It'll just be wonderful memorising someone's daily habits while hiding in the shadows then when least expected follow them home and FEAST.

But you'd have to follow everyone to make sure they don't collied. And then you have to buy a house and relocate sherlock holmes to it, then he finds out when you shoul strike. So you eat that guy, then eat sherlock!

What's to stop vampires feeding off eachother, so when every living NPC has been sucked dry, they turn on one another in a huge blood war that turns all against all. Alternately they could just hunt creatures and drink their blood though, but I guess there probably wouldn't be enough to go round.

I thought there was going to be re-spawning NPC guards? That way, you could always have something to feed on? *does not remember* Morrowind/BM/TB had re-spawning NPC guards, if I'm not mistaken?

And there is the forced reload, so you do not mess up any Main Quest NPC, I guess.

The re-load isn't forced - the devs said that you will get a screen that prompts you to reload, but you can click "no".

And feeding vamps would be cool.

I don't remember them saying you got an option. I always read it as you had to reload when you killed one.

Yes, Morrowind had respawning guards (and a few other respawning NPC IDs as well, eg generic vampires and bandits).

Oblivion will have at least respawning guards and bandits.

Actually, MSFD corrected himself. It's still a forced reload if you kill an essential NPC. There is no way to skip the screen and continue playing.

No for the same[edit: I wrote some] reason they have to feed. Their blood lacks some critical element (although I can't remember what it is).

Not really. Vampires just are driven to drink blood, and are only severly weakned weithout it.

The dunmer vampire Mastrius has been sitting in his tomb for Azura-knows how long since she made it so he can't leave that place....without people to feed on...

Maybe in MW, but just about everywhere else vampires drink blood because vampire blood lacks some critical element (and I still can't remember what it is). All the vampire myths spawn from a certain blood disease (can't remember what it is either) in which their blood lacks some elements, which now day are suplemented through ivs, but back in the day and now, just in primitave areas, they got it by drinking blood.

hemophilia is the disease that hasbeen associated with vampires. the disease i genetic and occurs when your blood lacks the enzymes or the dibers themselves that are used to make your blood clot.

vampires however, drink blood because its makes them more alive. since vampires are essentially neither alive of dead, hanging somewhere in between the balance. they thrist for blood because it makes them feel alive. not because they have to.

I mayb wrong, since i am not into vampire mythology.

Sooooo, can I have my cannibalistic vampire girl feed on other vampires, not just regular people? Or is that not possible in TES lore? (I'm asking because I'm considering putting a vampire girl in Emma's story, who is hated by vampires as well as regular people.)

I'm fairy certain one could do that. From Mastruis words, and his situation he didn't have any way of getting blood. It weakned him, but it didn't kill him. He took half the player's health to gain the power neccesary to escape, and the only way to get Mastrius' quest is being a vampire, so if a Vampire can gain power from another's blood, then its quite plausible that a Vampire can make a living feeding off other Vampires.

When I was younger (2-3 years?) I was obsessed with Vampire lore. To be honest most of the stuff they had awhile ago was pretty odd.... like when the moon was red it is because a vampire climbed up a silver moonlight thread and bit it.... or wierd vampire-like creature stories from other countries, breast milk stealing snake people that drank blood afterwards, the Walpurgis nacht that looked like a human but had a thorn-like tooth underneath it's tongue for feeding and much more stuff.

Basiclly vampires do whatever the hell you want them to do, modern vampire tales are widely different than that of the ancient days.

(sorry about the D-post I figured it had been so long I might as well ressurect it)

I have a feeling vampires will be playing a bigger role in Oblivion, though a passive one mind you. I mean there won't be any vamp related main quest stuff (maybe not even guild stuff) but clans will be bigger and there will be new little treats here and there. Why else would they be so quiet about it? Their keeping it under wraps because they figure they have some good content waiting to be a suprise. (And like they said, they like vampirism and such to a little treat for fanatic players, like in Daggerfall.)
