If you didn't have a cell phone before, what does Farcebook have to compare with? This is probably genuine FB, but still scammy.

I was wondering the same thing. Do they compare it to any pictures you might have posted to see if it matches or something?

Yeah, it seems utterly screwy to me too, for the reasons mentioned above. Furthermore, the initial email received from Facebook makes it seem as if they think I have a business account, which I most certainly do not. Here is that initial email, minus parts removed due to privacy concerns:

After reading the above, I immediately clicked my FACEBOOK ICON to ensure it wasn't a scam. It took me to a FIX YOUR ACCOUNT page, which initiates the facecam verification process. Upon hastily closing that page, I received the Facebook email saying my account was suspended. NOTE that all these Facebook emails are designated as "no reply".

Have you attempted to contact Facebook support about it? This seems like the kind of thing they could help clarify.

That's a new thing fb has been there awhile, when they require it if me I will be canceling my use of it.

It's stupid.

Also bird, you can still get flip phones. We got one for my fil. They're mostly ones with big buttons for elderly though with vision issues.

Although I do have some vision issues, I don't really need big buttons. Nor do I need few buttons with every button doing twenty things each. I will be looking for a flip phone and they do exist without being for elderly, but I will also be looking at a smart phone just to get an idea. I do have till the end of the year to decide what to go with.

Or maybe a smart flip phone?

With just a cursory browse of Google, it looks like you can get flip phones with regular sized buttons. You may not need to get a smart phone.
