. Here is a mod for New Vegas that supposedly centers the camera: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/88529Since New Vegas is built on Fallout3, maybe this would be a good starting place?

A longshot. In the GECK, the mod-added hair I've added to an NPC looks fine. I get an error about "minimaps not loading" when opening the worldspace where the NPC is, but the actual hair shows up. In the game, it doesn't. Any ideas? This is a texture problem, from what I've been able to surmise. This thread says the problem is archive invalidation needs to be toggled in FOMM, but I'm almost positive I've done this. Won't be able to check this until later when I'm home. So for now I'm just fishing Chorrol for possible answer. This post has been edited by Renee: Oct 28 2024, 04:25 PM

Not specifically for Fallout, so excuse me if this doesn't apply. But "minimaps not loading" is I think your problem right there. Minimaps are not separate files, they are embedded in the DDS texture file. May be the file is corrupted? Or may be they were not generated correctly somehow? In any case, I would regenerate the minimaps and see if that helps.

QUOTE(Renee @ Oct 28 2024, 05:07 PM) Awesome thanks! How do I regenerate minimaps? Just tried googling "regenerate GECK minimaps", which sent me all over the internet. "How to install the GECK" for instance. You do it with whatever graphical program you use to create textures. Photoshop and GIMP are common, but I think there are other programs that can do it as well (Paint.NET may be?). Any decent one that supports DDS will work. I use GIMP, and there mipmaps are regenerated automatically. So what I would do, is open a DDS file and re-save it, making sure that "Generate mipmaps" is ticked. That's it! BTW, it's not GECK minimaps. It's DDS mipmaps. It's a feature of the DDS format, it isn't game-specific. This post has been edited by Lena Wolf: Oct 28 2024, 05:43 PM

Thanks again for replying. I don't know how to create textures or .dds files, I know nothing in this area, but am willing to learn. ...wait, is it minimaps, or MIPmaps? I think that's the first problem. Even with glasses, I can be blind sometimes. Yup, mipmaps. Dang. Anyhow, I'll try GIMP. This is the program, yes?

Mipmaps. You got the right link for GIMP. Beware however that GIMP is not an easy program to learn, it will depend on your experience with graphical editors. GIMP is not a drawing program, it is an image manipulation program, I hope you see the difference. If you get lost in it, something else might be better.

Edit: SOLVED!!! Here's what I did (and yeah, here's me, modding on my birthday!) I went into Object Window > Actor Data > Race. Clicked on Caucasian > Edit. The Race panel pops open. Single-left-clicked on Caucasian and selected Duplicate. This caused a "new" race to appear called CaucasianCOPY0000 to appear. Opened the new race. Selected the Face Data tab. There's a drop-down called Default Hair Style. Changed this from HairDefaultA to NoukDreadlocks. (I made Dreadlocks.esp into an .esm beforehand). Clicked OK. Then I found my NPC and changed his Race from Caucasian to CaucasianCOPY0000. Went into the game. Voila. My G Zuss NPC looks like a cheap imitation of Jesus. ✝ This post has been edited by Renee: Nov 1 2024, 04:39 PM
