Tall Tongue
New Vivec

Tall Tongue feebly wrote his note. He had been preparing it for some time, being the only one in the city with news like his, but being far too busy to visit Megil himself, Tall Tongue felt it crucial to make sure his cryptic message was unbreakable by other agents who would try to steal his glory.

Dear Megil Tel-Zeke,

An Imperial wearing steel plate armor and leather boots and gloves recently killed and injured many recruits of the New Legion, he did. This is not good, no murder is good for this city, no. After running away, he made a mistake and hid his armor in the sewers. I know where it is and I watch it for the day he returns to retrieve it, I do. I could not follow him completely because he took so many detours and stuff, faster then I could follow, well, you know, he was heading toward Hlaalu, yes. That I am sure of, not for any reason I know, no. I watch for his to get his stuff. Know any Imperials who live in Hlaalu who would want to kill legion recruits? I count Imperials in Hlaalu, all except Isaarin's friend are guards and beaurocrats. Good hunting.

Tall Tongue

Tall Tongue read over his note then hid it in his secret spot, and ran back to the sewers, where he nibled on his food and watched for the Imperial to come back for his stuff.

Wred
New Vivec

"You're going to have to don the same armor again when you kill Falx later," Isaarin said as they met privately in his office.

Wred stared at him. "But they'll be looking for a man in that armor."

"You'll wear a cloak under it, none the less if it's one man it brings more fear into the movement, as opposed to just random violence, it'll look more like they're being targeted, which is what we want to slow down the recruitment."

"But it's too risky," Wred tried to explain.

"You're dismissed," Isaarin ordered, and Wred gave him a cold stare, then got up an left.

Every job he took he despised. It wasn't fair. First he was a legionnaire and had to suffer those intolerant, racist soldiers, then he was a Balmora guard and got to spend years roaming about town looking for drunks, and now he was forced to do the bidding of that nutcase. Wred needed to break free, some how find a profession that suited him perfectly. First off, everyone else in his profession would have to be reasonable, not the regular gun-ho Imperials that were only doing service because they were too stupid to get a real job. He also needed to be active, to get lot's of excitement, to do justice, not betray like before. He wanted to start over, to leave his sins behind, to go somewhere where people wouldn't expect him to be able to do the dirty jobs, where he could stand for a principle or two.

Wred grovelled as he searched through the sewer for his stuff. He knew the spot. He saw something in darkness that gave him the chills, like a pair of green eyes surrounded by black. Like a... creature.

"Hey!" Wred yelled, and Tall Tongue jumped up and turned frantically away. Wred realized it was some sort of agent, and sped off after him, taking out his broad-sword.

Tall Tongue was heading for the opening that went straight to the Undercity. He knew enough of it to lose any green-horn to New Vivec. He dove for the entry... and got stuck. He picked the wrong hole! He made that mistake before, but what a time to make it again.

Wred grabbed him from the hole and pulled him out. He scratched and clawed but Wred held him by the back of the neck at arms distance, his other arm lightly tapping Tall Tongue on the forehead, draining his fatigue. Tall Tongue could suddenly barely lift his arms.

"Who do you work for!" he demanded.

"Please, don't hurt me," Tall Tongue pleaded in a whisper.

"If you lie to me I'll rip your ears off and sell them to an Orc. They're a delicacy, you know."

"I work... I work..." Tall Tongue's eyes wer wide. Could the man tell if he was lying? He did not want to risk it, but he could not reveal Megil. "I work for you, for a price, I will work for you!"

"You have no reason to obey me, tell me who you work for! Is it the Morag Tong?"

"Yes! Yes the Morag Tong!"

Wred had been taught to see a liar through an honest man, but not a beast. Wred knew the basic concepts of ear movements with Khajiit, but Tall Tongue's were submissively flat and would not move, probably meaning it was slightly relaxed. Wred did not want to trust him. It was too risky, besides, if the beats saw weakness in him, he would exploit it and escape to tell his superiors everything he knew.

"There's a nice cell in the Hlaalu jail not many people know about, come along with me," he said, and held Tall Tongue tightly by the back of the collar to walk him back to the Hlaalu district.

Amili, New vivec

Amili woke up a few hours later, and took her time in getting ready to go. She bathed, ate, and even cleaned up her dusty room a little bit.

She slowly made her way towards the cells, trying to make En'fel stay in there for awhile, hopefully making him more ready to comply with her.

The guard showed her to En'fel's cell. She peered through the bars at him. "I take it you're comfortable?"

En'Fel
New Vivec Prison

En'Fel sat in his cell, counting the seconds. No living creature was meant to be contained, it was unnatural. The settled dunmer, they were probably more used to it. They had adjusted themselves to stand closed places and damp air and darkness. En'Fel was a creature of the Earth created by Nature, not the Earth chiseled out of stone as the settled Dunmer. He could not stand being in this place, feeling his muscles rot away, trapped with only his mind.

He looked to Amili. He knew Ashlander ways, but she probably did not. "Do you have my sword?" he asked. The act of returning it would be the only thing that allowed him to trust her enough for them to talk about real matters, no matter what the laws of the city said.

Amili, New Vivec

"It's in my room." she answered. "But that isn't the real issue here, is it?"

She was glad that she had posted guards outside of her room...

"We have something far more important to discuss here."

En'Fel
New Vivec Prison

"You know what I've been doing for the last eighteen hours? I would sit right here and meditate until I'm concentrated enough, then walk over to those two bars right there and grab them, and then perform the most potent spell I know. I call it chilling touch. I could have killed you with it if it hadn't failed to work that night we fought. It failed, however, and I only managed to freeze the back of your robe. It worked everytime on those bars, though. I just concentrate on those two bars, and then usually I pass out for about a half-hour, and then I begin again. It should take me around a month of doing that none stop to wear them down to the point where they would shatter. If you do not show me I can trust you, I will see you in a month and use your heart as a snowball. Please, tell me what's so important."

"You would be put on trial before a month passed, and there I would testify against you, and you could possibly be executed for attempted murder."

She smiled. "Or, you could get your revenge on Melkaan, and leave here with your life..."

Staruos walked intot eh arena area and found Delfran, in a hushed voice he said, "welcome friend how are you?"

delfran turned to see Stauros and greeted him as well, "yes, hello, i'm fine. Wish my possition could be as a guard instead of a figter that with every passing day I have a chance of getting killed" He half scowld at Stauros.

En'Fel
New Vivec Prison

En'Fel grumbled. He remembered that day not too long ago when he fell to his face and allowed himself beaten and insulted by a Telvanni scout. This was no different, he only wished Hel'Tic were here so that what he thought at that moment could be voiced.

"Very well, what is your plan?"

Wred
New Vivec, Hlaalu district

"And you're sure he knows nothing?" Wred asked a guard he was having a conversation with while putting on his mercenary armor.

"That's what he said. The agents in the city don't tend to know anything. I can't tell whether he's lying either. That one, he's difficult," the guard responded.

"Well keep his food rations down until he answers some questions then," Wred said.

"Will do," the guard answered.

At that moment Isaarin entered the room. "There we are!" he said to Wred with a twisted smile. "Ready to get some real work done aye?"

"I suppose so," said Wred.

Isaarin was about to speak, then stared at the guard, who gave an awkward shrug and left the room. "Wred," he said. "Remember, if you fail."

"I work for the Morag Tong, I was ordered to kill him by Telvanni, I went behind the backs of my fellow Morag Tong, etcetera etcetera." Wred finished with his steel and leather armor, and tied his cloak around his neck. It draped his armor under it.

"Good!" Isaarin exclaimed. "One last thing," he reached into his pocket and pulled out a black mask, then held it evenly away from Wred's face, and compressed it down so it stuck. "That should hide your identidy. Remember, some people will recognize you, so if you are caught, before anyone noteworthy see's your face, you..." Isaarin pulled a vile from the same pocket, "must pour this vile all over your face."

Wred accepted the vile nervously, then threw his hood up and set out silently.

Falx Albarnias
New Vivec, New Vivec Inn

Falx stepped into his establishment that had recently been turned into a recruited and organization depot for new and old legionaires. The smell of the wood cackling in the fire place added to the starkness that somehow caused a grand tranquility.

"Lieutenant" Falx glanced up from the seat he just sat in, "Bring me a bottle of that imperial brandy." He looked over several papers on his desk, "Four thousand known legionaires..." He let out a soft whistle, "This isn't going to look good to the other houses."

His Aid-to-Camp, Lieutenant Robero Cladius, sat down the dusty bottle and place a glass beside it, "Sir, excuse my lack of knowledge but, why does that matter? Who cares if the other houses don't like it?" He said without looking from the brandy, just slowly pouring. Just how the captain liked it, slow and steady.

"Well, it seems that they would rather have us dead then back in the hands of the empire. Personally, I'd rather be dead then listening to those fat bureaucrats in Cyrodill. But if the men wish it, I will arrange the transportation to the mainland."

"Will you leave?" The aid said as he topped the glass.

"I.. I don't know, this is my new home. But that the future, better the fight in the present then waist over times not yet come." Falx drank deep from the glass, and then looked inside of it swishing the alcoholic contents about, "Tell the guards to go home, but leave the four door guards. They need a break, I'm sure it's been hectic."

"Yes sir." The Lt. stepped out of the desk area, which was out in the middle of the floor and told the sixteen guards or so to head home. Falx called over to Cladius, "You look haggard, go home, get some sleep.." The man started to protest, but Falx cut him off, "Thats an order Lt..."

The Inn was farely empty now, being that only two guards stood inside and the place was wide open. Falx turned his attention to his paper work.

New Vivec

Wred approached the door to the Inn. His cloak covered most of his body, and his mask covered his face, he looked like a lepper. He nodded to each of the guards. One of them stopped him, "What's with the mask? Got something to hide?"

"No," he said humbly, backing away from the man, trying to appear fragile. "I was in a fire as a child," he offered, The guard looked rather embarrassed, and allowed him in.

His knife was smothered in poison, strapped loosely to his left hand. He could pull out on a dime, and Falx would not see it coming. He walked right up Falx Albarnias' desk, and leaned over it. "Is this where I sign up?" he asked.

Falx peered up when here heard the mans voice, "Ye...s?" He was momentarily stunned by the man, wearing a mask of the sort. Falx regained his composure, "Ahh, yes this in where you would register.."

It started to rain outside, a bit heavy with a few cracks of lightning.

"Damn, shut the door!" The guards closed the large wooden doors, sealing the building from the outside world.

"Sorry about that, so you would like to register? Forgive me but are you in the best of health?"

Wred backed away, "Please, please be kind to me. I'm sorry, my mind needs to be trained a little. I was in a fire as a child and... well, I promise you I'm strong like a guar, and an able swordsman, please, just sign me up," he offered. He felt like he was over-playing the character. "I'll just sign my name here," he said, reaching for a quill and marking the paper that had a list of names on it. He thought about what he should sign it, but had no idea,

Kiln Sithiln he wrote, then placed the quill back.

Falx sighed, he needed able body men, not those that would stutter and what not, "Fire? I suppose thats what the mask is for?"

He looked over the signature, Kiln Sithlin, different name. Falx thought for a few seconds, "Isn't that Isaarin's last name? Oh well, we shall find out eventually"

Standing up he bowed a bit, "The name is Falx Albarnias, interm leader for the Legionaires in Vvardenfell, Knight Errant of the Empire and Captain in the Dragon Riders. I am your acting Commanding Officer and you will address me as sir? Understand?" Falx didn't wait for him to answer, "Report back here at noon tomorrow for your breifing and equipment distribution."

He sat back down, "That is all."

"You do understand that aren't supposed to shake hands right?" Falx felt a little upset that not all knew the rules, but caved in, if only to get this man away.

Falx clasped the other mans hand, "Good day to you Kiln, see you at noon tomorrow."

Wred gave him a powerful grip and shook, "Thank you sir, you will not regret this, sir," he repeated, seemingly unable to let go. For a split second, Wred held just an inkling of doubt in his mind. He would be crossing that line again, doing something that would cause massive quilt, that he would regret forever. Not so much the act of killing the man, but that he would be allowing Isaarin Sithiln to receive more power. That made him cringe most of all.

Wred sighed and tightened his grip on Falx, pulling him across the desk. The ink spilled across the floor and papers slid off the table. Wred's other hand was out, and the knife snapped from the wrist it was tied to. Wred stabbed for the back of Falx's shoulder.

En'Fel gave Amili a dry look. "Well I figured that," he said part sarcastically. "How do you want me to do it? There's a rather long system of details we have to work out to ensure neither of us get blamed for the attack and you become the first choice to lead the house."

He paused for a second. "I normally wouldn't care about my own safety, but I figure I have to stay a free, unexecuted dunmer for just long enough to make sure you hold to your side of the bargain."
